Anyone who’s ever been skeptical about the safety of capitalizing on cryptocurrency will have their worst suspicions confirmed by “Cold Wallet,” a shrewd and suspenseful thriller about three would-be working-class vigilantes determined to retrieve their investments from an amoral scammer. Right from the start, director Cutter Hodierne develops a rooting interest in his self-styled avengers, even as (also right from the start) it’s clear that they are in way, way over their heads and sinking lower as the plot progresses.
We’re introduced to Billy (Raúl Castillo), an underemployed screw-up, while he loudly proclaims to other customers in a Berkshires karaoke bar that he’s been “following crypto since that Game Stop thing,” and brags that his investment in a currency called Tulip is going nowhere but up. But it really isn’t, much to his shock after he promises his young daughter (Joanna Sylvie Weinig) that he...

For whatever reason, Sony became convinced that crafting an entire franchise set in the Spider-Man universe without featuring the webslinger himself was a good idea. In fairness, Kevin Feige and the folks at Marvel Studios did create the most successful box office franchise in history by taking lesser-known characters and giving them the A-list character treatment. But the key thing there was that those early Marvel Cinematic Universe films were actually pretty good. At the least, they were solid blockbuster entertainment. Sony, on the other hand, has pumped out a string of truly bewildering films based on the Marvel characters to which it owns the rights.
"Morbius," for example, became nothing short of a joke upon its 2022 release, with Sony then trying to double down on that joke with a theatrical re-release that also flopped. Just in case the studio hadn't already doomed its then lamentably-titled "Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (Spumc)," Sony delivered,...

This is not a drill! It's been a long, long time since audiences have taken a trip to Far, Far Away but "Shrek 5" is going to bring us back there next year. As evidence of that, DreamWorks has released the first, brief teaser for the long-awaited sequel -- one that introduces us to the cast. Most of them are familiar faces but there is one new, very important addition: Welcome to the family, Zendaya.
While the above teaser doesn't make it explicitly clear who the star of "Dune" and "Challengers" is playing in the film, the folks at The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that she is voicing the daughter of Shrek and Fiona. The teaser also confirms that Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), and Eddie Murphy (Donkey) are also reprising their famous roles. “On Call,” the upcoming Wolf Entertainment drama, isn’t like the other Dick Wolf dramas on television.
The series is the company’s first scripted streaming series, rolling out all nine episodes on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 9. It’s the first half-hour drama Wolf Entertainment has released — and the first show Elliot Wolf and Tim Walsh created.
“I think that for us, the biggest thing was we both had something to prove. We had, I think, a self-imposed chip on our shoulders, not only to make it great, but to make it feel different than everything that we previously worked on, everything that we see on the television landscape today,” Wolf tells Variety.

It takes less than three minutes for the latest drama to bear Dick Wolf’s name to drop an F-bomb, adopt the dashcam, and violently kill off a familiar face at point blank range. For a man renowned for his ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it approach’ to network television, it’s akin to Dylan going electric.
Initially planned for IMDb TV and then Freevee before finding a home on Prime Video, “On Call” is also Wolf’s first straight-to-streaming project (“Law & Order: Organized Crime” only moved to Peacock in its fifth season), while each episode is done and dusted within a binge-friendly 30 minutes.

“On Call” is a decent small-scale police procedural. But is it decent enough when it comes from the house of Dick Wolf?
The pedigreed eight-part show traded broadcast networks for Prime Video, where it will premiere Thursday. The novelty is that each episode is a bite-sized 30 minutes, with modest character arcs that extend over multiple episodes, and multiple seemingly random crime sequences that propel individual installments.
The result feels like “Cops” with a script. The ride-along series puts the audience largely behind the wheel with Traci Harmon. She’s a divorced surfer with a chip on her shoulder, a junkie sister and a troubled relationship with her fellows on the force. She’s wound as tight as her bun.
Riding shotgun is her trainee, the handsome newbie Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente). The young idealist is eager for the challenge, but he keeps leaping into the danger zone, ignoring the sage...

Troian Bellisario’s On Call tells the story of Long Beach Police training officer Traci Harmon, who takes on a new trainee in the wake of her old trainee being murdered while on call. While the show has an overarching story, from episode to episode it follows on-duty officers on patrol and how hard their everyday work is. At the beginning of the show, Officer Maria Delgado is shot dead while on call. The man who shot her happens to be a part of a massive Long Beach gang. It seems there’s an understanding between the gang and the police, but this murder is a violation of that understanding, so the gang comes under the radar. On the other hand, Diaz, Harmon’s new trainee, has his own trauma that makes him wonder if he can trust his trainer at all. Of course, by the end of the show,...

I did not have Troian Bellisario playing a cop on my 2025 bingo card, but dang, it’s exciting for sure. I know a lot of us grew up watching Pretty Little Liars, however, you don’t understand my obsession with Spencer Hastings. I digress because we’re not here to talk about why Troian is a fantastically underrated actress; we’re here to talk about her new show. On Call tells the story of regular cops out and about trying to save the day. That’s the simplest way to put it. Troian plays Traci Harmon, a trainer officer who teaches the rookies how to do the job. When tragedy strikes, Traci takes it upon herself to solve the case with the help of her new trainee, Alex Diaz. While the show has an overarching revenge-ish story, the main plot revolves around Harmon and Diaz’s daily pursuit to be fantastic On Call cops.

Now, I haven’t seen any serious police activity while sunning down there, but that’s about to change when the new police drama “On Call” debuts on Thursday, Jan. 9 with all eight episodes exclusively on Prime Video. The show follows a seasoned cop and her idealistic rookie partner as they navigate the gritty streets of Long Beach while marking the first scripted streaming project for executive producer Dick Wolf (“Law & Order”) and his company, Wolf Entertainment. Here’s everything you need to know about “On Call.”

The last time Cameron Diaz graced our screens, the BAFTA nominee was singing up a storm and cussing out kids as the villainous Miss Hannigan in Will Gluck’s 2014 Annie remake. Now, after a ten-year hiatus from Hollywood, Diaz is gearing up to make her return to movies in aptly titled Netflix joint Back In Action. Assuredly not a remake of *that* early noughties Looney Tunes movie, this one is instead a spy comedy caper from Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon that reunites Diaz with her Annie and Any Given Sunday co-star Jamie Foxx. This time out, the duo play Emily and Matt, a seemingly ordinary suburban couple whose past lives as elite CIA agents comes back to haunt them when their cover gets spectacularly blown.
For Diaz, who’s spent the last decade raising a family with former Good Charlotte guitarist husband Benji Madden, it was the Foxx factor that swung her cinematic comeback.

If you were to walk up to somebody 20 years ago and ask them about a film's length, a common consensus was likely to emerge: the longer the runtime, the less appealing it is to watch. In 2024, however, the response might be different. In 2021, the Los Angeles Times reported a study that concluded less than half of moviegoers are dissuaded by lengthy runtimes. In 2023, Slate reported that the average runtime of the 10 highest-grossing movies in the United States was 2 hours and 23 minutes -- over 20 minutes longer than 20 years ago. With rising trends in long-form content engagement across film, television, and online video, it has become clear that people are ready for longer viewing experiences, TikTok attention spans be damned.
Most people look at beefy, historical epics like "The Ten Commandments" and "Lawrence of Arabia" as the be-all and end-all of long-form cinema, but those are just the tip of the iceberg.

Cameron Diaz became one of the most bankable stars in the early 2000s, but that did not stop her from quitting acting back in 2014. So, coming out of retirement to star in 2025’s Back in Action was definitely a decision she contemplated for quite some time.

Was Bad Teacher a big jackpot for Cameron Diaz? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Cameron Diaz made a legitimate move by swapping a fat upfront salary for a percentage of the backend profits. In simpler terms, she bet on herself—and it paid off big time.
At first glance, Bad Teacher looked like a mid-level comedy with a modest $20M budget. No one expected it to light up the box office charts. But Diaz had a knack for picking winners. She played the percentages right, and the movie pulled in a whopping $216 million worldwide when the dust settled. Diaz made more than double the film’s budget Inn in the early 00s; Diaz was a comedy queen with a sharp wit and impeccable timing. Remember There’s Something About Mary? That iconic hair-gel scene? Yeah, that kind of comedic genius. Diaz became a bankable star, effortlessly blending humor and heart. But Bad Teacher...

Have you seen "The Holiday?" If you are my wife, the answer to this question is, "Yes, probably about 423 times." I have seen "The Holiday" almost as much, simply as a result of living with a woman who turns this Christmas movie on whenever it gets a bit chilly outside. In that sense, the film is absolutely deserving of its spot on /Film's list of the most rewatchable Christmas movies, even while it manages to send a tinge of despair throughout my body as soon as I hear the opening credits.
But it turns out I am not the only long suffering husband to have been trapped in an endless time loop wherein Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz are seemingly doomed to swap lives and fall in love for eternity. "The Holiday" is currently dominating the Prime Video charts, as wives across the world plunge their husbands into this festive nightmare scape.

For fans of The Holiday movie hoping to someday Airbnb the cottage from the film, Jude Law has some disappointing news.
In an interview with BBC Radio on Sunday, the actor, who starred in the 2006 film alongside Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black, made a big reveal about the film’s Rosehill cottage after the hosts asked him if they could “Airbnb that cottage.”
“That cottage doesn’t exist,” Law told them. “Oooh, yeah,” he added as they all shared shocked reactions.
“So the director, she’s a bit of a perfectionist,” he said of Nancy Meyers. “She toured that whole area and didn’t quite find the chocolate box cottage she’s looking for. So she just hired a field and drew it and had someone build it.”
He explained how filming at the cottage worked: “So here’s the funny thing, if you watch it … We were shooting in the winter here.

When filmmaker Richard Kelly made his feature directorial debut "Donnie Darko" in 2001, it caused a stir in the arthouse world. "Donnie Darko" quickly accumulated a passionate cult who fell in love with its unbalanced hero (Jake Gyllenhaal) and its twisted time-travel plot. It was a combination psychological horror film and bizarro indie coming-of-age-in-the-1980s tale. Unsurprisingly, it only took a few additional years for "Donnie Darko" to become a regular staple on the midnight movie circuit, with fans dressing up as the film's enigmatic Frank the Bunny on Halloween.
The cult success of "Donnie Darko," however, seemingly went to Kelly's head as he appeared to become very, very convinced of his own importance as a new artistic voice in the indie film world. It took five years, but he eventually returned to theaters with the utterly gonzo "Southland Tales," an epic and ambitious film about the horrors of the George W. Bush administration.

Cameron Diaz made a rare public appearance Tuesday in Los Angeles to help honor “Emilia Pérez” stars Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón at Elle magazine’s Women in Hollywood event.
“It’s really quite incredible to be in this room right now because it reminds me so much of what I love about making movies – the intimacy and the connection,” Diaz said. She praised “Emilia Pérez” as “a powerful exploration of identity, resilience and the courage it takes to break free from the constraints of societal norms, of patriarchal constraints.
“It is also a deeply human story about love and a journey to find one’s authentic self,” Diaz continued. “What these three actresses have accomplished with this film…it is truly remarkable. Together, they have created something unforgettable.”

Deion Sanders thinks his new Tubi talk series “We Got Time Today” provides him with an audience from which he can “recruit” fans — and perhaps potential football prospects.

Among Disney's vast catalog of characters, some of the most popular are the Disney princesses, yet not every princess gets the attention or the treatment she rightfully deserves.
