10. Bedeviled (2016)

An idea of mixing together good old supernatural entities and modern mobile apps sounded good on paper — but the execution turned out disastrous. Bedeviled relied on its somewhat amusing premise too much to care about not incorporating every teen horror cliche you could think of, so no wonder only 20% of viewers liked it.

9. Cold Blood (2019)

A reclusive hitman finds an injured woman near his isolated house in the woods and risks everything to save her. Despite having Jean Reno as its lead actor, Cold Blood fails to create compelling characters or story and as a mystery thriller, it provides neither mystery nor thrills. Only 18% of viewers found this movie worthy of a positive review.

They Live in the Grey opens on an ominous note as Claire, depressed by the death of her young son and the subsequent death of her marriage, attempts to hang herself. She’s also begun seeing ghosts, frequently violent and angry ones which results in her sleeping in a closet for safety.

As if this isn’t troubling enough she works for Child Protective Services dealing with cases of abuse. She’s been assigned to the case of Sophie whose parents are suspected of beating her. On her first meeting with the family she sees signs of a supernatural presence in the house. She feels the ghost may be to blame for the girl’s bruises but she can’t exactly tell her boss, who is already pressuring her to close the case,...

While investigating a child abuse case, a young social worker discovers that the family is being tormented by a supernatural entity. Filmmaking brothers Abel and Burlee Vang hope to reinvent boogeyman-centric thrillers in Bedeviled, in which an artificially intelligent phone app outgrows its users' devices and comes to menace them in the flesh. Heavily influenced by A Nightmare on Elm Street by way of the Ring series, the picture contains some of the makings of a successful fright flick and is acted by a competent ensemble. But its central conceit is so nonsensical that even devoted horror buffs may balk, making it a tough sell in theatrical bookings. Any homevid shelf life will probably also be short.

Voltage Pictures is at the Efm talking up Bedeviled, a new supernatural thriller from The Vang Brothers.

President of international sales John Fremes and his team will present footage to Berlin buyers of the story about a seemingly harmless Siri-like app that manipulates the deepest fears of users to literally scare them to death.

Saxon Sharbino of the Poltergeist remake stars alongside Brandon Soo Hoo, Mitchell Edwards, Jordan Essoe, Carson Boatman, Victory Van Tuyl, and Alexis G. Zall.

Kirk Roos, Cheng Yang and Leng Yang produce the film and Stephen Stanley, Brad Brizendine and Scott P. Barlow are the executive producers.
