Opals are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Location and Uses[]

Breath of the Wild[]

Opals can be found by breaking Ore Deposits and Rare Ore Deposits. They're also sold by Kairo at Foothill Stable. The Kochi Dye Shop accepts Opals as an ingredient for Light Yellow Dye.

Several Armor require Opals to be upgraded at a Great Fairy Fountain. Each piece of the Zora Set needs fifteen Opals and ten Lizalfos Tails to reach their fourth and final tier. Not only are Opals needed to purchase the Opal Earrings, a total of forty-nine are needed to completely upgrade them. Finally, the pieces of the Hero of Winds Set need varying amounts of Opals at each tier for their upgrades.

  • Total for Opal Earrings: 49 (5, 8, 16, 20)
  • Total for Hero of Winds Set: 57 (1, 3, 5, 10) x3
  • Total for Zora Set: 45 (0, 0, 0, 15) x3

Other Appearances[]

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[]

In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Opals look like how they were in Breath of the Wild. They can be bought at the store in the Gerudo Desert, or be found in gray treasure chests in main quests, but can also be obtained as first-clear rewards. They can be sold to most Merchants for 60 Rupees, but Dayfah will buy them for 150 Rupees.
