On the night of September 29,[2] Henchy took part in an attempt to assassinate Perdita Vladek at Star City International Airport. He posed as a photographer with a gun disguised as a camera, and fired the first shot. He and his accomplices were able to take down several security staff, but did not hit Perdita.[3]Green Arrow arrived and shot Henchy's camera-gun with an arrow, then was able to get Perdita away and out of the building.[4] Shortly after, Merlyn radioed a notice that they were back inside. Henchy found them in the baggage conyevor and attacked Arrow with a wrench, but Arrow blocked the blow and knocked Henchy onto a lower conveyor belt with his bow.[5]
When Kid Flash arrived at Seattle Medical Center with a transplant heart for Queen Perdita of Vlatava, Henchy (disguised as a doctor) met Kid Flash outside the main entrance and claimed that Perdita had already died. Henchy took the heart, saying that he would try to find another recipient, but actually, he set off towards the parking lot in the basement to give it to Count Vertigo.
When Kid Flash learned that Perdita was still alive from Pieter Cross, he realized that he had been fooled and chased Henchy. Kid Flash snatched the heart from Henchy's hands. Henchy quickly drew a gun and fired at Kid Flash, along with Vertigo's other associates, only holding back when Vertigo himself stepped in. When Kid Flash knocked Vertigo down briefly, Henchy tried to shoot Kid Flash again, only to be kicked to the ground by Kid Flash.[6]
He took the servant to Bedlam's lab, where Helga Jace determined she did not have the Meta-Gene. Henchy wanted to shoot her dead there and then, but Helga used an overdose of morphine to kill her instead.[7]
After it became clear their operation had been compromised, and Nightwing's squad was in the facility, Baron Bedlam had Vertigo and Henchy get the podded meta-humans out, and Vertigo boom tubed them out with a Fatherbox. Vertigo, Henchy and Simon Ecks then got to a safe distance as Nightwing and Jace blew up the lab.
Vertigo, Henchy, Ecks and Plasmus soon caught up with Nightwing's squad by boom tube, after Henchy and Ecks had picked up some Apokoliptan weaponry, which Henchy used to take down the Super-Cycle. After Black Lightning freed Plasmus from their control, Henchy noted the fight was not going well, and escaped with Vertigo by boom tube.[11]
2020[]
Following Count Vertigo's incarceration, he remained in frequent contact with Henchy, and the two plotted his escape, but were unable to come up with a plan.[4]
When he stepped outside, Henchy was startled when a "Bat brat" descended upon him, and ran, but was corraled by El Dorado, then tied up by Robin. Looker then read his mind. After getting intel on his (lack of) involvement in Count Vertigo's recent escape, he was released.[4]
Henchy is based on the design for an unnamed minor character created for DC Showcase: Green Arrow, written by Greg Weisman, combined with a specific voice by Steve Blum which Weisman enjoys and has used on other shows.[12]
