The Cons * Not allot of content * Clunky movement * Matches end too quickly * Bland Road to Elite mode * Barebones creation suite * Can't edit wrestler attributes or skills

Final Verdict: Playing AEW Fight Forever is fun for a bit but afterwards you soon realise how barren the game really is. And coming from experienced wrestling video game devs, Yukes (worked on WWE 2K14 and previous games), it's pretty disappointing.

WWE 2K14 (2013)

Personal Fav Wrestling Game

The Pros * Simple but effective gameplay * 30 Years of WM Showcase mode (way better than 40 Years of WM from 2K24) * Defeat the Streak mode * Great additional creation modes such as create a story and finisher * In-depth creation suite * Graphics are pretty decent * Allot of fun match types

The Cons * Multi-man matches can be clunky * Few bugs and glitches

Final Verdict: WWE 2K14 IMO the best wrestling game I've played and looking back it's not hard to see why. With simplistic "arcadey" gameplay and many nostalgic game modes, this is why people look back fondly on WWE 2K14.

Until Dawn (2015)

Until Dawn Review

The Pros

• Great graphics and animation
• Great voice acting
• "Don't move" game mechanic creates tense situations
• Dr Hill sequences (thou kinda under-utilised during latter portion of game)

The Cons

• Overuse of jump scares (especially near start of game)
• Allot of horror cliches (thou kinda intentional)
• Some slow and mundane parts
• Some choices don't result in allot of difference
• Clunky movement and awkward fixed camera angles

Final Verdict: Until Dawn is a Quantic Dream-like game made by Supermassive and is a pretty decent version of a teen slasher movie. It's a bit limited compared to the likes of Detroit Become Human or Heavy Rain, but Until Dawn is still a fun ride.

Final Rating: 7.5 / 10.

Resident Evil 2 (2019)

Resident Evil 2 Remake

The Pros

• Amazing level design
• Amazing graphics
• Great gameplay
• Good story and characters
• Great music (OG music is great addition too)
• Great voice acting and animation
• Great scary atmosphere
• Mr X is terrifying!!!

• Not reliant on jump scares
• Highly replayable (with multiple character playthroughs)

The Cons

• Can be a bit clunky (especially during boss fights)
• Needs a dodge or roll button

Final Verdict: One of the landmarks of horror gaming, Resident Evil 2 Remake is essentially a complete rebuild of the original game while improving on its dated aspects, as well as adding totally new content. Easily one of the best video game remasters to get.

Final Rating: 9 / 10.

Outlast (2013)

Outlast Review

The Pros

• Amazing scary atmosphere
• Great sound design
• Great graphics
• Good voice acting
• Good story and characters
• Effective jump scares

The Cons

• Some tedious sections (too many "pull all 3 valves" puzzles)
• Gameplay can be abit clunky
• Very "trial and error" (designed to fail multiple times until you find the correct path)
• Not very replayable

Final Verdict: Despite some tedious objectives as well as allot of "trial and error" gameplay throughout, Outlast is still a truly scary horror game with a killer atmosphere. Although, not quite that replayable imo.

Final Rating: 7.5 / 10.

Undertale (2015)

Undertale Review

The Pros:

• Great story and characters
• Great humour and writing
• Simple but unique combat system
• Simple but charming art-style
• Choices matter and game reacts to choices made
• Great music
• Surprisingly emotional

The Cons:

• Graphics are admittedly basic
• Game is pretty short
• Simplistic mechanics

Final Verdict: Undertale really reinforces that games don't need big budgets and amazing graphics to be great. Undertale utilises witty writing and unique ideas to create a surprisingly heartfelt and emotional (albeit relatively short) experience. Overall great game.

Final Rating: 8.5/10.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011)

Pros:

• Great story
• Interesting characters
• Deep and expansive open world
• Great RPG elements
• Multiple factions
• Simple but satisfying gameplay
• Graphics are more pleasing compared to previous Bethesda games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion
• Great skill tree and progression
• Good character customisation
• Purchasing homes
• Dragons!!

Verdict: Elder scrolls V: Skyrim delivers on an expansive RPG open-world while also improving on combat which was considered a weak element in many previous Bethesda games. Plus, loads more content with DLC.

Ghost of Tsushima (2020)

• Interesting side quests and activities
• Good progression

Cons:

• Abit repetitive
• Clunky camera
• Potential for more RPG elements and branching story paths
• Objectives can be abit restrictive

Verdict: Ghost of Tsushima is truly the last game of the PS4 era, thus ending in greatness. Though not perfect as it's a little formulaic with a few missed opportunities, this is still a must play for PS4 owners and is one of the best open world games on this generation of console.

Also Iki Island expansion is a must buy if you loved GOT!

• Can get abit repetitive

Verdict: Borderlands 2 has allot of content to offer, as well having it's great humour and witty writing. The gunplay and the acquiring of valuable loot makes this loot shooter extremely addicting.

• Story isn't really a main focus
• Can be too challenging for some

Verdict: Bloodborne is well-regarded as one of the best souls-like games. The challenge and difficulty of the game is where allot of the main interest is, as story or characters aren't really the focus. Overall, this is a must play for PS4 owners, but be warned of the difficulty.

• Gameplay is abit dull
• Movement is kinda sluggish
• Some tedious sections
• Some enemies feel like annoyances

Verdict: Soma will not be for everyone as it is a pretty slow-burn game with puzzle sections that many may find boring. Apart from some rough edges, the highly thought provoking story and ideas made this game something more interesting than just a usual walking simulator (which it does feel at times). A decent game to get if you're interested in an intriguing sci-fi story but don't mind some bland gameplay.

Mass Effect 3 (2012)

Cons:

• Mapping roll with cover is clunky
• Messy objective list
• Some may be problematic with endings

Verdict: The third and final instalment was a fitting conclusion to the Mass Effect trilogy packed with emotion, high-stakes, action, and drama. Many have found the endings disappointing, however, I was mostly satisfied with it (I played the DLC EC btw). In some instances, ME3 did feel like ME2.5, as something that would have elevated this game could have been proper open-world areas to explore to feel more lively. But I was satisfied either way.

IMO ME2 is the best as it had the largest improvements overall. But ME3 is still great and a fitting end.

Verdict: In comparison to the original Mass Effect, the sequel is an improvement in almost every single way from the story, characters, and gameplay. Mass Effect 2 is indeed one of the best sci-fi epics of all time.

• Planetary maps are confusing
• Bad AI

Verdict: The first Mass Effect certainly isn't perfect, but it lays a solid foundation of story and characters to create an intriguing sci-fi world.

Doom (2016)

• Chaotic and lightning fast gameplay
• Good level design
• Amazing music
• Good range of weapons and upgrades
• Good variety of enemy types
• SnapMap is a great side mode

Cons:

• Story is forgettable (but who cares...)
• Can get abit repetitive

Verdict: Doom excels as one entity, a demon murdering FPS shooter with super fast in your face gameplay.

• Interesting collectables and lore
• Interesting side quests

• Anti-climatic ending
• Some bland characters
• A few more enemy types would be nice
• Environments look kinda similar

Verdict: Control is pretty underrated. It has an interesting story, great gameplay, and interesting lore and world building. Despite some problems, including a bit of a lacklustre finale, Control is still worth a play

Verdict: Overall, a solid sequel that improves in many elements, but imo the story is not as compelling as Lara's origin story within the first game.

Verdict: A solid alternative to the Uncharted games, Tomb Raider is a good adventure game that sets a great origin story for Lara Croft.

Verdict: This may look like a run of the mill Call of Duty-esk sci-fi shooter, but it is so much better than that. Underrated gem imo.

The Last of Us: Part II (2020)

The Most Divisive Game Ever?

Pros:

• Multi-layered story & characters
• Great gameplay
• Great cinematics and cutscenes
• Amazing graphics
• Improved environmental exploration
• A-grade voice acting and animation
• Diverse level design
• Appreciate the risk and boldness of the narrative

Cons:

• Ending felt empty and pointless (intentional or unintentional)
• Character progression is problematic during the middle of the game
• Some questionable & odd decisions to game and narrative
• Issues with pace and cohesion with narrative

Verdict: LOU2 is extremely divisive, as I can understand how one may hate or love the game. I appreciate how the game takes risks and attempts to do things differently. IMO it has many flaws and is nowhere near perfect, but I did like the game for all it was trying to be.

Verdict: Minecraft relies on the power of creativity of the player. Just like the PC version, Minecraft on PS4 is a great game to own.

Verdict: God of War 4 is a much more mature and intimate story as compared to the previous games. Almost everything about it is excellent and is a must own for PS4.

The Outer Worlds (2019)

The Outer Worlds Review

• Bright and colourful graphics
• Interesting companions
• Barely any bugs and glitches (very pleasing)

Cons:

• World doesn't feel as organic or deep as compared to Fallout
• Some parts feel abit bland and forgettable
• Game can get abit repetitive
• Limited character creation

Verdict: Outer Worlds focuses more on RPG elements instead of the exploration (basically the opposite of Fallout 4). I enjoyed the RPG elements, however some rough spots kinda brought the game down. I enjoyed the game overall thou.
