Endingvariables

Variables that will affect the ending, shown in one of the videos.

Endings refers to events that happen after successfully beating the game in any way. If the player failed to beat the game, it is referred to as a Game Over instead.

Overview[]

Since the game is still in early production, there is only one ending achievable: the Genocide Ending (the Demo Ending is not really an ending as it is just one of the cutscenes that play before Week 2). YandereDev has mentioned a few times on what kind of endings that the game might have, but they are not fully implemented yet.

It is confirmed that there will be multiple endings[1] which consist of several serious endings, one secret ending, one joke ending, and one true ending.[2] Ayano Aishi will get what she wants in every ending.[3] Taro Yamada's mental state by the end of the game will determine what ending will play out.[4] Even if he could develop PTSD, a personality complex, or a nervous disorder, Ayano would still know what methods to do or say to make Taro instantly fall for her.[5]

Depending on a specific way, however, is through the player's choices. Endings will range from happy, to sad, to bittersweet, to confusing.[3] Similarly, it is said that the game's story will have multiple plot twists.[6] The endings will be based upon how Ayano has been eliminating her rivals and how that affects Taro, along with special endings under special circumstances.[7]

Genocide Ending[]

Ending Genocide 1989

Ditto but with Jokichi.

If the protagonist eliminates the school population on the first day of gameplay without activating debug commands, activate easter eggs, or the police were informed while her Senpai is still present at school, this ending will be triggered. Corpses and evidence do not need to be properly disposed of or destroyed (i.e.: burning in the incinerator) to count towards the ending. Once the final NPC is registered as dead, the ending will be triggered and the screen will fade to black. The protagonist will confess to her Senpai, admits what she has done, and then kidnaps him. He is seen tied up to a chair in the basement, gagged and blindfolded. This is currently the only ending in the game aside from the demo ending.

After the genocide ending, Ayano mind-broke Taro and made him her obedient pet.[8][9] As the only two students whose corpses weren't found at school, the police would seek them for questioning and Ayano would make up a story about skipping school to go on a date with her boyfriend, and the police would believe her. With everyone at school dead, Akademi will close. Genka and Kocho would have to look for new jobs, Ayano would most likely continue her education in another school somewhere else, bringing Taro along with her, Info-chan would be too terrified of Ayano to ever contact her again, and the rivals (except Osana) would have to enroll in other schools, with Megami, who already had suspicions about Ayano, knows exactly why everyone at school died, and who was responsible for it, would most likely begin a crusade to hunt down Ayano and deliver extrajudicial justice.[8]

1980s Mode[]

Main article: 1980s Mode
1980EndingRyoba

The Journalist and The Police arrest Ryoba due to Sumire Saitozaki's murder.

Originally, there were to be two endings for this mode: a short and simple ending, and the canon ending.[10] However, in the January 5th build, a new ending was added, known as the Happy Ending.

As of the official release of 1980s Mode, on Week 11 after Ryoba has eliminated all of her 10 rivals, she will confess her love to Jokichi Yudasei at the Confession Tree, but the Journalist alongside the police interrupt her for the murder of Sumire Saitozaki that occurred 11 weeks ago. The Journalist believes that she has keen of eliminating her rivals, and accuses Ryoba of Sumire's murder, arresting her in the process. Ryoba and the Journalist are then at the courtroom, discussing Sumire's murder, and the information that Journalist has is that rumor from Ui Tunesu, seeing Ryoba carrying a weapon and a garbage bag to the incinerator, disponsing of not only the evidence, but as well as Sumire's corpse. The player will get a grade to determined how they well the performance is of the mode. If Ryoba has a lot â€” or half â€” of her innocent points (such as befriending and increasing reputation), she will be found innocent and receive grades from A to S. After the case being closed, Ryoba kidnaps her Senpai as a prisoner in her basement, fearing that he will reject her love confession after the events of the court.

Canon Ending (S+)[]

Ending True 1989

Ryoba in the "True Ending" cutscene.

There is a hidden grade called S+, which unlocks the ending, along with meeting the requirements for S. This will only occur if Ryoba eliminates all of her rivals in canonical and accurate ways. After she gets home from the store, she realizes that Jokichi has gone missing and begins to panic. She then notices there's a letter in the table, and learns that Jokichi has been abducted by the Saikou Corporation, and demands her to come to the abandoned warehouse titled "AD79," which she must arrive before one hour has passed. Afterwards, the timeline of Yandere Simulator will begin after the ending.

Happy Ending[]

Ending Happy 1989

Ryoba and Jokichi in the "Happy Ending" cutscene.

There exists a third, secret ending, known as the Happy Ending, where Ryoba confesses her love to Jokichi peacefully and without interruptions. The trial does not occur in this ending. This occurs in a seperate timeline, where the Journalist is not investigating Ryoba. To trigger the Happy Ending, Ryoba must call Ichiko Saikou's phone number in the 1980s tutorial. You can find the phone number in the basement in 202X mode. In the tutorial, go to the faculty room and dial the number using the phone on the desk. This will create a time paradox, as Ryoba only learns of Ichiko's phone number in 1990, however she is calling her in 1989. After calling the number, Fun Girl will appear and explain to the player that they have created a time paradox, and Ryoba can get her happy ending if she follows certain instructions. Fun Girl instructs the player to craft a Stink Bomb at Ui Tunesu, so she will not see Ryoba take the knife from the Cooking Club, and therefore the Journalist will not investigate Ryoba. Then, Ryoba must proceed through the following 9 weeks while eliminating her rivals peacefully. She must also have the highest reputation in the school, leave gifts and romantic notes for Jokichi and not kill any other students. As the Journalist is not investigating her, Sonoko Sakanoue will not appear as a rival. If Ryoba follows Fun Girl's instructions properly, Jokichi will reciprocate her feelings in the ending. It's important to note that this is not a canon ending.

Hypothetical or Planned[]

The list of hypotheticals but not officially confirmed or planned endings and different factors that may affect them include:

  • Pacifistic ending. It will be possible to win the game without hurting anyone. YandereDev has said that this ending is one of the most important aspects of the game's design since the beginning, being very committed to it.[11]
  • Not helping Info-chan. If Ayano is committed to get rid of the rivals non-lethally but never take panty shots for Info-chan, a different ending will play out. However, YandereDev has not revealed what type of ending that this will be.[12]
  • Final confrontation. The final confrontation against Megami Saikou is said to be able to go a variety of ways; could it be violent or something else.[13]
  • Confessing to Taro. YandereDev has confirmed that Ayano will only confess to Taro if all ten rivals have been eliminated. If her reputation is -100 or lower, Taro will reject her confession.[14] Additionally, the result may be affected by whether or not Ayano has been leaving anonymous notes and gifts to him.
  • 10 Rivals in basement. There will be a special ending for keeping ten rivals in Ayano's basement. Any less than that, and Ayano will keep them as pets forever or will exterminate them off camera.[15]
  • Mind-broken Senpai. Taro Yamada's sanity will influence some of the game's endings.[16] There will be an ending having him that way once he reaches 0 % sanity.[17] In an interview with Techraptor, YandereDev once explained that if Taro discovers five corpses over the course of the game, especially Osana Najimi and/or Hanako Yamada, he will become so mentally traumatized that he will essentially be a vegetable. When Ayano Aishi confesses her feelings for him, he will not be able to acknowledge her. Ayano will interpret his silence as consent, and will begin a relationship with him despite being mute, traumatized, and mind-broken.[18]
    • In the future, if Taro were to find out that Ayano was involved in his sister's or childhood friend's death, he would be enraged and punish her by violently killing her to avenge the deaths of his loved ones.[19]

Trivia[]

  • Depending on the ending, peacefully going back to Akademi may be impossible.[20]
  • It is possible that the amount of suffering in each ending may be directly equivalent to the amount of suffering that Ayano Aishi brings in on others.[2]
  • The Journalist may appear in one of the endings, but it has not been confirmed which one he will appear.[21]
  • A choice the player makes during the game's "true ending" will determine what age when Ayano becomes pregnant.[22]
  • The endings probably will not extend too far into the future.[23]
  • In the final game, seduction may affect the ending cutscene.[24]
  • Ayano will state a true and clear statement that "spells out" exactly how she feels about Taro in the "True Ending" cutscene.[25]
    • YandereDev envisions this to be the final dialogue before the credits roll.[25]
