Scott Kenneth Homer Bessent (born June 6, 1980) is an American investor and hedge fund manager who has served as United States secretary of the Treasury since 2025.

In November 2024, president-elect Donald Trump named Bessent as his nominee for secretary of the Treasury. A Senate Committee on Finance committee hearing for Bessent was held days before Trump's second inauguration. He was confirmed by the Senate. He is the second openly gay man to serve in the Cabinet of the United States, after Pete Buttigieg, and the highest-ranking openly LGBTQ person in U.S. history.
