King of Meereen
King of Meereen is a title used by Meereenese monarchs of old.[1] The city is now ruled by slavers called the Great Masters.[2]

According to Ser Barristan Selmy, it has been "a thousand years" since Meereen last had a king.[1][N 1]
Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
In 300 AC, Daenerys Targaryen takes Meereen from the Great Masters, becoming the city's new ruler.[3]
A Dance with Dragons
Daenerys is introduced as "Queen of Meereen" as she holds court in the Great Pyramid.[4]
Daenerys weds Hizdahr zo Loraq, through which he becomes Meereen's king.[5] After Daenerys disappears from Daznak's Pit on Drogon, Hizdahr rules over the city as King of Meereen.[1]
Skahaz mo Kandaq convinces Ser Barristan Selmy that Hizdahr played a part in the attempt on Daenerys's life.[1] Together with Grey Worm, Barristan and Skahaz arrest Hizdahr and install a council to rule the city in Daenerys's absence.[6]
