It is implied that one of the main characters is gay. Acts of this are never shown though.

Other gang shows such as The Sopranos feature much more sex than this show.

A man has sex with a prostitute. She is shown on top of him bobbing up and down while moaning. Her back and butt are shown. The man's wife walks in and pushes the prostitute off of him. The man then gets up and walks around nude (shown fully from the back but not from the front).

There are quite a few graphic scenes of male prison rape.

Sons of anarchy are working in the Pornography business for almost 4 seasons, however still the most graphic nudity we can see is the man's butt, woman's nipples was never seen in the whole show.

There are infrequent but mild sexual references that are just played for laughs

Some seasons feature gruesome prison violence.

A man is tied up to chain link fence and is beaten but survives it. Violent but not so graphic.

A school shooting occurs. While the actual deaths aren't shown, a boy is shown removing a gun from his backpack, then walking into the school. We see flashes and hear gunshots and screams. It's implied that many children died. Very upsetting.

As punishment for killing a gang member and other individuals. A man is shot with a shotgun and dies instantly. Only shown for a second.

The violence is extremely brutal and graphic, and is quite savage at certain moments.

This series contains brutal and sometimes graphic violent content.

Examples of this are beatings, stabbings, torture, fights, shootouts, etc.

Particularly strong examples include:

A woman is shot in the back of the head with an Uzi, resulting in large blood sprays. This happens twice.

A man is stabbed to death with a knife while others are made to watch.

Quite a few uses of "shit" and "bitch".

Cursing is present throughout the series, but there are no f-bombs

The most frequent profanity heard in the series are "shit", and "asshole." Also the exclamation "Jesus Christ!" is heard often as well.

Racial slurs are often heard due to the presence of race-based gangs. "Nigger", "wetback", and referring to people by "brown", "white" or "yellow" is present in the series.

Slang such as "dick", "cock", "penis", "pussy", are heard somewhat often.

Insults such as referring to women as "bitch", "whore", or "gash" have been heard in an episode or two. Insults to gay people are heard sometimes. This has happened once or twice as well. "Faggot" and "retarded" have also been used once or twice as insults.

There is drinking and smoking throughout each episode.

Jax's ex wife Wendy is a recovering drug addict, she is sometimes shown using a mixture of intravenous drugs.

Characters are shown smoking marijuana occasionally

Season 4 and 5 revolves around The Sons becoming drug mules for a cartel that deals cocaine.

The show creates a negative theme around the usage of drugs and it's consequences. Drugs are rarely taken although often sold.

Drug dealing is a minor component to the series. Other gangs such as The Mayans deal cocaine, heroine and meth for profit. Drug use is shown very briefly.

There is a drug scene in Season 2: Episode 10 where two of the characters are seen taking in 'mushrooms'. Subsequent scenes show them in a state of high. The depiction of drug use in the series, however, does not promote or endorse drug abuse.

This show contains lots of grisly and brutal violence that can be very emotional at times.

The world of this show is very violent and savage. There are multiple scenes depicting grisly gang violence, examples, include torture, shootings, shootouts, stabbings, beatings, and people burning to death.

The intention of all the violence and chaos depicted in this show is to demonstrate how outlandish and brutal being in a gang really is

Main characters get killed off in very violent ways which is very emotional and intense.
