The trailer for newcomer Coley Sohn's "Sassy Pants," starring "Awkward" actress Anna Rickards as a young woman on the job hunt rather than the college hunt, has hit the web.
The coming of age tale features the trials and tribulations that come with trying to make it in the real world while dealing with a difficult world at home. Rickard has to deal with a helicopter mother played by "Breaking Bad's" Anna Gunn who tries to foil her plans; and a gay father ("Napoleon Dynamite's" Deidrich Bader) dating a much younger man, played by "The Sixth Sense" star Haley Joel Osment.
Osment has been out of the spotlight for years, but that doesn't mean he wasn't busy. "Going back to elementary school and high school, I put so much work into having a regular education that it was a huge priority for me in finishing that," he tells the Huffington Post.

He sees dead people! Only this time they’re all cobbled together and brought back to life for Haley Joel Osment’s Frankenstein movie Wake The Dead. The Sixth Sense star is slated to appear in the upcoming horror film as Victor Franklin (get it?), a college student who goes all mad scientist in his attempts to re-animate the deceased. So basically we’re looking at Weekend at Bernie’s 3: Freshman Year. Victor better pray that the varsity calypso band isn’t practicing down the hall from his lab, or that monster is out of there.
If that doesn’t sound spooky/random enough for you, for some reason Slash will be producing the film. It’s been a while since Haley’s last feature film, 2007′s Home of the Giants, though he has both Sassy Pants and Montana Amazon with Alison Brie slated to come out this year.

D.G. Brock's debut feature, "Montana Amazon - The Adventures of the Dunderheads," was named as the Best Feature Film at the seventh annual Big Apple Film Festival. The comedy, starring Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis ("Moonstruck"), Oscar nominee Haley Joel Osment ("The Sixth Sense") and rising star Alison Brie ("Community," "Mad Men"), follows a rural Montana family whose secluded existence is shattered after an accidental murder forces them to evade ...

1 year ago I attended the best festival I have ever been to as a filmmaker. All the movies were free. The location was beautiful. The people were amazing. And apparently I inspired them to create an Independent Spirit Award just to give to me.
Well the Orlando Film Festival is back and it kicks off Wednesday November 3rd at the Plaza Cinema Café in Downtown Orlando. While I won.t be screening anything at the festival, I will still be on hand checking out some films and promoting my own. I will also be handing out the Independent Spirit Award, which has been named after me this year.
The festival runs from Wednesday November 3rd through Sunday November 7th. All the film screenings are free but you must get a ticket for each at the booth in front of the theater. The Plaza Cinema Café is located at 155 South Orange...

It’s been a while since Haley Joel Osment has been seen on screens – three years, to be exact, since 2007’s Home of the Giants. But while he has one other film (Montana Amazon) in the can and aiming to release later this year, he’s just signed on to a new comedy, Sex Ed.Since he’s clearly too old now to play a high school kid, it only makes sense that he’s nabbed the role of a college graduate who has his heart set on teaching algebra, but thanks to tough budget cuts, ends up leading a sexual education class. The comedic twist? He’s a virgin.Oh, but he’ll get practical advice from a mentor in a blues bar, come into conflict with the local parents’ group and fall for a beautiful Polish girl who barely speaks a word of English. But who needs words...

Today marks the 80th birthday (80th!) of cinema legend Max von Sydow. This year, a fan site points out, retrospective celebrations of his work seem highly probable. I bring this birthday up because my interview with him a year and half ago is still one of my favorite events from my Film Experience journey. He was so interesting to talk to. Consider the diversity of his resume: The Exorcist, The Seventh Seal, Awakenings, The Virgin Spring, Flash Gordon, Three Days of the Condor, Judge Dredd, Hannah and Her Sisters. He's worked with everyone from Ingmar Bergman to Steven Spielberg. If I could have tied him up for hours with more questions, I would have, believe me. His next film is Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island (previously discussed) and then we might see him in the Ww II resistance fighter drama, Truth & Treason. He's not in the trailer so we assume...

Sooner or later our favorite TV shows all come to an end and the cast and crew all go their separate ways. If we're lucky, our favorite performers return in new shows and movies. Here's where you'll be able to see some of them.
Sasha Alexander (Dawson's Creek) is currently working on Tenure, an indie film that stars Luke Wilson (That '70s Show), David Koechner (Still Standing), and Michael Cudlitz (Standoff). The movie's a comedy and centers around a college professor who competes for tenure with a hot-shot female colleague.
Michelle C. Bonilla (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) is booked to film Montana Amazon. The film stars Olympia Dukakis (Center of the Universe) and Haley Joel Osment (Murphy Brown), and features veterans like Veronica Cartwright (Leave It to Beaver, L.A. Law) and Ellen Geer (Falcon Crest).
If you're in the New York City area, you can see Bebe Neuwirth (Cheers) perform a one-woman show at Feinstein's.
