Preparing to launch its biggest and broadest sales slate ever at Cannes, driven by 13 festival titles, The Match Factory has dropped a first trailer to Tatiana Huezo’s “Prayers for the Stolen,” lead-produced by the award-winning producer of “Roma” Nicolás Celis.
Playing at Cannes in Un Certain Regard, the new feature – glimpsed via a couple of excerpts at Los Cabos Festival in 2019 – marks the much anticipated fiction film debut of Huezo, who has risen to prominence as one of Latin America’s most respected documentary filmmakers on the back on just two doc-features, 2011’s “The Tiniest Place” and 2016’s “Tempestad,” which was selected for Berlin Forum.
“The Tiniest Place” was hailed by Variety as one of the most impressive debuts by a Mexican filmmaker since Carlos Reygadas’ “Japón” in 2002.
Lead produced by Celis’ Pimienta Films, “Prayers for the Stolen” is backed by a pedigree partnership of co-producers, taking in Match Factory Productions itself,...

New Delhi, March 24 (Ians) India captain Virat Kohli rose to the fourth spot in the Icc T20I rankings for batsmen on Wednesday. Kohli scored an unbeaten 80 off 52 balls in the fifth T20I against England while opening the innings with Rohit Sharma, who moved up to the 14th position.
Kohli overtook K.L. Rahul in the rankings, who took the Indian captain's previous fifth position.
Rohit's 34-ball 64 in that match has helped him move up three places to 14th in the latest weekly rankings update, which took into account the three-match Afghanistan-Zimbabwe series in Abu Dhabi apart from the last two matches of the India-England series.
In other gains, Shreyas Iyer has moved up five places to a career-best 26th position while Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant too have made rapid progress.

Chennai, Feb 8 (Ians) As India need 381 more runs, with nine wickets in hand, to win on the fifth and final day of the first Test against England here, it won't be surprising if the Indian camp would dig out the video of India's famous six-wicket win against the same opponents in 2008, made memorable by Virender Sehwag's swashbuckling 68-ball 83 that set up play on the fifth and final day.
Chasing a target of 420, India on Monday lost Rohit Sharma (12) at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium here. Shubman Gill (15) and Cheteshwar Pujara (12) are at the crease.
In 2008, the Kevin Pietersen-led England had set India a target of 387 in the fourth innings. Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir gave the team a rousing start with their 117-run opening-wicket stand. Gambhir (66 off 139 balls) took a backseat and let his senior partner take the opponents by the scruff of their neck.
Having endured a poor 2007, Sehwag looked hungry for runs.

“Notturno,” the documentary from Gianfranco Rosi and Italy’s Oscar submission to the Best International Film race, has landed a North American release from Super Ltd, the boutique division and incubator from Neon.
“Notturno” was shot over three years in the Middle East and observes how people there have been affected by war and by Isis. It premiered at Venice earlier this fall and also played Toronto, New York and was selected for Telluride. It won three awards at Venice including the Cinema for Unicef award and has already been nominated for a Critics’ Choice Documentary Award.
No release date has been set.
Rosi’s “Notturno” was filmed along the rattled borders of Iraq, Kurdistan, Syria, and Lebanon. The impressionistic film captures people who have long been contending with the ravages of war and terror, most recently inflicted by Isis.
Super Ltd previously distributed “Honeyland,” which last year became the...

As good a basketball player as Charles Barkley was during his long NBA career, he never won a championship. Thus, today’s victory in the televised golf showdown known as The Match was extra sweet.
Barkley and pro golfer Phil Mickelson were easy winners over opponents Stephen Curry of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and retired Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning in the third iteration of The Match on Friday in Arizona.
Entering the showdown, Barkley was considered a longshot to come out on top. His basketball talents notwithstanding, he is widely known as a poor golfer, something frequently joked about on the TNT show. But Mickelson and Barkley easily won the modified alternate shot match play exhibition 4&3 at Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, Arizona.
All of the participants wore a microphone. After taking a 4-up lead through seven holes, Barkley sent a message, telling the audience...

Golf’s next big TV event will only feature one professional golfer on the green.
On the day after Thanksgiving, WarnerMedia’s TNT will feature the latest iteration of “The Match,” a celebrity-golf showdown that pits big-name athletes and sports figures against each other in a telecast that nods to charity and owes as much to spectacle as it does to competition. Phil Mickelson, a regular of the series, will team up with Charles Barkley to take on Stephen Curry and Peyton Manning — all in a broadcast that weaves advertisers deeply into the proceedings.
“What we are thinking of is a pop culture event that makes golf much more fast paced and is looking to younger viewers,” says Will Funk, executive vice president of sports partnerships and branded content at Turner Sports, the WarnerMedia sports division, in an interview. “This is a world-class golf competition meets ‘Dancing With The Stars.

Phil Mickelson won’t have to face Tiger Woods for the third edition of “The Match,” but he’ll also be stuck with a far worse golfing partner.
Mickelson will partner with Charles Barkley for this year’s edition of the now-annual charity matchup, which takes place over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Peyton Manning, who won last year’s contest when he partnered with Woods, will return this time but have NBA star Stephen Curry as his teammate.
Unlike last year, TNT will be the sole Turner network to air the match on Friday, Nov. 27. It will start at 3 p.m. Et from the Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, Arizona.
“While we may need a handicap for Chuck, I’m looking forward to playing with Peyton and Stephen and to help raise money for another important cause,” Mickelson said. “It’s also going to give fans and viewers...

It’s the first day of September and you know what that means? Yes, Netflix has dropped its usual gigantic haul of new titles to kick off the month with. This time around, the streaming service has added over 30 movies and TV shows to its library. And amongst them are a huge number of bonafide classics from all different kinds of genres.
Most notably, the entire Back to the Future trilogy has returned on Netflix, allowing fans to rewatch all three parts of the beloved sci-fi franchise. Alternatively, if you’re in the mood for a musical, Grease is also up on the site from today. But wait, maybe you have a hankering for horror instead. If so, then why not stick on classic 90s flick Anaconda, starring Jennifer Lopez?
Check out the full list of everything that arrived on Netflix on September 1st below:

Looks like we spoke (published) too soon. On Sunday, this TV editor and golf fan rushed to his computer to share Dustin Johnson’s remarkable putt at the BMW Championship’s 18th hole, forcing a sudden-death playoff with Jon Rahm. But then Rahm Immediately upstaged D.J.
Johnson had virtually no chance to force a playoff with the tournament’s leader Rahm, especially after D.J.’s tee shot at 18 found the rough.
But then, a miracle happened on NBC. And then another.

September is nearly upon us, which means that Netflix will be adding a whole host of new movies and TV shows to their content library on the first day of the month, as they continue to assert their dominance over the competition in the streaming wars. If anything, the company could do with the focus shifting to pre-existing titles after finding themselves in the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently.
As well as the huge backlash that greeted the controversial first poster for French coming-of-age drama Cuties, Netflix drew criticism after canceling popular shows I Am Not Okay With This and The Society despite previously announcing that both had been renewed for second seasons, while Altered Carbon was also axed in what looks to be just the latest in a long line of cost-cutting measures.
