A new Batman release has provided an explanation for why Gotham is overrun by so many DC Universe villains, and I have to admit it makes a lot of sense. The second season of Batman Unburied - Spotify's excellent DC audio drama - entitled Fallen City, is structured around the origin of Havey Dent's Two-Face, and sees a cabal of iconic Batman villains making their way into the spotlight. Details of this shady group of terrifying foes provide an excellent justification for the crime-ridden nature of the city.
Batman has been seen in all kinds of different media, from comic books to films to novels to some of the best Batman animated series. The character has also been featured in radio dramas over the years, with another recent entry being Batman: The Audio Adventures, an HBO Max project from 2021. Batman disowns his 'vigilante' label and declares his True title in Batman / Dylan Dog #3. This isn't the first time Bruce has distanced himself from one of his long-established titles. He has also rejected his 'Caped Crusader' moniker. Batman's true title reveals his deep attachment to Gotham City.
Warning: Potential Spoilers For Batman / Dylan Dog #3!
Batman has officially disowned another title that fans have used for decades to describe The Dark Knight. However, Batman also reveals what he actually considers himself to be, and it's not a 'crime-fighter' or even a 'hero,' but something profoundly poetic that also highlights Gotham City as his one true love.
DCs Dark Knight and Nightmare Investigator once again unite in Batman / Dylan Dog #3 by Roberto Recchioni, Werther Dell'Edera, Gigi Cavenago, and Giovanna Niro for the series finale. This issue sees the dynamic duo going up against both Joker and the newly resurrected serial killer Christopher Killex.

Hollywood is assembling a force to be reckoned with as Rosario Dawson joins Alexandra Shipp and Milla Jovovich for the upcoming action thriller Midnight. Dawson joins the project as a producer and actor, with first-time filmmaker Joshua Otis Miller directing for Yale Productions. The plan is to shop the project for potential buyers at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
According to Deadline, Midnight revolves around a young, blind woman (Shipp) who is hunted by a collective of international criminals led by Jovovich’s character. The deadly group wants a package they believe was given to Shipp’s character by her federal agent sister (Dawson). The group assumes stealing from the visually impaired will be easy, but that assumption is about to go terribly wrong. Lamont Magee and Jeff Byrd wrote the script.

Add Beck Bennett to the list of Saturday Night Live stars populating superhero movies. James Gunn recently announced that Bennett would appear in his new Superman film as Steve Lombard, a loudmouthed sportswriter who lives to torment Clark Kent.
Bennett is just the latest SNL star to find his way into the Marvel and DC cinematic universes, too. Here are other SNL vets who suited up for super action…
1 Robert Downey Jr.
The undisputed king of this list, Downey spent a tortured year as an SNL cast member when he was only 21. “I learned so much in that year about what I wasn’t,” he told the Off-Camera Show’s Sam Jones. “I was not somebody who was going to do impressions. I was somebody who was very ill-suited for rapid-fire sketch comedy.”

John Leguizamo has been a champion of Latino actors in Hollywood, but when the industry tried to diminish his talent, he made sure he would keep his head high. That’s what happened when an iconic role was almost handed to him, and the studio took it back.
John Leguizamo in John Wick
The actor almost joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2017 to play Vulture or Adrian Toomes, but the role was ultimately given to Michael Keaton. The former felt this was an act of betrayal.

In his interview with Comic Book, actor John Leguizamo made the revelation that he was supposed to be Vulture in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Riddler's 'Harley Quinn' sidekick, Miss Tuesday, could elevate him to a serious threat by providing support and reality checks, tempering his egotism. Their relationship is unlike Joker and Harley Quinn's toxic bond, with a mutual respect and equal footing that could benefit the Riddler's criminal career. Bringing Miss Tuesday to the main DC Universe may help the Riddler realize his potential and become the greatest villain in the DC Universe.
In order for the Riddler to step up his game, his 'Harley Quinn' needs to become canon as soon as possible. Edward Nygma's partner from a certain media adaptation could elevate the King of Conundrums to a serious threat.
For nearly as long as Batman has been around to keep Gotham safe from evil, the Riddler has been there to challenge the Caped Crusader with his deadly mind games and puzzles. Nygma is driven by a desire to...

Warning: Spoilers for Batman: The Audio Adventures #7 ahead!
Batman reflects on the destructive nature of crusades and rejects his title as the "Caped Crusader." Batman's partnership with Robin is his refuge from the destructive path he has chosen in his crusade against crime. The term "Caped Crusader" is often associated with a lighthearted Batman, but Batman sees it as a terrible and violent designation.
Batman has long traded in many monikers and nicknames, but has rarely outright rejected any — which makes his rebuke of one of his most famous titles, "the Caped Crusader," all the more surprising. In a thoughtful montage, Batman muses over the name bequeathed to him and the legacy it projects — as well as the legacy he is desperately trying to shape for Gotham and himself.

With a new A-list actor joining a comic book franchise seemingly every day, it’s almost easier to list the actors who haven’t attached themselves to the Marvel or DC universes. One example? John Leguizamo, who has voiced The Riddler in the “Batman: The Audio Adventures” podcast but has yet to play a superhero on the big screen. But the actor says he came closer to playing one than many fans realize.
In a new interview with Comicbook.com, Leguizamo explained that he was in the mix for Vulture, Michael Keaton’s villain from “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” The actor said that he was Marvel’s original choice for the character, and he even had a deal in place until Keaton showed interest in the role. Keaton was a hot commodity in Hollywood after his Oscar-nominated comeback performance in “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” and Marvel asked Leguizamo to step...

Exclusive: Greg Silverman and Jon Berg of Stampede Ventures have snapped up rights to screenwriter Umair Aleem’s new action-adventure spec script The Paladin, which is being eyed as a franchise-starter, unfolding into a much larger, expansive universe.
Billed as Doctor Strange meets Unforgiven, The Paladin centers on a broken-down, last-of-his-kind warrior mage who undertakes a final quest to protect a child who has the power to save or destroy our world.
Silverman and Berg will produce the feature with a plan to go into production next year. The packaging of a star and filmmaker are underway.
The Paladin comes on the heels of Aleem’s hard-action feature Kate, a 2017 Black List script, which premiered on Netflix in September starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Woody Harrelson and Mike Martineau. Kate was the most watched film on any streaming service for 12 straight days. Aleem also adapted Danger Girl and wrote the sequel to Mile 22 for STX.
