Shondaland is giving us another White House scandal this spring. The Residence, a “screwball whodunit” set in the halls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, will drop its eight-episode first season on Thursday, March 20. And now, we have a full-length trailer, which you can watch above.

Inspired by Kate Andersen Brower’s book of the same name, The Residence stars Uzo Aduba as Cordelia Cupp, “the most sought-after detective in the world.” According to her official description, she’s “wry, funny, relentless, supremely confident, an astute observer of human behavior… and a legendary birder.”

Bellamy Young is launching a new podcast series.

The “Scandal” star has teamed up with humanitarian organization Care for the six-episode “She Leads With Care,” premiering March 11 to coincide with International Women’s Day.

The series features Young in conversation with women leaders from Honduras, Jordan, Nepal, Tanzania, Ukraine and Vietnam.

Young has been working with Care since 2018. “I have always been very moved by their impact and seeing firsthand what a difference just reaching out with a little support, not just financial, but interest and apparatus, structure, programs, how it can create lasting, transformational change,” Young tells me.

La Dolce Villa is the latest in a long line of low to mid-budget romantic comedies sold to Netflix by no-name studios that have become a shockingly massive part of the streamer’s overall output. But this does happen to be a case where the romantic film in question arrives just in time for the holiday of romance: Valentine’s Day.

Details regarding his character and the film’s plot are currently under wraps. However, Foley is already part of the Scream universe having portrayed antagonist Roman Bridger, the film director and half-brother of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who was revealed to be the Ghostface Killer of Scream 3.

Foley’s casting comes with its own set of questions because Roman was killed by Dewey (David Arquette) at Sidney’s request. Roman has faked his own death before so it’s plausible that he could reprise the role in the present or perhaps in flashback form in the past if he is deceased. Could Roman have a long-lost twin? The “screwball whodunnit” features a slew of possible suspects questioned over the dead body that was found during a state dinner. However, will they outsmart Cordelia who, in the trailer, is described as the best detective in the world?

Exclusive: MGM+ has given an eight-episode series order to American Classic, a half-hour comedy starring and executive produced by Oscar winner Kevin Kline. Jon Tenney co-stars in the series from co-creators Michael Hoffman and Bob Martin.

This marks only the second half-hour comedy series in MGM+’s history after 2016’s Graves, starring Nick Nolte, which ran for two seasons. (The linear channel and streaming service’s other half-hour original was the 2021 dramedy Bridge and Tunnel.)

American Classic had been in the works at MGM+ for more than three years; it was announced as part of the development slate of the platform (then named Epix) on February 3, 2022. Fifth Season has since come on board as studio, with Mar-Key Pictures, Likely Story and Anonymous Content producing.

Gersh has signed actor Raymond Lee for representation, Variety has learned exclusively. Lee continues to be repped by Stephanie Nese Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Lee previously starred in the NBC reboot of “Quantum Leap.” In the show, he played Dr. Ben Song, who steps into the Quantum Leap accelerator and awakes to find himself trapped in the past and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. The series aired for two seasons and 31 episodes, originally debuting in 2022.

Lee has also starred in shows like the critically-acclaimed AMC series “Kevin Can F*** Himself,” appearing in the series regular role of Sam, as well as the Alan Ball HBO series “Here and Now.” His other TV credits include “Made for Love,” “Prodigal Son,” “Mozart in the Jungle,” and “Scandal.”

Scott Foley (“Scandal”) has traded Washington, D.C. for Italy.

Foley leads Netflix rom-com “La Dolce Villa” as Eric, a successful businessman who travels to Italy to stop his daydreaming daughter from restoring a crumbling villa. Per the logline, “Italy, however, has different plans for him as it delivers on its legendary promise of beauty, magic, and romance.”

Violante Placido and Giuseppe Futia also star.

Mark Waters directs. Robyn Snyder and Deborah Evans produce the film, with writers Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy executive producing. Hackett and Galanoy previously penned “A Perfect Pairing” and “Falling Inn Love.”

The feature filmed in Rome, eastern Lazio, and Tuscany, with the interiors of the villa built at Cinecittá Studios in Rome. The exteriors were shot in eastern Lazio at Torrino del Gelsi.

Actor Faran Tahir is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney+ series ‘Vision Quest,’ a spinoff from WandaVision. Tahir will reprise his role as Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organization, a character he first played in 2008’s Iron Man. This marks Tahir’s first MCU appearance in nearly two decades, making his return a noteworthy moment for fans of the franchise.

Raza’s story was last seen in Iron Man, where he orchestrated Tony Stark’s kidnapping to force the creation of a Jericho missile. Although the character appeared to meet his end in the film, the MCU has shown time and again that death isn’t always permanent.

The series will follow Vision, played by Paul Bettany, as he attempts to regain his memories and redefine his purpose after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and WandaVision.

Exclusive: Faran Tahir will appear in the Paul Bettany-led series Vision Quest, a WandaVision spinoff series for Disney+, sources confirm to Deadline.

Tahir will reprise the role of the villainous Raza, leader of the terrorist organization the 10 Rings who tried to kill Tony Stark in Iron Man.

Details are scarce on the new project, but as we previously reported, the Marvel Vision spinoff has been in development at Disney+ since 2022 and was picked up to series in May. It is believed to be centered on Vision (Bettany) as he tries to regain his memory and humanity. After Thanos killed him in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, Vision returned in 2021’s WandaVision.

In addition to Bettany returning to the role he has played in three Marvel films and in WandaVision, James Spader will reprise his MCU role of Ultron. Todd Stashwick will also appear in an undisclosed role.

It’s hard to get a read on a show from a 60-second trailer, but the hook is compelling, and the cast is an embarrassment of riches, meaning we should be in for one of the more buzzy shows of the 2024-25 TV season.

According to NBC, the new one-hour drama “follows four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief, and a shared secret — a murder no one wants to talk about.”

In the series, a group of suburbanites reveal the first rule of their local gardening club: Everyone must have each others’ backs. Shouldn’t be too hard, in theory, except that Grosse Pointe Garden Society looks like it’s dealing with homicide, arson and more seedy misbehavior. (Oh my!)
