NCIS Season 21 ended with a shocking cliffhanger. The finale showed Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) breaking up with Special Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law). Now that the Season 22 premiere is just weeks away, one of the series showrunners, Steven D. Binder, shared some spoilers about life after the break-up of these former love birds.

NCIS Season 22 is premiering soon and fans of the military procedural drama want to know what happens to Jimmy and Jessica. Thankfully, TV Insider caught up with one of the series two showrunners, Steven D. Binder. Binder was happy to spoil a few details about the former on-screen couple. What did he have to say?

Firstly, it is “months later” than the events of the Season 21 finale.

It was a little over a year ago when NCIS, with its first episode set during the pandemic, pulled a Linda Reagan on us and gradually revealed that Dr. Jimmy Palmer’s wife, Breena, had died of Covid.

Which NCIS team members “look like they could be at death’s door”? “People will question, ‘Are these two gonna make it out of this alive?’” Brian Dietzen is talking about his character, medical examiner Jimmy Palmer, and forensic scientist Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover), exposed to a fast-acting biotoxin unknowingly brought to the lab in evidence from Quantico Marine Corps Base after the death of an intruder there. In isolation, Jimmy and Kasie exhibit “extreme adrenaline and talk to each other in ways they never have. They’re not in their right minds,” says Dietzen, who cowrote the episode with veteran scribe Scott Williams. As the clock ticks, “You see these two physically deteriorate over the course of this hour.
