Unblocked
[edit]Following receipt of VRTS ticket # 2010050710017209 I have unblocked this account. I have emailed you some advice for subjects of biographies. Guy (Help!) 17:28, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for unblocking me, can you tell me how to lock my biography page? Thanks (Littlebootsofficial (talk) 23:15, 14 July 2011 (UTC))
- You can learn about page protection by reading WP:Protection policy. Tiderolls 23:22, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Conflict of interest explains that one should not edit an article about themselves. There are peocesses in place to help you acheive your goals, providing Wikipedia's policies and guidelines are observed. Tiderolls 23:39, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Oh ok thank I'll check it out, sorry I'm new to all this and don't really understand it! (Littlebootsofficial (talk) 23:42, 14 July 2011 (UTC))
- No worries. If you have questions about any policies or guidelines, post them here and someone should be able to help. Tiderolls 23:45, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- On a side note, I've requested semi-protection on your bio, per WP:BLP. If it is not protected, you can try OTRS. Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 23:43, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you I very much appreciate that... think I'm starting to get the hang of it! (Littlebootsofficial (talk) 23:46, 14 July 2011 (UTC))
- Another side note; if you see a glaring error in the article you can post a message on the article's talk page someone will be able to make the edit for you. Providing the policies and guidelines, blah, blah, blah... Tiderolls 23:50, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi. I've semi-protected your bio. Bear in mind this doesn't lock the page to everyone but it should stop random people passing by from adding random bits of info. Sorry if people have made this confusing. P.S. Feel free to release the next album anytime. – Steel 01:55, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, my birthday is still wrong will I be able to change it? Or if I could just remove it would make me less depressed but I guess that's not possible! I'm working on the new album all the time I'm so frustrated by how long its taking but i guess that's just the way it goes! (Littlebootsofficial (talk) 08:05, 15 July 2011 (UTC))
- Hi, Wikipedia works (or tries to work!) on the principle that the information on a page is verifiable (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:V, and also an introduction about how to apply it at [[1]]). I know it sounds ridiculous that you know your own birthday, but the problem that any encyclopedia has is 'provenance of information', or verifiability, so it's important that anyone should be able to find reliable sources for that information. Therefore the way in which to get your birthday (or any other facts about you) established on your page is to find a published / publicly available source that has the correct details on it, and then reference that. Until that happens, it's your word against anyone else. Don't let it get to you - I also have also seen many factual inaccuracies about all sorts of things on Wikipedia that I know, from direct personal experience, to be totally untrue - what is worse is when there are published works that appear to be reliable, and then these distortions become enshrined as truth which can be very distressing when they deal with living people and recent events. Let me do you
[edit]Great double entendre to start with. Hi I'm a big fan and I'd be more than honored to fix up and properly edit/source content on your page and related pages. I've already fixed stuff like production credits and whatnot. If you have anything you want changed please let me, I don't want you putting time here where it could be better spent elsewhere (gosh I can't imagine where though...)
