Monado Eater is one of Shulk's Monado arts in Xenoblade Chronicles. The colour of the blade darkens and charges corrosive dark Ether particles. This allows Shulk to fire a blast at the enemies in front in a cone area. On impact the attack will deal ether damage, remove buffs, and inflict Bleed on the targeted enemies. Shulk learns Monado Eater by obtaining an ancient book from King Agni's Tomb. The area is only accessible by completing a series of four quests given by Lupa in Frontier Village, starting with Mystery of Makna Ruins 1 and finishing with Mystery of Makna Ruins 4. In Future Connected, Shulk has this art automatically.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 2[]
In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Monado Eater is used by Malos as one of his arts when he is fought at the Cliffs of Morytha, as well as both fights against him in Torna ~ The Golden Country. It is a dark element ether attack that hits in an area in front of him. Anyone hit by this art will be inflicted by Affinity Down.
Malos uses Monado Eater to create destruction. When Malos uses Monado Eater, he creates a large field of dark energy that destroys any matter it touches.
In Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed[]
In Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed, Monado Eater is one of the arts used by Alpha. Like in Xenoblade Chronicles, Monado Eater inflicts Bleed. Additionally, Alpha's movements when using the art are identical to Shulk's when using Eater in Xenoblade Chronicles, with the color of the Monado's blade even turning black.
Trivia[]
- The symbol that appears on the Monado when Monado Eater is activated is the kanji "喰", which literally means "to eat (a prey)". Eater thus is one of the only few arts that has a kanji that literally translates to its skill.
- In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the Monado Eater Symbol is displayed on the Monado, when equipped as a Swordfighter weapon skin, when using Edge Thrust.
