Tag : Blissful

I love pearls - cultured, freshwater, plastic flatback, brads...  The pearl is my birthstone so I guess I come by my love of pearls honestly!  The challenge theme for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is "Anything Goes With Pearls."  I'd have to say that I agree with that sentiment!

Tag : 12 Tags of 2013 - October

I. Love. Glitter.  That said, I really don't use it that much on my cards but I do use it more on ATCs and tags.  This tag is glitter overload - I love it!  I'm linking this tag to Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013 as well as Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and the Silhouette Blog's weekly challenge.  The skeleton and frame is Silhouette design #50114 (Halloween skeleton profile frame.)

This background is so pretty I almost hated to cover it up!

Tag : {31}

The bottom part of this tag was made with the same technique used for making another tag I did a while back.  On this tag, though, the moon is a separate piece of paper whereas on my original tag the moon was made by masking, then inking the white card stock.  This tag was made for Kathy as a thank you for gifting me with a wonderful box of paper crafting goodies!

Tag : Winter Morning

I love this sweet vintage image!  You can download it for free from here.  To make the snowflake stamped fragment I used Tim Holtz's technique shown here.   Normally you don't want to put adhesive behind your sanded fragment because it will cause the sanded areas to become clear again.  I was able to attach a piece of silver metallic paper to the back of the fragment by strategically adding small dots of Glossy Accents that were camouflaged by the design in the stamped snowflake and hidden behind the gem in the center.

Picket Fence Distress crackle paint was lightly painted over the embossed snowflake image to allow some of the card stock to show through. Also, a thin layer causes the crackles to be very small.

Tag : Batty

Only a couple more days 'til Halloween and I have another Halloween tag to share with you.  The La Creme paper that I used already had the flocked border at the bottom.  For the flourish detail at the top, I used clear embossing ink and clear embossing powder then inked over it with black ink.  Love those spooky red bat eyes!

Tag Tuesday Challenge - Winter

I love snow!  As I write this the snow is falling outside, adding to the 5 inches we had Wednesday into Thursday.  So, as I was working on this tag I had the perfect inspiration just outside my window.
I was motivated to do this bright moon with a silhouetted tree and a dark winter sky by a gorgeous card I saw on-line a few weeks ago (click here to see it).  There is a tutorial on how to make the card at Operation Write Home's Stars and Stamps blog and you can see the tutorial by clicking here.  The sentiment is a verse from Robert Frost's Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.  Go to Kard Krazy for links to some great tags!

Tag Tuesday Challenge - Mosaic

For this week's tag challenge at Kard Krazy I used some of the remnants from a card I made recently (click here to see it) and many more bits of miscellany that fill my craft drawers!  After looking at Louise's tag more closely I see that hers is indeed more mosaic- like than I realized.  Mine ended up being a collage.  That's what I get for not paying attention!

Tag Tuesday Challenge #31 - A Shaped Tag

This week I got my very first Oxford Impressions rubber stamps.  The first time I ever saw them was on Louise's blog and wanted some ever since.  One of the sets is called "Afternoon Tea" and I chose it to carry out the Tag Tuesday Challenge this week.

I found a teapot clip art image online and enlarged it (although now that I see the picture posted, it looks a little like an Aladdin's lamp!)  The Basic Grey paper  used for the teapot looks like tarnished silver with chased designs on it.  Ranger Glossy Accents was used to add some interest to the teapot by highlighting the design of the paper. The "steam" is a section of a Prima crystal flourish that was applied to a piece of rigid clear plastic packaging.   The twisted cording is handmade as well as the matching tassel.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #30 - Punch It

This week's tag challenge at Kard Krazy  was to include something that was punched.  Snowflakes are a particular favorite of mine so snowflake punches it was!  The tag was cut from a recycled greeting card and the silver snowflakes were punched from a box that had once contained  face cream. :)

Tag Tuesday Challenge #28 - purple, green and silver

I love this unusual color scheme for a Christmas tag at Kard Krazy's weekly challenge!  The colors came out different in the photo.  The purple is periwinkle and it reads very blue in the picture.  The ribbon turned out the right color and the card stock matches the ribbon but you would never know that from the photo! *sigh*

Tag Tuesday #24 - Key to My Heart

The Tag Tuesday challenge at Kard Krazy this week was to use any supplies other than paper.
For the challenge I painted this grungeboard key with gold acrylic and outlined the embossed swirls with a black gel pen.  Black crystals framed with metal rings were added.  The round charm was taken from a costume jewelry charm bracelet that I've had since I was a kid.  The charm says "Je t'aime plus qu'hier moins que demain" which in French means "I love you more than yesterday less than tomorrow."  The tiny vial contains a small lock of my husband's hair.  Since he holds the key to my heart, this tag is an homage to him!
