Ìjúwe Japanese House Crest "Go-Shichi no Kiri": The Imperial Crest, Mikado's Seal, or Paulownia Imperialis (kiris) is the private symbol of the Japanese Imperial family from as early as the twelfth century. The use of it (3-5-3 leaves) and its derivatives were granted to valued members of the government. Toyotomi Hideyoshi took the 5-7-5 leaves version and used it so extensively that this derivative was associated with his clan. The 5-7-5 was later used in emblems of the Japanese government.[1][2]
