“Timely and refreshing... recalibrating the debate about cities and (uneven) development... a must read.” David Bassens reviews 'The Wealth of Cities and the Poverty of Nations' by Christof Parnreiter in the latest issue of The AAG Review of Books.

Congratulations to Andrew Thomson and Rubrick Biegon on the publication today of their new book 'The War on Terror'. “This much-needed book gives us a vital introduction to the War on Terror's emergence, evolution and global impacts. Wide-ranging and analytically perceptive, it offers an essential overview of the United States' political and military response to 9/11.” - Lee Jarvis “This sharp, insightful history traces the origins of the war on terror, and examines its profound impacts for global security, human rights and the rule of law. A must-read for anyone seeking to understand the enduring legacy of this pivotal era and its far-reaching consequences.” - Ruth J Blakeley “This fast-moving and highly readable account is by far and away the best starting-point for thinking about an ill-defined conflict which even today shows no signs of coming to an end. A must read for students and scholars alike.” - Michael Cox #USForeignPolicy #InternationalSecurity #InternationalRelations #WorldPolitics

“At last, a fresh way to understand the urgency – and opportunity – of ecological sustainability... he elucidates how biodiversity conservation can improve societal as well as environmental security by driving sustainable income for at-risk populations while creating long-lasting incentives for the preservation of complex natural ecosystems.” Steven Overman on 'KILLING THE TRADE' by Dr Richard Milburn MBE of Department of War Studies at King's College London. #WorldWildlifeDay #WWD2025 #IllegalWildlifeTrade #IWT #WildlifeTrafficking #ProtectWildlife

The illegal wildlife trade is estimated to be worth up to $20 billion per year and threatens the survival of thousands of species of flora and fauna. Poaching is dangerous and poorly paid with those capturing wildlife often receiving only a few cents of the dollar value of the overall trade. For the organised criminal groups who trade the goods bought from the poachers, on the other hand, it is a low-risk, high-reward enterprise. In my new book, 'Killing the Trade', I argue that with a shift in strategy this dire situation can be turned on its head. Built around the guiding principle – if it pays it stays – the book proposes an innovative but practical action-plan to help bring the multi-billion-dollar trade to an end, inspired by the work and insights of the Tusk and Whitley Fund for Nature Awards winner and The Earthshot Prize finalist John Kahekwa and the Pole Pole Foundation. The book is on sale now via all good booksellers including Amazon, Blackwells, and Waterstones. The Amazon link is here: https://lnkd.in/eQQ848ZZ #IWT #WildlifeTrafficking

A big 'Thank you' to both Confor: Confederation of Forest Industries (UK) and Scottish Woodlands Ltd for their decision to award me their 2025 'Changing Attitudes Award'. It certainly was my intention when I set about writing 'Timber! How wood can help save the world from climate breakdown' to do just that - change attitudes. We've still a long way to go but timber builds have a growing share of construction both in the UK and across the rest of Europe - despite the housing market being essentially stagnant. Longer term, 4Q 2025 and in 2026, we believe we will have a growing share of a growing market. CEI Bois Timber Development UK Agenda Publishing
