Carboni announces retirement plan
AMEDEO CARBONI has announced that he will retire from active football with Valencia at the end of the season and take up a role with the coaching staff of the team.
The 37-year-old has been part of one of the most successful defences in recent years in Spain, but feels at his age it is time to let someone younger through.
Speaking exclusively to Planetfootball.com, Carboni said: "Yes, if nothing strange happens we will close the agreement soon.
"I believe that I can be very useful to Valencia."
The Italian arrived in Spain from Roma in July 1997 and has become something of an idol for El Che team, having won a league, a Copa del Rey, a Supercopa and played in two Champions League finals without winning.
"I think that we can collaborate on many things as far as players and plans for the youth team," added Carboni.
