The Old Man's Cabin,[1] also known as the Woodcutter's House,[2] is a location in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Features and Overview[]

Breath of the Wild

The Old Man's Cabin is a small cabin based in the southwestern region of the Great Plateau. The Old Man's Diary can be found inside, which contains the Recipe for Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry.[3][4] If Link prepares the dish for the Old Man, he will be rewarded with the Warm Doublet.[5] If the Armor is not obtained either by giving the Old Man the dish or by visiting Mount Hylia, a Treasure Chest containing it will appear inside the Cabin.[6] As Link progresses through the Plateau, the Old Man's Diary will update accordingly.[7] A Cooking Pot can be found outside the Cabin, as well as Barrels including a giant Barrel in which Link can hide.

A Korok can be found hiding atop the roof of the Old Man's Cabin.

Tears of the Kingdom

After the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the landscape of Hyrule has been altered by some passage of time. The Old Man's Cabin is now taken over by the Yiga clan. Two barricades of spiked-walls surround the cabin to make entry somewhat difficult, with various Yiga headstones and paraphernalia adorn the surrounding area. Upon approaching the front door, Link can peer through a hole in the middle of the door to see a Yiga Footsoldier and Yiga Blademaster waiting inside. Once answering the door, the two Yiga ninjas are startled by Link's sudden arrival. Both will teleport outside of the cabin and fight Link.

Trivia[]

  • If the Warm Doublet is obtained by giving a Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry to the Old Man or by visiting Mount Hylia, the Treasure Chest containing it will not appear inside the Old Man's Cabin; however, the Sheikah Sensor+ will still detect it even though it cannot be reached.
