Director Lorenzo Vigas is kind of a godfather to the young actor Hatzin Navarrete. On his own words: "I saw an interview of this kid [Navarrete] talking about his own father and the relationship with his own father, and he has a lot of pain coming from that place in his heart. So I knew that he was going to bring a lot to the film. And it was very hard for him to make the film but at the same time, it opened him up to a new kind of life. And now he wants to become an actor professionally as a career, and I will continue to mentor him on that journey."
Even that the main subject of the whole trilogy is absent fathers, the director Lorenzo Vigas had a huge connection with his father. He actually is trying to depict the archetype of the father figure in Latin America.
Third film of a trilogy about troublesome fatherhood, preceded by Los elefantes nunca olvidan (2004) and Desde Allá (2015).
