Clean Historical Romantic Suspense

I did not realize that this book was the third in the series when I began reading it; however, it didn’t really matter. The story was interesting and enjoyable without the background of the first two novels. I enjoyed reading this book, and I definitely recommend it to you if you enjoy historical romance that is closer to history and clean with a little suspense thrown in.

I received an ARC from NetGalley.
Mm-mm. This is a great novel with a heart-tugging, plot-twisting, nail-biting romance. Sure the history is great, educational and thought-provoking. And the suspense is full of life-threatening and story-propelling events, but for me, it was the romance that made this a page turner for me.

This is the third in the Edge of Freedom series. Without having read the first in the series, I still followed the story without any trouble. So here's what it's about.

Tilli McGrath had no idea that her life was going to be turned upside down when Captain Keondric Morgan stopped by unexpectantly. He’s there to check on her, since her husband died on his ship a year or two prior, he felt obligated to make sure she was doing alright. But there was more show more to it than that, and he didn’t have the nerve to explain everything.

Shortly after his visit, life became more than complicated. With the death of one of his crewmen, and several attempts on Tilli’s life, Morgan finally came to terms with revealing the whole truth to those involved. At least the part of the truth that he knew. Then the real mystery began as one question was answered, more questions developped.

And of course, in the middle of all of this, more than one person falls in love. And the question of love, and the sacrifice one gives for love, is posed. And when does the sacrifice become selfish and prideful, or can a sacrifice–one made out of love, be selfish?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend for any historical romance fan to pick up a copy for yourself. Elizabeth Ludwig is a talented writer with so much knowledge on this time period and the struggle of the Irish, that she takes the reader on a journey to the past that I’m sure you will enjoy.

This is the third book in the Edge of Freedom series. Tillie travels to America to start a new life, but on the way over, her plans have to change. The new life she has planned changes after the death of her fiancée and she begin a new life with new friends. She has begun her new life, but soon someone from her past comes back and everything changes.
I enjoyed this book even though I have not read the others in the series. I didn't have trouble following along in this book. Tillie showed real courage in having to start over in a new country and having to make new plans when her original ones changes. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good suspense and historical events.
I received this book free to review.
