Shondaland is giving us another White House scandal this spring. The Residence, a “screwball whodunit” set in the halls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, will drop its eight-episode first season on Thursday, March 20. And now, we have a full-length trailer, which you can watch above.
Inspired by Kate Andersen Brower’s book of the same name, The Residence stars Uzo Aduba as Cordelia Cupp, “the most sought-after detective in the world.” According to her official description, she’s “wry, funny, relentless, supremely confident, an astute observer of human behavior… and a legendary birder.”

A White House-set whodunnit from Shonda Rhimes? We’re seated.
The latest Netflix series from mega-producer Rhimes is a mix of “Only Murders in the Building” meets “Knives Out,” with Rhimes and executive producing partner Betsy Beers reuniting with “Scandal” alum Paul William Davies to go back to D.C.
The screwball crime comedy stars Uzo Aduba as Metropolitan Police Department consulting detective Cordelia Cupp, who is tasked with solving a murder alongside FBI Special Agent Edwin Park (Randall Park). The duo are billed as a modern-day Sherlock and Watson and ”Odd Couple” team, as Aduba’s Cupp is the most sought-after detective in the world but Park remains skeptical about her unconventional methods.
As the character description teases for Aduba’s role, Cupp is “an astute observer of human behavior, with a distinctive and – to some, unsettling – conversational style. As she dives deeper into the evening’s events and key suspects,...

This spring, Shonda Rhimes is returning to the White House thanks to Netflix’s “The Residence.” And in its first trailer, the Uzo Aduba murder mystery created by Paul William Davies is dropping its first few clues ahead of its March 20 premiere.
When White House Chief Usher A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito) is found dead, the most powerful institution in America brings in Cordelia Cupp (Aduba), a wildly eccentric detective to solve the case. She will score through 132 rooms and 157 suspects all in the hopes of discovering what actually happened … but the further she dives into this mystery, the more convoluted it becomes.
In the first trailer, it’s revealed on the night of his death, A.B. said, “I am going to be dead by the end of the night.”
“I mean, it’s just something people say,” a panicked Ken Marino says. “I’ve never said that,” Aduba’s Cordelia shoots back,...

Shonda Rhimes struck TV gold by taking viewers inside the sexy and shocking inner workings of a fictionalized White House with Scandal. Now Shondaland and former Scandal writer and producer Paul William Davies are setting their sights on the unmistakable mansion once again — this time, with a twist. Prepare for The Residencethis spring, a murder mystery revolving around the most disastrous (and deadly) state dinner in history, starring Uzo Aduba as wry detective Cordelia Cupp. The series will come calling on March 20, but you can see the shocking new trailer, above, right now.
The video sets up the high-stakes whodunit: there’s a murderer lurking in the halls of the White House, and Cordelia is the only person who can figure out their identity. As the teaser trailer makes clear, Cordelia is the best detective in the world. However, political tensions, escalating lies, and boiling resentments will complicate the...

Several "Arrested Development" actors have become quite successful after the show ended. Folks like Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, and David Cross have appeared in a great many roles to various degrees of success. Jessica Walter further established herself as a bona fide comedy legend on "Archer" before her tragic death in 2021. The person who narrated the show -- some guy called Ron Howard -- has apparently done Ok for himself too, all things considered.
Portia de Rossi, on the other hand, is an exception to the rule. Despite her obvious talent and charisma, the reliably hilarious actress who played the important "Arrested Development" main character Lindsay Bluth-Fünke isn't what you'd call a household Hollywood name these days. In fact, after the show's fifth and final season ended in 2019, she really hasn't done all that much ... when it comes to acting, at least. So, why...

Directed by Mark Waters, La Dolce Villa, the 2025 Netflix rom-com, is the story of a father who turns up in Italy in pursuit of his young daughter, who wants to buy a house. With a close-knit cast, La Dolce Villa moves like a Tuscany romance, replete with vintage villas, charming medieval streets, wine and gelato, and a grand fresco. A new addition to the array of Valentine’s Day rom-coms, La Dolce Villa is surely going to make your heats a lot more merry.

As the well-meaning but anxious father in La Dolce Villa, we get to see American actor and director Scott Foley. Foley has been a part of the slasher franchise Scream as Roman Bridger. Bellamy Young is launching a new podcast series.
The “Scandal” star has teamed up with humanitarian organization Care for the six-episode “She Leads With Care,” premiering March 11 to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The series features Young in conversation with women leaders from Honduras, Jordan, Nepal, Tanzania, Ukraine and Vietnam.
Young has been working with Care since 2018. “I have always been very moved by their impact and seeing firsthand what a difference just reaching out with a little support, not just financial, but interest and apparatus, structure, programs, how it can create lasting, transformational change,” Young tells me.
Since its founding in 1945, Care works to fight global poverty with a focus on women and girls. In 2024, Care worked in 121 countries, reaching 53 million people through 1,450 projects.
As humanitarian assistance is now being scrutinized like never before in Washington, Young said, “The podcast couldn’t be coming out at any more...

‘La Dolce Villa’ Director Mark Waters Talks ‘Killing People’s Rom-Com Careers’ and ‘Freakier Friday’

Rom-coms have been no small piece of director Mark Waters’s career. He’s the man behind films including “Just Like Heaven” and “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” he produced “500 Days of Summer,” and more.
But, even with a new rom-com out on Netflix this week, if you ask Waters himself, he wouldn’t necessarily tout himself as a king in the genre.
“I think I’m the person who’s responsible for killing people’s rom-com career,” Waters joked with TheWrap. “Because I know that Mark Ruffalo, after [‘Just Like Heaven’], I don’t think he did another rom-com. And after ‘Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,’ I think Matthew McConaughey never did another one.”
In fairness, that’s because both actors went on to star in much heavier fare, intentionally so. And Waters knows that, saying that “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” was a “bridging” role for McConaughey, as the character...

La Dolce Villa is the latest in a long line of low to mid-budget romantic comedies sold to Netflix by no-name studios that have become a shockingly massive part of the streamer’s overall output. But this does happen to be a case where the romantic film in question arrives just in time for the holiday of romance: Valentine’s Day.
This is purely a coincidence though, as the film’s plot has literally nothing to do with February 14, instead focusing on an unlikely romance in picturesque Italy. But does this story have more than beautiful scenery and the current air of romance to make it worth seeking out amidst an ocean of competition? Let’s see if we can figure that out.

Heard of those homes in the Italian countryside that only cost a euro? Sounds like a great deal, right? Scott Foley isn’t so sure.
In the new romantic comedy La Dolce Villa, now streaming, the Scandal star heads to Italy to stop his daughter from frittering away her entire bank account on restoring one of those villas. Of course, that’s only the beginning of his trip. By the end of it, he may have a few different ideas — about life, love, and even a decaying old villa.
“His initial determination — to save his daughter from making what he believes would be a huge mistake in purchasing property in Italy — turns out to be a sort of second chance at happiness for Eric, in so many ways,” Foley tells Tudum.
Directed by Mark Waters, written by Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy...

Yes, my friends, this is about the Tgit television era, which held us in a chokehold every Thursday night.
No one and nothing is doing it the way Shonda Rhimes did during the height of ABC’s Thursday night programming, which saw Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder blowing our minds during a full three-hour block.

1. Sanshiro Sugata (1943)
Akira Kurosawa‘s directorial debut is based on the homonymous novel by Tsuneo Tomita, the son of prominent judoka Tsunejiro Tomita, with the main character drawing from Shiro Saigo, one of the earliest disciples of Judo, a martial art that was originally created by Jigoro Kano. The film revolves around the challenges Sanshiro Sugata faces, both from himself and from opponents, in his effort to prove judo’s superiority over traditional jujitsu techniques. Gennosuke Higaki, the “villain” in the story, is also based on a real-life fighter, Mataemon Tanabe, who is considered one of the greatest modern jujutsuka.

Susumu Fajita’s performance is a key factor here, as he highlights Sanshiro’s struggle as he thinks about where his path has led him thus far, and how many opponents he has left shattered and disgraced along the way.

Susumu Fajita’s performance is a key factor here, as he highlights Sanshiro’s struggle as he thinks about where his path has led him thus far, and how many opponents he has left shattered and disgraced along the way.

Ben Affleck is a multi-talented star, who’s earned an Oscar for his impeccable writing, been an acclaimed director, and the Dark Knight himself. The actor seems to have a knack for building compelling narratives both in front and behind the camera.

Jake Tapper is broadening his definition of American impropriety.
The CNN anchor, who last year offered viewers a different side of his reportage with the documentary series, “United States of Scandal,’ will return for a second season starting March 9, still looking at political malfeasance but examining other areas as well.
“Last year we did a lot of D.C. politics and a lot of sex scandals,” Tapper notes during an interview. For the show’s next cycle, “we really tried to expand our aperture and look more widely at the American mosaic of sports and pop culture and business, and I think people will like it.”

Uzo Aduba stars as an eccentric investigator navigating secrets, scandals, and 157 suspects.
I love comedy murder mystery TV shows - in fact, I made a list of my favorites you can check out here. Now, Netflix is throwing another hat into the ring by bringing a screwball murder mystery with a presidential twist to its new limited series “The Residence,” premiering Thursday, March 20. From Shonda Rhimes’ production company, the show stars Uzo Aduba as Cordelia Cupp, a sharp-witted (if eccentric) detective navigating a murder investigation inside the White House. Based on Kate Andersen Brower’s book, the series pulls back the curtain on the inner workings of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, mixing scandal, secrets, and high-stakes intrigue involving 157 suspects and one dead body. With an all-star cast and a juicy whodunnit premise, this one will be a binge-worthy ride. Here’s everything you need to know about “The Residence.”

Exclusive: Scott Foley has joined the cast of Scream 7 from Spyglass and Paramount Pictures.
Details regarding his character and the film’s plot are currently under wraps. However, Foley is already part of the Scream universe having portrayed antagonist Roman Bridger, the film director and half-brother of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who was revealed to be the Ghostface Killer of Scream 3.
Foley’s casting comes with its own set of questions because Roman was killed by Dewey (David Arquette) at Sidney’s request. Roman has faked his own death before so it’s plausible that he could reprise the role in the present or perhaps in flashback form in the past if he is deceased. Could Roman have a long-lost twin? This is Scream after all, so if he returns as a ghost (face killer?) or a zombie, it would not shock most.

There has been a murder at the White House.
In the first teaser trailer for Netflix’s The Residence series released on Thursday, Uzo Aduba stars as a detective Cordelia Cupp who attempts to solve the case of the dead body that was discovered on the third floor of the White House.
“132 rooms. 157 suspects. 1 dead body,” the show warns.
The “screwball whodunnit” features a slew of possible suspects questioned over the dead body that was found during a state dinner. However, will they outsmart Cordelia who, in the trailer, is described as the best detective in the world?
“Mr. President. This house needs to be treated like a crime scene,” Aduba cautions in the trailer. Throughout the teaser, it’s clear chaos is expected to begin as hidden secrets, lingering dangers and political tensions complicate the case with the culprit possibly being a member of the staff or guest.

William Shakespeare once said, “All the world’s a stage,” but for Kevin Kline, the stage is a way of life, and his love for theater is vast. MGM+ announced today an eight-episode series order for American Classic, a half-hour comedy series from o-creators Michael Hoffman and Bob Martin (The Prom, Slings and Arrows). American Classic stars Kevin Sline as Richard Bean and Jon Tenney as Jon Bean. Hoffman directs the series, with production kicking into high gear later this year in New Jersey.
Here’s an official description of American Classic courtesy of MGM+:
“American Classic centers on Broadway star and notorious narcissist Richard Bean, played by Kline, who suffers a spectacular public meltdown and returns to his hometown and the family-run theater where he first became aware of his own brilliance. When he arrives, he is shocked to discover that his father, the former artistic director, has...

Exclusive: MGM+ has given an eight-episode series order to American Classic, a half-hour comedy starring and executive produced by Oscar winner Kevin Kline. Jon Tenney co-stars in the series from co-creators Michael Hoffman and Bob Martin.
This marks only the second half-hour comedy series in MGM+’s history after 2016’s Graves, starring Nick Nolte, which ran for two seasons. (The linear channel and streaming service’s other half-hour original was the 2021 dramedy Bridge and Tunnel.)
American Classic had been in the works at MGM+ for more than three years; it was announced as part of the development slate of the platform (then named Epix) on February 3, 2022. Fifth Season has since come on board as studio, with Mar-Key Pictures, Likely Story and Anonymous Content producing.

Kevin Costner Horizon Netflix ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Over the past few months, Kevin Costner has faced many obstacles, from his exit from Yellowstone due to an alleged feud with showrunner Taylor Sheridan to the debacle of his passion project Horizon and its financial struggles. His personal life wasn’t too afloat either.
His divorce from his second wife, Christine Baumgartner, was finalized last year. Meanwhile, the first of his film series, Horizon, may have flopped at the box office, but it received a decent viewership on Netflix. According to a new report, Kevin is thus hoping the platform will bail him out of his financial troubles.
Is Kevin Costner hoping Netflix will bail him out of financial issues regarding the Horizon Film Series?
The veteran actor spent money from his own pocket to fund the three-film series, but the return hasn’t been fruitful, with the first movie failing to recover its budget.

Will Smith reportedly still harbors deep resentment toward Chris Rock following the infamous Oscars slap.
A source revealed to In Touch that while Chris has recently faced some personal drama, including a heated exit from a holiday party in December 2024, Will is enjoying “every second of his misery while twisting the knife to no end.”
Chris Rock’s Controversial Incident at Holiday Party

If not for Tyler Perry, Hollywood might have missed out on one of its most cherished talents in Kerry Washington. At the end of the aughts, before her iconic starring turn as Olivia Pope in the blockbuster TV series Scandal, Washington felt that she’d achieved what she’d set out to do as an actor and was ready to move on. “I was doing a play on Broadway — and I loved the stage, and I loved this experience — but I was like, This is it,” the Emmy winner recalls now. “Growing up in New York, my dream [was] to be on Broadway. [I thought,] I’m here. This is the mic drop moment when I now pivot and transition to something else.”
Then the phone rang. Perry was offering Washington a key role in For Colored Girls, his adaptation of playwright-poet Ntozake Shange’s lauded choreopoem about the experiences of women...

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from the two-part Will Trent season 3 premiere.
Will Trent's central love story is seemingly doomed in season 3, and it's partly because of one new character. ABC's crime drama is based on Karin Slaughter's book series of the same name, following the best special agent at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (Gbi) — Will Trent. Although Will's skills have served him well regarding his work, his personal life is a mess. Angie Polaski, a (former) detective, grew up with Will in the foster care system, and the two have had an on-and-off relationship ever since. However, their romance came to an end during the Will Trent season 2 finale.
New episodes of Will Trent air on Tuesdays at 8 pm Et on ABC. Season 3 is expected to have 18 episodes, the highest in the show's history.
Will arrested Angie at the end of Will Trent season 2 for covering up Lenny's murder.

We all know the concept of adapting or dying.
Television as a medium has been forced to do that for decades, and with the introduction of streaming and its subsequent upswing since then, it’s been a difficult path for network television.
The irony isn’t lost when you consider that most of a streamer’s content isn’t original programming but acquisitions of previous or already established network shows.
Network television is the basis for television, no matter how elitist some like to behave about its existence and what it offers.
(Mitch Hasseth/Disney) Audiences Critiquing Procedurals Actually Crave Everything Procedurals Provide
It’s safe to say that network television is the battleground for content, and even setting precedence for our favorite streaming series isn’t on the streamers themselves but on broadcast television.
There has been discourse about the state of television as a medium recently. So much...

Actor Faran Tahir is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney+ series ‘Vision Quest,’ a spinoff from WandaVision. Tahir will reprise his role as Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organization, a character he first played in 2008’s Iron Man. This marks Tahir’s first MCU appearance in nearly two decades, making his return a noteworthy moment for fans of the franchise.
Raza’s story was last seen in Iron Man, where he orchestrated Tony Stark’s kidnapping to force the creation of a Jericho missile. Although the character appeared to meet his end in the film, the MCU has shown time and again that death isn’t always permanent.
The series will follow Vision, played by Paul Bettany, as he attempts to regain his memories and redefine his purpose after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and WandaVision.

Marvel Studios’ upcoming Vision series with Paul Bettany is going back to the source code: Faran Tahir is joining the show as Raza, the role he originated in the studio’s first feature film, 2008’s “Iron Man.”
Bettany is returning as the ghostly white version of the synthezoid he first played in the 2015 film “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and James Spader is reprising his role from “Age of Ultron” as the titular villainous AI. Todd Stashwick (“Star Trek: Picard”) is also playing an unspecified character.
Resurrecting Tahir’s character nearly 20 years after he first appeared will mark the longest gap between appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. That’s an even more impressive feat considering that Raza — best known for kidnapping Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, the inciting incident that leads Start to become Iron Man — was seemingly killed halfway through “Iron Man” by the film’s main villain,...

Exclusive: Faran Tahir will appear in the Paul Bettany-led series Vision Quest, a WandaVision spinoff series for Disney+, sources confirm to Deadline.
Tahir will reprise the role of the villainous Raza, leader of the terrorist organization the 10 Rings who tried to kill Tony Stark in Iron Man.
Details are scarce on the new project, but as we previously reported, the Marvel Vision spinoff has been in development at Disney+ since 2022 and was picked up to series in May. It is believed to be centered on Vision (Bettany) as he tries to regain his memory and humanity. After Thanos killed him in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, Vision returned in 2021’s WandaVision.
In addition to Bettany returning to the role he has played in three Marvel films and in WandaVision, James Spader will reprise his MCU role of Ultron. Todd Stashwick will also appear in an undisclosed role.

Over the course of a film career that has grown over three decades, writer/director Regina King has built one of the most impressive sets of credits of any actor working today. From her early performances in films by John Singleton, King has worked with such other distinguished directors as Cameron Crowe, Taylor Hackford and Barry Jenkins, delivering performances that have showcased her skills in comedy, romance and even action films. All of this work culminated in an Academy Award win for her stunning performance in 2018’s “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
King’s honors are not limited to her performances on the big screen, however. For her work in television, King has won an impressive four Emmy Awards — for the Netflix series “Seven Seconds,” the HBO limited series “Watchmen” and two consecutive Emmys for her performance in ABC’s “American Crime.” In addition, she starred in several successful series — “The Boondocks,...

Jennifer Aniston Discussing Friends Pay Struggles (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Can you imagine the Friends cast tearing apart overpay? Well, Jennifer Aniston spilled the tea, revealing the one thing that almost did just that: money. “It was tough,” she confessed, reflecting on the early days when salary differences could’ve driven a serious wedge between the iconic six. Yikes, right?
Friends was the sitcom of the moment, and while the laughs were flowing, so were the paychecks—especially for Aniston and David Schwimmer. By the 2nd season, they were already raking in more cash than the rest of the crew. “It was more about, ‘We’re doing equal work, and we all deserve to be compensated in the same way,’” Jennifer shared. Oh, the solidarity! No ego was allowed to grow—at least not that much.
But here’s the kicker: instead of letting those differences mess with their bond, Aniston...

NBC is diving into the murderous world of a suburban garden club with Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
Based on the trailer alone, we’re already invested.
It’s hard to get a read on a show from a 60-second trailer, but the hook is compelling, and the cast is an embarrassment of riches, meaning we should be in for one of the more buzzy shows of the 2024-25 TV season.
(NBC/Screenshot)
According to NBC, the new one-hour drama “follows four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief, and a shared secret — a murder no one wants to talk about.”
Oh my!
“As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they try to struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in the garden above.”

Grosse Point Garden Society is set to premiere on Sunday, February 23, at 10/9c on NBC.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society is taking root amid murder and mayhem.
NBC on Friday released the first trailer for the forthcoming drama, which premieres Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10/9c. (People was the first to report the news.) In the series, a group of suburbanites reveal the first rule of their local gardening club: Everyone must have each others’ backs. Shouldn’t be too hard, in theory, except that Grosse Pointe Garden Society looks like it’s dealing with homicide, arson and more seedy misbehavior. (Oh my!)

Patty Jenkins has had one of the most fascinating careers in Hollywood over the past two decades. The incredibly talented filmmaker's debut film, Monster, was a crowning achievement that earned Charlize Theron a Best Actress Oscar. While she spent the next several years directing top-tier television, it surprisingly took Jenkins 14 years for her to make her next movie: 2017's Wonder Woman. That film became a huge cultural phenomenon, even leading to Jenkins being named #7 on Time Magazine's Person of the Year list.
Jenkins returned for Wonder Woman 1984, which had the misfortune of being released during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, she has been working to get her Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, off the ground and was recently attached to a new Lego project at Universal. The outspoken Jenkins has never been shy about her feelings regarding how women are treated in Hollywood. There is no doubt...

Tyler Perry's new Netflix movie has become a streaming hit despite mixed reviews. Perry is best known as the creator of the Madea franchise, along with playing the titular role in the comedic film series. As a filmmaker and actor, many of Perry's movies and television series have been met with divisive reception, especially from critics. However, his work has had a great deal of mainstream success, with the Madea movies only being a portion of this.
Perry has also gained recognition for the 2005 movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman, written and adapted from his stage play. He found longevity with the Tyler Perry's House of Payne series, which aired for eight seasons on TBS. In addition to Madea, Perry starred in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek movie, David Fincher's 2014 adaptation of the bestselling Gillian Flynn novel Gone Girl, and Adam McKay's satirical 2021 movie Don't Look Up,...
