Description(s)
When Mario’s in Danger, he receives only half the damage. (Paper Mario)
Drop damage Mario receives by 1/2 when he is in Danger. (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Nintendo GameCube)
Reduce the damage Mario takes by half when he has 5 HP or less. Wearing two or more of these badges further decreases the damage he takes. (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Nintendo Switch)

Last Stand is a badge in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. When it is worn and Mario is in Danger, he takes half damage.

In Paper Mario, the quotient is rounded down. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it is instead rounded up; this is calculated after the effects of guarding and other defense badges, so that Last Stand can no longer completely nullify damage that would be nonzero without it.[1]

Multiple copies of Last Stand can be equipped in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Each copy increments the denominator of the damage multiplier—that is, two copies reduce damage taken in Danger to one third, three copies reduce it to one quarter, and so on.

Locations[edit]

In Paper Mario, Last Stand is found in a treasure chest in Peach's Castle. If obtained while playing as Princess Peach, the player can send it to Mario via the Mysterious Treasure Chest.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Last Stand can be found in Glitzville, inside a big blue metal crate on the ground in the hallway of the Glitz Pit; bought from the Lovely Howz of Badges for 50 coins; or stolen from Hyper Goombas, Hyper Spiky Goombas, Hyper Paragoombas, and Green Fuzzies.
