Oscar nominee Guy Pearce from The Brutalist, Maria Pedraza from Money Heist, and Farming actor-director Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje have joined Alex Pettyfer on the erotic thriller Blurred, which Cloud9 Studios is introducing to EFM buyers next week.

Ben Cookson wrote and will direct, with Pettyfer and James Ireland producing through their Dark Dreams Entertainment alongside Yariv Lerner for Film Forage.

Comcast-owned Sky has taken the checkered flag and will exclusively show the feature documentary Hill about Formula 1 star Damon Hill in the U.K. and Ireland under a deal with U.K. film distribution, production and sales outfit Signature Entertainment.

Signature said that it was partnering with Sky for the movie from Independent Entertainment to premiere in the two territories as a Sky Exclusive later this year.

Jerry Seinfeld’s highly touted (and largely panned) feature directorial debut, “Unfrosted,” spent four days leading Netflix’s top 10 movie chart before another Netflix original, “Mother of the Bride” starring Brooke Shields, took the slot before the thematically appropriate weekend holiday.

“Unfrosted” led for just four days, with “Shrek” from 2001 leading midweek before the debut of “Bride.” The Dreamworks animated classic is still in second place, while Seinfeld’s Pop-Tarts comedy dropped to fourth.

Amy Madigan and Lily Harris are also set for the film.

“The Ploughmen” will mark Harris’ third feature as director after his Western “Appaloosa” and multi-Oscar nominated “Pollock.” Described being in the vein of “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River,” the film is set in the wilderness of Montana, where a strange friendship develops between a haunted young deputy sheriff and a notorious old murderer. John Gload (Nolte) is a killer so adept at his job that only now has he been apprehended.

Theaters are in a slump longer than they should be. The last five weekends averaged about $70 million total, while in 2019, the same five weekends with lower ticket prices averaged $190 million. That means success in VOD revenue is all that more important for studios. If you don’t know her name, you almost certainly know her face. Ever since 2008’s Quantum Of Solace, in which she managed to stand out alongside James Bond, Ukrainian-born Olga Kurylenko has been making a big impression. A former model, she has an instinctive approach to acting which has served her well in the likes of To The Wonder, The Water Diviner, Mara, The Translators and The Bay Of Silence. She’s also made a name for herself as an action performer – “A lot of people somehow call me back to do action. I wonder why,” she says, laughing – and now she’s hitting screens in her latest thriller, Chief Of Station, alongside Aaron Eckhart.

“I get lots of action propositions and I do say no to a lot, but certain things I do say yes, and for very different reasons,” she says.

The success of The Bricklayer marks Aaron Eckhart's successful transformation into an action star. Eckhart's ability as an actor adds some class to lower-budget action fare like The Bricklayer and Muzzle. Upcoming films like Chief of Station and Classified will continue Eckhart's action streak, solidifying his position in the genre.

The Bricklayer has completed Aaron Eckhart's gradual transformation into an action star - and it's a beautiful thing to behold. Eckhart first came to attention for his work in director Neil Labute's dark comedies like In the Company of Men, but it was his incredible supporting turn in Erin Brockovich that marked his breakout role. He's rarely been offscreen since, with easily his best-known role being the tragic Harvey Dent/Two-Face in 2008's The Dark Knight.

Aussie filmmaker Greg McLean, best known for Jungle starring Daniel Radcliffe as well as the Wolf Creek series, is set to direct from a script penned by Gus Krieger.

The film’s synopsis reads: Desperate to find her missing sister, a young woman and her three best friends find themselves trapped inside a virtual-reality game where every level forces its players to survive a different genre of a horror movie. Concourse will come aboard as sales partner for a five-picture slate, which is fully financed with production already completed on two films and three more slated for this year. Concourse is also helping develop and produce.

The Bee Holder Productions and Concourse Media film is being lined up for a May 2024 domestic release.

The Wonder Yard follows Dinah (Weaver), who becomes a widow after 50 years of marriage. Following her husband’s death, Dinah throws her energy into building an eclectic wonderland in her front yard. Her adult children wonder if their mom has lost it, but through her wonder yard, Dinah discovers it’s never too late to chase a dream as she finds her voice, herself, and love at the seasoned age of 73.

Shalhoub will portray Yusuf, a Middle-Eastern man who finds a second lease on life when he becomes invested in Dinah’s journey.

In the upcoming musical romantic comedy “That’s Amore!,” audiences will have their chance to see John Travolta doing what so many of his fans love to see him doing — singing and dancing with a smile on his face.

The star’s enduring popularity certainly isn’t lost on writer-director Nick Vallelonga, who won two Oscars for writing and producing the 2018 hit “Green Book,” and is thrilled to be finally getting the film off the ground. “I’m constantly writing and developing scripts, and I’ve always had Travolta in mind for the role. Ashland Hill Media Finance has launched a global sales company headed by industry veteran Tamara Birkemoe.

Palisades Park Pictures is launching ahead of next month’s Cannes Film Festival, with operations in Los Angeles and London. The venture, which will soon unveil its inaugural slate of projects, comes a year after the launch of Ashland Hill, which was set up last May by Joe Simpson, Simon Williams and Jonathan Bross.

Ashland Hill will continue its operations financing films, while Ppp will board sales on a handful of Ashland Hill Media Finance titles in addition to a slate of third-party titles.

Birkemoe will serve as CEO, and will work out of Los Angeles and London. The company’s executive committee will include Simpson, Williams and Bross as well as industry stalwart Mark Damon.

The Dark Knight and Thank You for Smoking actor Aaron Eckhart is preparing to take to the skies for Midair, an action thriller from Concourse and Bee Holder. Magnus Martens directs from a script by George Mahaffey, with production scheduled for liftoff in July.

According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Midair focuses on a cargo pilot who’s flown rogue missions for the CIA. While in the air, the pilot is stalked midair (get it) by a terrorist forcing him to navigate a series of life-threatening obstacles. To outsmart the terrorist and keep everyone alive, he must outmaneuver the threat and discover the truth about the attack.

We’ve been hearing for a few years now that Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill director Christophe Gans has been working with producer Victor Hadida to develop a new Silent Hill movie that would be “totally independent from the two previous movies”. Gans directed the 2006 version of Silent Hill from a screenplay he wrote with Roger Avary and Nicolas Boukhrief, and will be directing this new film – which is titled Return to Silent Hill – from a screenplay he has written with Sandra Vo-Anh and Will Schneider… and now Deadline has reported that the project has secured funding! Filming is expected to begin soon.

The movie from scribe George Mahaffey is set across Europe and will begin shooting later this year in Budapest.

In Chief of Station, a former CIA Station Chief (played by Baldwin), after learning that the death of his wife was not an accident, is forced back into the espionage underworld, teaming up with adversaries and a rogue agent (played by Kurylenko) to unravel a conspiracy that challenges everything he thought he knew.

Johnson previously directed such action movies as White Elephant starring Bruce Willis and Michael Rooker, Avengement starring Scott Adkins, and Triple Threat starring Tony Jaa. Prior to becoming a filmmaker, he worked as a stunt coordinator and stuntman on large-scale studio films including Mission Impossible 3, Planet of the Apes, Total Recall, Terminator 3 and Starship Troopers.
