Article Feedback Tool update
[edit]Hey Wiki.0hlic. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.
Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 22:07, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

2017 Pakistan Super League team articles
[edit]Hi. I notice you've been adding content to the team articles for teams which play in the Pakistan Super League. Could you consider splitting those sections off into articles dealing each each team please? Fo example, Islamabad United in 2017 could be created as an article rather than a redirect along the lines of Islamabad United in 2016. The detail of the season can go in that article then which will allow us to have a short summary only in the main article?
As you seem to be a major contributor to the team articles it makes more sense if you were to do so. Thanks. Blue Square Thing (talk) 17:48, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Balochistan election 2013
[edit]Good work on the maps for the provincial assembly election! In case you are thinking of creating one for Balochistan, just wanted to warn you that a page for the provincial election in Balochistan doesn’t currently exist, so if you want to we could create one together, like we did for the senate election? Masterpha (talk) 17:08, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- Masterpha Thanks! I know. I was meaning to reach out to you on this. I think we should definitely make one. You can start working on the page and I will begin working on the map. Once I am done with the map, I can come and help you with any work remaining to be done on the page. Do leave a link to the page in the conversation here.
- Appreciate all the work you have been doing on the election pages!
JUI (F) meta color
[edit]Hi! There seems to be a dilemma regarding the JUI (F) meta color. Whilst I understand that black is a suitable colour for it, the problem is that PPP also has black as their colour. Both parties having the same colour might cause confusion, as can been seen on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa section of the senate election. Are there any alternatives to black that would be acceptable, or should we leave it as it is? Regards, Masterpha (talk) 17:07, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
- Very valid point Masterpha, whenever there is such a clash of colors when I make election maps, I go with the nature of the stake. For example, in Sindh, Senate, Punjab, and National levels, PPP has the primary stake because of its magnitude. In this case, it gets black and JUI gets a neutral color. The situation is reversed with JUI's position in KP and Baluchistan. Therefore, I recommend to force a non-meta color on JUI candidates - I have used the following hex in the Senate 2018 map: E3E80F. In fact, I will do it right now. Best, Wiki.0hlic (talk) 19:24, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks for pointing it out! Wiki.0hlic (talk) 19:31, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Delimitation
[edit]You need to hold on to your horses regarding delimitation. My suggestion is to move all old pages for the constituencies where delimitation happened to "page's former name" with years (1998-2018) next to the name, then create new pages for new constituencies and add (2018-Present) in the title. Do not move the old constituency names to new ones, it would confuse the hades out of people. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 20:40, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- SheriffIsInTown I am working with two official documents: the old delimitations and the new ones, and comparing the delimited areas. In almost all cases, the new delimitation is exactly the same as the older one apart from when a new constituency is created or an older one abolished. When there is a new constituency, I make a new page. And if a constituency is abolished, I tag it as abolished on the old page. And then on the moved pages, I mention the areas of the old constituency that have been distributed in the newer ones. As for the old constituencies name still being there, I will deal with them on the second pass-through. I am keeping them there for my reference so that when I add more info to these pages regarding the delims, I mention that before the new numbering it was called NA-XX - to guide people who are more familiar with their older constituencies. Wiki.0hlic (talk) 20:56, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- SheriffIsInTown, Here is how things would look like when I am done with the 2nd pass.
- Can you tell me the name of a constituency you tagged abolished, I want to see how it looks like? I think we should move the abolished constituency to article name with years (1998-2018) and completely new constituencies with years such as (2018-Present), the ones which change slightly, those can keep same names detailing the information in the article about what areas it included before 2018 and after 2018.
- Pinging @Worldbruce: as they have done great work on Bangladesh constituency pages, if they can share their knowledge and expertise about how to better manage Pakistan pages. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 21:13, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
- @SheriffIsInTown Constituency NA-102 and Constituency NA-103, Constituency NA-98, Constituency NA-79 and Constituency NA-59. Only in the case of the merger between NA-102 and NA-103 was a totally new constituency created. In other cases, the abolished constituencies got absorbed in one or more of the older constituencies. More than you want to know about Bangladeshi constituencies
|
---|
Constituency naming is problematic any way you do it. Bangladeshi constituencies have a serial number, a name, and a geographic extent. For example seat 159, Netrakona-3 (Atpara and Kendua). Scholarly and news sources overwhelmingly refer to that as Netrokona-3, only occasionally calling it Netrokona-3 (Atpara and Kendua), or simply Atpara and Kendua, and never using the serial number 159. Government lists frequently use the serial number, but never alone, only in concert with the name. In accordance with WP:COMMONNAME, Wikipedia will title its article Netrokona-3. The possible names for Pakistani constituencies are probably similar, but which of the possible names to use depends on the predominate use in reliable sources, which may be different than in the case of Bangladesh.
Before Netrokona was split off from Mymensingh district and made into a district of its own, the constituency that covered the same area was called Mymensingh-17. I handle this by explaining in a "History" section that Netrokona-3 was created in 1984 from Mymensingh-17, and by setting the "previous" field of the infobox. [The article about the former constituency would be titled Mymensingh-17, without a disambiguator unless the district, which currently has 11 seats, were to grow back to 17, in which case there would be a historical Mymensingh-17 (1973-1984) and an unrelated current Mymensingh-17]. Another complication is that the area encompassed by Netrokona-3 could change with each election. Next time it might cover Madan and Mohanganj. Fortunately radical changes are rare. Most delimitations change the extent in minor ways, such as to "Atpara and Kendua except one small part of Kendua" or "Atpara and Kendua plus one small part of Madan". I handle this by explaining in the history section how each redistricting has changed the boundaries of the constituency. I made the editorial decision to treat Netrokona-3 as one topic from the first use of the name until an election in which the name was discontinued, regardless of changes to the area it covers. Another approach would have been to create separate articles each time the boundaries changed, or each time they changed in a big way, potentially Netrokona-3 (1984-1988), Netrokona-3 (1988-1991), Netrokona-3 (1991-1996), ... I chose not to do that because I believed that more and smaller articles would be less useful to the reader, obscuring the political tides more than illuminating them. Your examples of Pakistani constituencies are a bit confusing to me, but the subject is inherently difficult to explain. It might help to describe boundary changes early in the article, as is common with UK constituencies (such as Peterborough (UK Parliament constituency)), rather than burying boundary changes in between election results tables. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:03, 11 May 2018 (UTC) |
- Thanks, Worldbruce! Wiki.0hlic, you are doing good, I just wanted to make sure that we have a proper plan before too much work is done otherwise we will have to rollback a lot of it. I am still not very sure about the names of abolished constituencies but that can be changed later if we decide to do that. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 14:33, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, if we follow WP:COMMONNAME which we should, the word constituency is never mentioned by sources as part of the name, we should drop it from the article title. For old constituencies, we should keep the region reference in the title, for example, Constituency NA-102 should be moved to NA-102 (Hafizabad I). Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 14:50, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, SheriffIsInTown. So, you are proposing that the constituency pages should use this nomenclature: NA-XX (District-XX)? I was also thinking the same, but the older pages had Constituency appended to the title so I stuck with that.Wiki.0hlic (talk) 14:58, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, but you can finish your current work then we can act upon this idea. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 15:01, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Sounds good, SheriffIsInTown, I will ping you when I am done with the first pass-through. Regards, Wiki.0hlic (talk) 15:04, 11 May 2018 (UTC).
- Roger that! Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 15:50, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Pinging SheriffIsInTown. Whew, done with the constituency moves. You can go ahead and move the pages that still have the word constituency in their names. They will only be located in KPK, Islamabad\FATA, and Punjab. However, there are constituencies in these areas that I have done after our earlier discussion, so they will already have the constituency tag not present in their titles. In fact, all of Sindh and Balochistan constituencies and about half of those from Punjab and KP won't have the word "Constituency" in their title. The rest you can fix. Best, Wiki.0hlic (talk) 20:44, 18 May 2018 (UTC).

I do not see constituencies for Chitral, will you create the pages later, for example NA-1 (Chitral-1). Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 20:54, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
- SheriffIsInTown, I have created all of them. Here is the Chitral one: Constituency NA-1 (Chitral). You will just have to re-move the page and remove the word "Constituency" from the title. Please use this Wiki template. Just click on the old constituency name and you will be redirected to the new one. If there is "constituency" in the title, work your magic! :) Wiki.0hlic (talk) 21:04, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
- It looks like you already moved all of them or am I wrong? On the side note, do you know which old constituency covered charges 7 to 13 of municipality of Peshawar, now part of NA-31 (Peshawar-V)? Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 14:19, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- SheriffIsInTown, yes, I have moved most. Been working on them. Previously the urban portion of Peshawar (municipality of Peshawar (incl. Hayatabad), and Cantt) were divided in three constituencies, NA-1, NA-2, and NA-3. With NA-3 having a major chunk of rural areas of Peshawar distt and some areas of the municipality. Now the new NA-5 is carved out from a contiguous urban section formerly in these 3 constituencies, in view of the population size. It hasn't come from a single constituency.Wiki.0hlic (talk) 16:32, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

You're messing things up for the rest of us. You need to fix pages such as Constituency NA-99 (Chiniot-I). --Saqib (talk) 17:05, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Please elaborate, Saqib. Here is the plan so far: First pass: Compare old and new delimitations and move pages. Second pass: Update constituency data along with information on which old constituency does the new one relate to. Third pass: Categorize pages, and add area info. Currently on First Pass with half of Sindh done and Balochistan left. If you are referring to the old constituency names still being there, they are going to be removed during the second pass. I am keeping them for reference so I can add info on old constituency number. Wiki.0hlic (talk) 18:01, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Okay fine. --Saqib (talk) 20:26, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

- So, that means, half of NA-57 and half of NA-59 went to NA-55, same way with NA-56? Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 13:15, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- Nope, SheriffIsInTown, all of NA-57 and half of NA-59. For the new NA-56, it is all of old NA-58 and the other half of NA-59.Wiki.0hlic (talk) 15:22, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- So, that means, half of NA-57 and half of NA-59 went to NA-55, same way with NA-56? Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 13:15, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
Is this additional area added after 2018 delimitation or is that total area for this constituency? Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 08:41, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- @SheriffIsInTown:, Old NA-51 previously included just Gujjar Khan tehsil, in the new delims a small area of the new Kallar Syedan tehsil is included in it. The rest of it stays with the Murree constituency (old NA-50, new NA-57) like the previous delims.Wiki.0hlic (talk) 17:50, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
The areas for this constituency came from both old constituencies (NA-48 and NA-49) or just one of them, if so then which one? Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 14:07, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) SheriffIsInTown From what I know, NA-54 is the same as NA-48. --Saqib (talk) 17:47, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, ICT got an extra constituency. According to Wiki.0hlic's updates NA-53 is same as NA-48 and NA-52 is same as NA-49. NA-54 is an extra constituency, I am assuming that it took some areas from both NA-48 and NA-49 but I am not sure. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 17:56, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- SheriffIsInTown I know its a new constituency. NA-54 comprises of census charge no 3, 4, 5, 13 and 14 of ICT. These charge charge were previously part of NA-48. --Saqib (talk) 18:26, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Saqib: So, 48 was divided into 52 and 54 while 49 continued unchanged into 53? Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 18:32, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- @SheriffIsInTown: Its areas only came from NA-48. Translating the census charges to areas; it includes anything East of '10' sectors (E10, F10, G10, H10, I10) as well as F8 and F9 and E7 through E9. The new NA-53, meanwhile contains the remaining urban portion of Islamabad, while carving into the semi-urban and rural territory of old NA-49 (Sohan, Chattar, Bara Kahu, area around Rawal Dam and likes).Wiki.0hlic (talk) 18:46, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- SheriffIsInTown I suggest you consult old and new delimitation.--Saqib (talk) 18:49, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Could you please point exactly to what you are vaguely alluding to in this edit summary? I don't believe the word I deleted is appropriate - or necessary - in a non-living bio, where there is a definite start and end date stated. Also note children are technically not 'born' named - this occurs later in a formal civil sequence and/or naming ceremony. You can respond here. Thank you.--86.29.222.228 (talk) 22:50, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
- @86.29.222.228: - Lead is the initial section of a Wikipedia article that has to conform to certain guidelines. In the case of a different popular and birth name, your edit conflicted with what is an accepted format in Wiki articles: [1], [2], [3], [4, [5].
- Thank you for confirming there is no written substantiation to support this - as I strongly suspected - only
...what is an accepted format in Wiki articles
.--86.29.222.228 (talk) 14:06, 24 March 2019 (UTC)- Everything isn't codified in WPs. We can't have hundreds of biography articles following different formats because one of the contributing editors on them thinks it is appropriate to do so. - Wiki.0hlic (talk) 18:18, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Your signature and linter errors
[edit]Just a reminder that your signature contains obsolete font tags. They create Linter errors, and it is advised that you change your signature to [[User:Wiki.0hlic|<b style="color:#01A0CA;">Wiki.0hlic</b>]] [[User talk:Wiki.0hlic|<span style="color: #01A0CA;">(talk)</span>]]
ASAP.
The purpose of this message is because Linter errors affect the way the page looks, and with a lot of errors, the page may render badly. To reduce Linter errors, please change your signature. See WP:SIGFONT for more info.
If the software doesn't accept my replacement signature, let me know, and if that's the case, unfortunately you may have to change it to something else. Sheep (talk) 15:36, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
