During the first four seasons, the series sponsor, Ford Motor Company, put their cars on the show. The Baxters' family cars were always Fords. In 1964, the show became one of the first to show its characters riding in a Mustang, which had just been introduced.
The exterior of the Baxter home was also used as the Murtaughs of Lethal Weapon (1987) and its follow-up films.
The series was noted for having a sponsor whose product, Hidden Magic Hairspray, was the first of its kind. It was short-lived, with two glaring side effects: the hairspray attracted bees and it caused bleached hair to turn green. Hidden Magic Hairspray appears in the closing credits.
The vocal version of the theme, sung by The Modernaires, plays over the end credits of the first eight episodes. From then on, an instrumental version is used.
