DS Lite stylus

Nintendo DS Lite stylus

The stylus is a pen-like accessory used to operate the touch screen on the Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and the Wii U.

The stylus is commonly used to make menu selections, which the player can accomplish by bringing the stylus in contact with their selection on the touch screen. The stylus is often helpful or required in gameplay, such as moving Link around in Phantom Hourglass.

On the Nintendo DS, the stylus slot is located on the back, and is inserted downwards, relative to the Nintendo DS itself. For the Nintendo DS Lite, it is on the right side, where one inserts it from right to left, relative to the DS Lite. For the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U GamePad, the stylus slot is on the back, similar to the Nintendo DS, but is located on the side for the Nintendo 3DS XL, similar to the Nintendo DS Lite.

The stylus for the DS is noticeably thinner than the stylus for the DS Lite. A Nintendo DS generally comes with two styluses, and extra styli have been released separately.

The Legend of Zelda games[]

To date, The Legend of Zelda games that use the stylus are:

Spin-off games[]

Special edition styli[]

Phantom Hourglass styli[]

PH Sylus Set

The Phantom Hourglass stylus un-boxed

A Phantom Hourglass stylus set was released by Yujin in 2007. There are a total of seven different styli in the set, each with a different item top. Each stylus has a body that is either green or orange.

Feather Pen Stylus[]

Around the launch of Phantom Hourglass, Nintendo of America ran a giveaway of Phantom Hourglass-themed styli. To obtain the stylus, the customer had to register Phantom Hourglass on the Nintendo website and take the subsequent survey.[1]

At E3 2009, the stylus was given to players who tried the demo for Spirit Tracks.

In Japan, the same stylus was released as an early buyer bonus for Spirit Tracks. It came inside a green Rupee case.
