Like most self-published books, the main problem here is one of mechanics. The often awkwardly constructed sentences are littered with errors both typographic and grammatical. Underneath all that, however, is a germ of a promising story. The land of Ambercore is at once beautiful and dangerous, and full of surprises. Its varied inhabitants have richly detailed histories and relations. I won't lie to you: Ambercore is an extremely poorly written book and I would definitely not recommend it. show more However, given enough time and a good editor, Williams has the potential to churn out some decent fantasy. I'll be on the lookout for his next work. show less
Earth Dragon Canon is an interesting text. I expected a treatise on the philosophical underpinnings of Bagua and what that means to the modern martial artist. Rather what i got instead was the authors personal journey and experience with Bagua and the method he has found useful for his personal journey. This text strikes me more as conversation than it does a book which is a plus. I think this book is most useful as a supplement to beginning practitioner. I rate it at a three because i found show more myself often wanting more details or fuller explanation regarding the history of Bagua and its influences though to be fair the authors point is not to tell the history of Bagua but show what he has found to be effective for him. show less
