On Saturday, the 25-year-old actress won the award for best lead performance, film, at the Independent Spirit Awards. While addressing the crowd, she thanked the entire cast and the director, Sean Baker.

“I want to thank Sean Baker. All of this started with you. You are an incredible director, a wonderful friend, incredible chihuahua owner,” she said “I’m so grateful that you came into my life.”

Today, Prime Video released the first photos from The Bondsman, the new series from Blumhouse Television starring Kevin Bacon.

All eight episodes will be available on April 3, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Amazon MGM Studios is taking over the James Bond movie franchise. Longtime producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will step aside while remaining co-owners of the franchise.

“Amazon MGM Studios, Michael G. Wilson, and Barbara Broccoli today announced that they have formed a new joint venture to house the James Bond intellectual property rights, and those parties will remain co-owners of the franchise,” the studio stated in a press release. “Under the terms of the new venture, Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise following closing of the transaction.”

Most bounty hunters stop chasing criminals when they die, but “The Bondsman” is built different.

Vanity Fair unveiled the first look at Kevin Bacon and more from Prime Video’s action-horror-thriller series, premiering April 3.

Bacon stars as Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who gets a second chance at life by agreeing to track down demons who’ve escaped from Hell.

“It is very violent and has a lot of blood and scares, but it also has some tongue-in-cheek aspects,” Bacon told Vanity Fair. “It’s oftentimes funny, and it also has a lot of heart.”

Jennifer Nettles (“The Righteous Gemstones”), Beth Grant (Donnie Darko), Jolene Purdy (“Under the Dome”), Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), and Maxwell Jenkins (“Lost in Space”) also star.

Bacon and Nettles, each accomplished musicians in their own right, wrote several songs for the show.

The series was created by Grainger David, with Erik Oleson serving as showrunner.

The Hulu March 2025 premiere schedule has been announced and can be viewed below. The streaming service has also revealed the titles that will leave next month.

The 97th Oscars will stream live on Hulu and the award-winning film Anora, directed by Sean Baker and starring Mikey Madison, will begin streaming on the service.

Based on Peter Heller’s 2012 novel, “The Dog Stars” was adapted for the screen by Mark L. Smith (“Twisters”). Set in a post-apocalyptic society after a catastrophic flu virus wipes out nearly all of humanity, the story follows a pilot named Hig (Elordi) who befriends a cranky gunman (Brolin) as they try to outlast a roaming band of scavengers. The Boys and Star Trek actor doesn't appear to be in his classic video game costume as the beloved Mk character, but that's likely because this is a movie-within-a-movie poster for one of Cage's action flicks, "Uncaged Fury."

Emile Hirsch is set to star in supernatural thriller The Condemnation from writer-director Catherine Pirotta. Luminosity Pictures is launching sales on the title, which will begin production in April, at the upcoming European Film Market.

The story follows an aspiring journalist (Hirsch) who’s given an investigative assignment by a prestigious newspaper to travel to Peru and write a story about Casa Matusita, one of the world’s most famous haunted houses.

Notorious for ghost sightings, murders, suicides and an infamous massacre, the house becomes a temporary home for the journalist and his wife. But as the couple settle in, strange and terrifying events unfold which lead them to seek the help of a local priest who has a dark history with the house.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, and while the video game adaptation wrapped production back in January of 2024 after a bumpy ride through the year of the strikes, they had to go back for some reshoots last summer. So we still don’t know when this movie is going to be released – but it is starting to take some steps forward. Back in November, we learned that Mortal Kombat 2 has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore, and language. Now, a logo for the film has been unveiled, along with a poster featuring the character of actor Johnny Cage, played by Karl Urban. You can check those images out at the bottom of this article.

The screenplay for Mortal Kombat 2 has been written by Jeremy Slater, who was the lead writer on the Marvel / Disney+ series Moon Knight.

Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood gave fans plenty to discuss, but one scene nearly derailed the conversation. The flashback fight between Brad Pitt’s stuntman Cliff Booth and Bruce Lee, played by Mike Moh, stirred major controversy. According to HuffPost, an early version of the scene would have humiliated Lee even further, showing him losing the fight outright.

The film became Tarantino’s biggest opening weekend hit and took liberties with Hollywood history. But while real-life figures like Sharon Tate and Steve McQueen got respectful portrayals, Lee – one of the most influential martial artists ever – was turned into a “bloviating a**,” as some critics put it. As the rumor mill continues to swirl for Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men reboot, the latest update comes to us from a more reliable source than an anonymous scooper as journalist Jeff Sneider (via The InSneider newsletter) is now reporting that Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood; The Gray Man; The Fabelmans) is being eyed for the role of Kitty Pryde in X-Men. 

He also doubles down on his previous report that Sadie Sink (Stranger Things; The Whale; The Glass Castle) is the current frontrunner to land the role of Jean Grey, and adds that Harris Dickinson (Babygirl; The Iron Claw; The King's Man) is being looked to play the team's leader Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops. 

At the time of this posting, Butters is 15, Sink is 22, and Dickinson is 28, so Marvel definitely wants younger talent to take on these storied roles and likely play them for the next decade plus.

Timothy Olyphant is the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series “Lucky.”

Variety has learned that Olyphant has joined the series alongside previously announced lead Anya Taylor-Joy as well as recently announced cast member Annette Bening.

“Lucky” is based on the novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley. The book was a New York Times bestseller and a selection for Reese Witherspoon’s Reese’s Book Club. Per the official description, Taylor-Joy stars as “a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”

Olyphant will play John, Lucky’s father.

This marks the second Apple series in which Olyphant will appear. Variety exclusively reported that he will star in an upcoming golf comedy series at the streamer alongside Owen Wilson.

Now that Quentin Tarantino is no longer making "The Movie Critic," plans for his final movie are up in there. The "Pulp Fiction" and "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood" director has vowed to retire from filmmaking after helming 10 features, and it seems that he's in a funk because he wants his farewell flick to be perfect. What's more, he's even pondered bowing out with his current oeuvre, believing that "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is a worthy swansong, especially in the current climate.

During an appearance at the Sundance Film Festival's "Elvis Mitchell Suite" (via Entertainment Weekly), Tarantino clamped down on his reluctance to rush into his final film. He revealed that he's working on a play and feeling disillusioned with the cinematic landscape, which is why filmmaking isn't at the top of his to-do list. In his own words:

She has more interesting collaborations ahead, as she has worked with Richard Linklater on the Lorenz Hart biopic Blue Moon (where she stars alongside Ethan Hawke), re-teamed with Ethan Cohen for Honey Don’t!, where she co-stars with Chris Evans, Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, and Talia Ryder (Qualley plays a private investigator looking into a cult led by Evans), and will be working with Sanctuary director Zachary Wigon again on the psychological horror thriller Victorian Psycho. The Wigon film will be heading into production soon, and during an interview with IndieWire, Qualley confirmed that she’s working on her British accent.

Margaret Qualley is teasing just how “incredibly surreal” it was to star in a Richard Linklater film.

Qualley, who appears in Linklater’s upcoming Lorenz Hart biopic “Blue Moon,” told IndieWire that she has been trying to work with the auteur for more than a decade.

“I have been a longtime fan of Richard Linklater,” Qualley said. “I think I auditioned for him the first time 10 years ago.”

While Qualley only revealed that the film she auditioned for was in fact made, she did not say its title… although Linklater’s ’70s college-centric “Everybody Loves Some!!” was released in 2016.

Qualley’s admiration for Linklater was cemented with his 2014 feature “Boyhood,” which felt especially personal to Qualley as she was the same age as its lead character. In an interview on This Morning, Norton admitted there's still one person left after all these years who hasn't been on the show. Brad Pitt appears to be Norton's white whale.

Asked who he'd still like to get on the show, Norton replied "We've still never had Brad Pitt. Never had him. He's about the last of those kind of old-school kind of Hollywood stars we haven't had."

Norton is (mostly) correct in his assessment.

“Dexter: Resurrection” is bringing three franchise veterans into the fold.

David Zayas, James Remar, and Jack Alcott have all been cast in series regular roles in the upcoming Paramount+ with Showtime drama. They will now appear alongside Michael C. Hall, who will reprise the role of Dexter Morgan.

Zayas will once again play Det. Angel Batista, while Remar will play Harry Morgan, the roles they played in the original “Dexter.” Alcott will play Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s son, who first appeared in the sequel series “Dexter: New Blood” in 2021.

Production on “Dexter: Resurrection” is set to begin in January with a planned debut in the summer. No specific plot details are available for “Resurrection,” but the series will serve as a direct followup to “New Blood.”

In addition to his role in “Dexter,” Remar is known for his work in shows like “Sex and the City” and “City on a Hill.

Just before Halloween back in 2022, it was announced that Willa Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner – who both have experience working in the Scream franchise, as Fitzgerald was in the Scream TV series and Gallner appeared in the 2022 Scream movie – were set to star in the “cat and mouse thriller” Strange Darling. The movie was given a theatrical release back in August, and JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols loved it; you can read his 9/10 review at This Link. It has since moved on to digital and physical media releases… but distributor Magenta Light Productions feels that it should have performed better at the box office, and believe it would have if the film had a better marketing campaign. Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux was not a popular movie (32% on Rotten Tomatoes and just $206 million at the global box office), but several notable names have come out in defence of the sequel, including Quentin Tarantino.
