Vivienne Pinay
Vivienne Pinay is the stage name of Michael Pinay,[1] a drag performer who competed on season 5 of RuPaul's Drag Race.
Early life
Pinay became interested in drag at a young age, after seeing RuPaul on VH1.[2]
Career
Pinay is a drag performer; he has said of his drag persona Vivienne Pinay: "Vivienne is named after my Southern Grandmother. And Pinay means Filipino girl."[2] Pinay also sells wigs.[1]
Vivienne Pinay competed on season 5 of RuPaul's Drag Race. On the fourth episode, she and Honey Mahogany placed in the bottom two of a challenge in which contestants performed in a ballet based on the life of RuPaul. Neither contestant impressed RuPaul enough during a lip-sync to "Oops!... I Did It Again" (2000) by Britney Spears,[3] and both were eliminated from the competition in the first-ever double elimination by RuPaul in the show's history.[1][4] Since Drag Race, Vivienne Pinay "decided to keep a low profile and abandoned this drag persona", according to Out magazine.[5]
Personal life
Pinay was born in the U.S. and is of Filipino descent.[1] In 2013, he had a boyfriend and two dogs.[2]
