To who they please of the history of Mexico ó of United States, should see it.
First time we should be thanked with the director, since nobody had had the value of doing a film upon a personage so discussed. Antonio López de Santa Anna is a personage disputed in the history of Mexico, there is who we identify it like a patriot and brave soldier, an astute politician and charismatic and other, the majority certainly, little experts of the history of Mexico, they believe that was a traitor.

This film treats upon the last three days of this General, one Mexican of the century XIX, whom was born in 1794 and died to the 82 years, during those three days is done a revision of its political and military life doing an analysis of its victories and defeats, of its friends and enemy, of a General that participated in the life of México since its independence until its last years been president (1853 to 1855). It is described like an elder very near its death, revises the history of its life in company of some personages.

The film is true history. This it develops as is of being expected in the interior of its house, located in the center of the City of México. The personality of the General is characterized just as should be he; aggressive, badly spoken, he likes women very much and player. His wife Mrs Dolores Tosta, who was to young, 33 years less than he, is characterized as I feel that should be, an intelligent, handsome woman, strong temperament, admiring of his husband and who did that a great love profess him.

It is magnificent the scene of the General already dead person, dress with his uniform of soldier, with his decorations and his leg amputated, by an injury in battle in the year of 1838. The dialogues form an important part in the structure of the film, it is very recommendable to put maximum attention in them, since is a matter of a document historic.

To appreciate this film in agreement with its historic value, I suggest seeing it but of once. Another detail that describe exactly the film in the century XIX, is the interpretation of the veracruzano song of the snake, as well as verses of the song of the Margaritas, that was sung during the invasion American of México of 1847. The devotion of the General by the Virgin of Guadalupe is put in scene, in the dialogues and in the image, when he is on its bed of death behaving the decoration of the order of Guadalupe.

My recommendation is to see the film with the spirit of a historian, someone that wants to live those last three days in the life and in the house of the Excelentísimo Sr. Gral. Antonio López de Santa Anna (just as this writing in the stone of its grave).
