Fox is going all-in on its first-year medical drama Doc.

The network has renewed the series, starring Molly Parker, for a second season — and the order is an old-school, 22-episode season, showing a vote of confidence after solid early returns in the ratings. Doc is averaging about 2.3 million same-day viewers, per Nielsen, but grows substantially with streaming on Hulu and other delayed viewing. Fox says the pilot episode, which aired Jan. 7, has hit 16 million viewers across all platforms (including on-air repeats).

Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment Studios produce Doc. Barbie Kligman is the showrunner and executive produces with Hank Steinberg and Erwin Stoff.

9-1-1‘s Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) is embarking on another cruise. Hopefully it won’t end like her nearly disastrous honeymoon cruise with husband Bobby (Peter Krause) when their ship capsized in the Season 7 premiere of 9-1-1. This time she’ll board The Odyssey and will meet up with the cruise ship’s Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) in a special March 20 crossover episode for Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey.

The meet-up occurs during Casino Week aboard The Odyssey when “unexpected guest Athena Grant (Bassett) suspects two passengers are targeting the ship’s vault. Variety confirmed that 9-1-1 will be staging its first ever crossover with an outside show. ABC is taking the 911 franchise to Music City.

The network has placed a series order for 911: Nashville, marking the third show in the first-responder franchise. The pickup comes on the heels of 911: Lone Star ending on Fox.

As with the other shows in the 911-verse, 911: Nashville hails from 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television. Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani will serve as executive producers and writers; Brad Falchuk and 911 star Angela Bassett are also EPs. Casting and other details will be announced later.

Ideas for a third series in the franchise have been percolating for some time, with Las Vegas floated as a potential setting. Murphy said last fall that he and Minear were working on a script for a third show, with Nashville ending up as the preferred location.

ABC’s next “9-1-1” spinoff will be set in Nashville, the network announced on Thursday. The third series in the first responder franchise has been picked up for a full season for 2025-2026.

20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television will produce the series. Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani will serve as executive producers and writers, with Brad Falchuk and Angela Bassett also executive producing.

Raisani previously told TheWrap that he had hoped to launch a spinoff featuring fan favorite couple Tk (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos (Rafael L. Silva) from “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which just ended its five-season run on Fox. He had also left the door open for a New York-based series that would follow Rob Lowe’s “Lone Star” character Owen Strand to his hometown.

After the cancellation of “9-1-1: Lone Star” at Fox, there’s a new series coming to Ryan Murphy’s emergency responder franchise: “9-1-1: Nashville,” set to premiere on ABC during the 2025-2026 season.

The news follows Variety‘s October report that a new “9-1-1” spinoff was in the works.

Though plot and casting details are yet to be shared, it can be assumed that the new “9-1-1” spinoff, like the flagship series and “Lone Star, will follow the work and personal lives of a team of first responders, this time in Tennessee.

“9-1-1” was created by Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear and premiered on Fox in 2018 before moving to ABC for its seventh season in 2024. Currently on its eighth season, the series is set in Los Angeles and stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Gavin McHugh.

While fans were still hoping for at least one more year, it was a good way to wrap the series up. This won’t be the end of the 911 world, as plans are underway for another spin-off. We don’t know specifics yet but speaking to TV Insider, showrunner Rashad Raisani shared some hints.

The 911: Lone Star series finale made sure everyone got their happy ending, but we certainly were missing one face in particular. Sitting down with showrunner Rashad Raisani, the actress behind Station 126 paramedic’s Captain Tommy Vega told Deadline it’s “so rare” to be part of such a talented TV ensemble cast, as they both mourned the end of the spinoff after five seasons.

As the series finale opens, Carlos makes his way to the 911 dispatch center which is preparing for the impact of the incoming asteroid and the overflow of calls likely to come through once the asterid makes impact. Moments before the asteroid strikes, T.K. calls Carlos but not to say goodbye but because he’s been talking with Judd about the adoption agency rejection to fuel them to keep fighting for Jonah. T.K. says he has the perfect plan and will tell him when he next seems him as they each say I love you before preparing for impact and getting under the trucks for safety.

Fox’s newest medical drama “Doc” premiered as the network’s most-watched debut in five years.

“Doc,” which stars Molly Parker as a medical chief whose memory is partially lost in a devastating accident, has grown its audience to 15.6 million viewers across platforms in the first 11 days since its Jan. 7 premiere, according to Nielsen viewing figures. The premiere now ranks as Fox’s most-watched debut telecast across all platforms in five years, since “9-1-1: Lone Star” premiered in January 2020.

With delayed viewing across Fox, Hulu and other streaming platforms, the premiere episode grew by 609% when compared to its live-plus-same-day viewership of 2.2 million, which the show brought in during its linear debut on Jan. 7.
