Goetia (Japanese: ゲーティア, Gētia; English dub: /ˌɡoʊˈɛt.i.ə/) is an antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles X and a Ganglion executive. She is of the race of the Ganglion, the founders of the coalition. She first meets the party after the Prone destroy a Lifehold Archive. She is fought by the party but is defeated and saved by an ally. She is later encountered in Oblivia, where she destroys another Lifehold while Irina is trying to open it. During this encounter, she pilots her own mech, Almandal. She is killed in the explosion following Almandal's defeat.

"A lead member of the Ganglion who lives for violent combat. Her tentacles contain special electrical organs that allow her to discharge staggering high-voltage blasts."

Battle[]

She is a Main Boss, fought at level 16 at Sunlit Spring in Noctilum during Chapter 4. She is assisted by two Marnuck Rooks in this battle.

She is fought again at level 28 in Oblivia during Chapter 7. She pilots the Almandal in this encounter.

In the Time Attack Mission Xeno from the Abyss she is fought alone at a poison pond near Lotus Keep Building Site.

Etymology[]

Goetia's name is possibly derived from the Ars Goetia, the first book of The Lesser Key of Solomon. The word Goetia itself is derived from the Greek word "γοητεία", meaning witchcraft or charm.
