King of Meereen is a title used by Meereenese monarchs of old.[1] The city is now ruled by slavers called the Great Masters.[2]

History

According to Ser Barristan Selmy, it has been "a thousand years" since Meereen last had a king.[1][N 1]

Daenerys weds Hizdahr zo Loraq, through which he becomes Meereen's king.[5] After Daenerys disappears from Daznak's Pit on Drogon, Hizdahr rules over the city as King of Meereen.[1]

Notes

  1. It is unknown if this means one thousand years ago - seven hundred years before Aegon's Conquest - or if George R. R. Martin is being figurative.
  2. It is unclear if this means there have been thirteen other Kings of Meereen named Hizdahr, if he is the fourteenth member of the House of Loraq by that name, or if he is the fourteenth Loraq to rule as King of Meereen.
