Carol - Anne Archer - is a beautiful 30 something in Frisco. Friends set her up on a blind date with a lawyer, Michael. What she doesn't know is this man was an attorney to a Mob, recently breaking free. Not so fast Michael. As the dinner date plays out, the couple makes a stop at Michael's hotel room. As Carol stays in one room, the Mob comes out of another and shoots Mike dead, before her peeping eyes. They don't know she's there. When the 2 crooks leave, Carol flees to a friend's cabin in the Canadian wilderness. Alas, both the cops and the Mob learn of a witness. Detective Glenn - Gene Hackman - arrives first. But hell breaks loose and the Cop and Carol hop a train. Now, it's cat n mouse on a thundering rushing metal machine. Can Carol be protected? This exciting film has two fine actors in Hackman and Archer, with a great supporting cast, also. Scenery and the hair raising plot are assets, too. If you want to watch an exciting movie, here it is !
Kerry McGrath - Meredith Baxter - has been a tough prosecuting attorney in NJ for 12 years. Divorced, she has one daughter named Robin, the light of her world. When Robin's face accidentally gets hit by flying glass, a well known plastic surgeon Dr Smith treats it well. There will be no scars. While at Dr Smiths waiting room, Kerry sees a beautiful woman exit but the name means nothing. Why is the face familiar? Turns out this face was that of Dr Smiths daughter Suzanne, who was murdered years ago. The Doctor has replicated it in her memory. Odd this is. All too soon, Kerry begins studying this long ago murder. The husband Skip was convicted and is in prison. But, Kerry and a fellow lawyer Geoff believes he is innocent. Kerry is warned by her mentor Jonathan, her boss the DA, her ex husband and others to stop investigating. She won't. What perils lie ahead? This adaptation of a wonderful Mary Higgins Clark book is dandy. Baxter is great and the story compelling. Find it, Sweetie.
John - Dustin Hoffman - meets Mary - Mia Farrow - in a trendy Manhattan bar. They've been brought there by others. Nevertheless, they ditch their pals and end up sleeping together in John's loft apartment. It's supposed to be a one night stand with no names exchanged. Secretly, they enjoyed the encounter. John makes Mary breakfast, farm fresh eggs. Interspersed with their first night and day are flashbacks to previous relationships. Will this new match stay casual? This film, made when casual sex was just taking off, is a sweet film about love arriving when one doesn't expect it to. Hoffman and Farrow are very fine as the modern love partners and the scenes around New York City are great, too. All fans of the Sixties will be happy to view this one.
