What does it take to write one of the best metalcore albums of the year? A lot of anime apparently, at least according to Jack Beatson and Tyler Norris of the Delaware band Foreign Hands. From crushing riffs to emotive lyrics, What’s Left Unsaid pulls at the heartstrings the same way many of your favorite anime series do. I spoke with them ahead of the album’s release to talk about meeting other nerds on tour, the origins of their love of the medium, and exploring every genre anime has to offer. Have there been any bands that you've toured with that are also big anime fans? Jack Beatson : Obviously SeeYouSpaceCowboy, I know you've talked to them before. Tyler, are you thinking of anyone? Tyler Norris : I think SeeYouSpaceCowboy was the biggest weebs we know. Connie and Ethan mentioned that you would go to comic shops and load up on Blu-rays,...

Kevin Smith’s Semi-Autobiographical ‘The 4:30 Movie’ Centers on ’80s Teen Cinephiles — Watch Trailer
Kevin Smith has often blurred the lines between documentary and fiction. With semi-autobiographical film “The 4:30 Movie”, the writer/director is tapping into his New Jersey teen years.
Smith wrote and directed the feature that is billed as his “most personal film to date.” The coming-of-age story stars “Clerks 3” actor Austin Zajur as Brian David, a teen cinephile (and Smith surrogate) who regularly sneaks into movie theaters.
The official synopsis for “The 4:30 Movie” reads: “Three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local cineplex. When one of the guys invites the girl of his dreams to see an R-rated film, all hilarity breaks loose, as a self-important theater manager (Ken Jeong) and teen rivalries interfere with his best-laid plans.”
The film takes place in the summer of 1986, and includes cameos from former Smith collaborators Justin Long, Rosario Dawson, Jason Biggs, Jason Mewes, Jason Lee (all the Jasons), and more.

The 4:30 Movie: Kevin Smith shares a look at movie within the movie, reveals when trailer will debut
The 4:30 Movie is the sixteenth feature film from director Kevin Smith, and a while back the movie not only received an R-rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board, but it also secured a distribution deal with Saban Films that will see it reaching theatres sometime this fall (we had previously heard that it would be out this summer, but it apparently shifted back a little bit). Today, Smith took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes look at a movie within the movie, and also revealed that he will be showing the trailer for The 4:30 Movie during his panel at the San Diego Comic-Con later this month!
Smith wrote, “Astro Blaster And The Beaver-men is the fake flick all the kids in 1986 wanna see in my new film The 4:30 Movie – coming this fall!. Logic plays the Flash Gordon-ish hero from Earth and Diedrich Bader plays...

Both Neil Druckmann, the writer and director at Naughty Dog, and Hideo Kojima, the legendary visionary, have contributed significantly to the gaming industry. While Druckmann expressed the difficulty of making massive triple-a games, which took a toll on his life, Kojima has plotted various projects with different publishers and film companies to develop new games and a live-action movie in his quest to elevate cinema and break the boundaries between film and gaming, as Druckmann is waiting for his endgame.
Neil is a talented gameplay programmer who worked on Naughty Dog projects including Jak 3 and Jak X. He contributed to the story development of Uncharted games and directed The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, and The Last of Us Part II. Hideo Kojima is a video game auteur known for his complex stories and large-scale projects. Despite his success, the ambitious director doesn’t know the meaning of the word stop.

The rapper Logic has been unabashed about his love for Frank Sinatra, even adopting the nom de plume “Young Sinatra” for some of his mixtape releases. But he’s been just as up-front with his adoration for the man many consider the real young Sinatra: Seth MacFarlane, who, besides irreverently having created several of the world’s most popular animated comedy series, has released seven reverent albums of standards culled from the Great American Songbook.
Logic was finally able to bring his MacFarlane fandom to the ultimate fruition by enlisting the animation mogul to croon the soothing bridge of an otherwise typically hyperactive new hip-hop song, “Self-Medication.” Although not a single per se, it’s a track that’s gotten significant streaming boosts as Logic’s (and MacFarlane’s) fans have discovered it since the late February release of the rapper’s new album, “College Park.” It’s all of...

Kid Cudi has always been transparent in his music - it's the reason he's considered one of the most influential artists of our generation. The prolific rapper's intimate documentary, A Man Named Scott, digs deep into the grisly struggles he's experienced in his career. The film reveals how Cudi used music as his therapy to work through his inner turmoil and, in doing so, how he inspired a new generation of rap artists to have a real dialogue around one of the most important issues today: mental health.
Hip-hop has always had a complicated relationship with mental health. The genre became an outlet for artists to rap about their everyday struggles in its early years (like Dmx's "Slippin'" and Geto Boys' "Mind Playing Tricks on Me"). Still, mental health advocacy in rap didn't gain much-needed momentum until the 2010s. Kid Cudi, who started out as Kanye West's protégé in 2008, was...

Exclusive: Apple TV+ has opted not to order a second season of Mr. Corman, A24’s half-hour schoolteacher comedy-drama created, written, directed, executive produced and headlined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The series’ final episode, “The Big Picture”, was released earlier today.
Mr. Corman premiered Aug. 6 to mostly solid reviews (70% on Rotten Tomatoes) but did not draw a wide audience on the platform the way other Apple TV+ comedy series have done this past summer, including flagship Ted Lasso, Schmigadoon!, Physical, Mythic Quest and Trying, which have either been renewed or looking good for renewal.

The opening shot of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s 10-part “Mr. Corman,” which debuted on Apple TV+ with its first two episodes last week, finds the creator/producer/director/writer/star beating out a rhythm on his chest with his hands, a harbinger of the musical piece he will have completed by the season’s close. The eclectic soundtrack album, featuring Nathan Johnson’s jagged, instrumental score and several original songs, has been released by Kobalt Music Group’s Awal label, and is now available on major DSPs.

Can Josh find new inspiration in the first season of the Mr. Corman TV series on Apple TV+? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like Mr. Corman is cancelled or renewed for season two. Apple TV+ and other streaming platforms, however, collect their own data. If you've been watching this TV series, we'd love to know how you feel about the first season episodes of Mr. Corman here.
An Apple TV+ comedy-drama series, the Mr. Corman TV show was created, written, and directed by its star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The rest of the cast includes Arturo Castro, Debra Winger, Bobby Hall a.k.a. Logic, Alexander Jo, Juno Temple, Jamie Chung, Shannon Woodward, and Hector Hernandez. One of the most common aspects of the human condition is also one of the most difficult to consistently and compellingly depict on TV: boredom. Typically, movies or series that open on a character who’s frustrated with the redundancies of their day-to-day life soon give way to an extraordinary and eye-opening adventure, where the subject (and audience) learns to appreciate what they have and/or step out of their comfort zone a little more often (off the top of my head: “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”). But if there is no adventure — if, instead, there’s just the struggling, stagnant lead going through his typical, unchanging life — those stories run the risk of trapping their audience in a headspace both limited and unwelcoming.

Apple TV+ has launched a new trailer for the upcoming comedy series featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, ‘Mr Corman’.
The series follows the days and nights of Josh Corman (played by Gordon-Levitt), an artist at heart but not by trade. A career in music hasn’t panned out, and he teaches fifth grade at a public school in the San Fernando Valley. His ex-fiancé Megan has moved out, and his high school buddy Victor has moved in. He knows he has a lot to be thankful for but finds himself struggling nevertheless through anxiety, loneliness, and a sinking suspicion that he sucks as a person. Darkly funny, oddly beautiful, and deeply heartfelt, this relatable dramedy speaks for our contemporary generation of 30-somethings: rich with good intentions, poor with student loans, and yearning to become real grown-ups sometime before they die.
Created by, directed by and executive produced by Joseph Gordon Levitt along with Bruce Eric Kaplan,...

‘Love is Blind: After the Altar’ to Reunite Season 1 Cast for July Reunion Special (TV News Roundup)
The original quarantine couples are back. “Love is Blind: After the Altar,” and three-episode special followup to “Love is Blind,” will premiere July 28 on Netflix.
“Love is Blind: After the Alter” brings back Season 1 fan favorites as they prepare for a two-year anniversary party for the Hamiltons and the Barnetts, the two couples to successfully make it down the aisle during the “Love is Blind” experiment. Ahead of the party, audiences will get to catch up with the cast as they settle back into their daily lives in Atlanta, Ga. When the show ended, some singles left with a sour taste in their mouth about the experiment’s outcomes, so there is no doubt there will be drama and surprise appearances.
“When we get the group together, it’s always a fun time,” Cameron Hamilton assures in the trailer, which you can watch below.

Apple released the first trailer for its upcoming dramedy “Mr. Corman,” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as an unfulfilled fifth-grade teacher.
Set to premiere on Aug. 6, the series stars Gordon-Levitt as Josh Corman, “an artist at heart but not by trade,” according to Apple’s description. “A career in music hasn’t panned out, and he teaches fifth grade at a public school in the San Fernando Valley. The trailer showcases some of the series’ more surrealist elements, including a looming meteor hovering in the background and a “Doctor Strange”-esque sequence in which a punch from the Joker sends Gordon-Levitt flying into space.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Mr. Corman is down on his luck, or at least he thinks so when he reflects on his life in the new trailer for Mr. Corman. The comedy-drama series premieres via Apple TV+ on August 6th.
In the new trailer, Mr. Corman is disillusioned by the life he’s leading. Rather than living his dream of being a rock star, he’s a fifth-grade teacher. His fiancée has left, and he’s suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. But despite his self-doubt, he has a lot of supportive people around him.

Juicy J has dropped his video for “1995” featuring Logic. The song appears on his newly released The Hustle Continues via eOne.
In the Justin Fleischer and Mike Holland-directed video, Juicy J and Logic reflect on how and what they were doing in the year 1995 and how that relates to where they are now. Logic opens with his verse. “My lane different, too sufficient, my brain different,” he raps of that time period. “I’m ill though, 15, mastered the skill though.” Juicy J recalls “Whipping through North Memphis back in 1995/Screamin’ ‘Mafia’ had my city hypnotized.

While some decide to invest their hard-earned money in rental housing, stocks or precious metals, others have turned to the world of graded cards as a means of expanding their net worth.
Sports cards have long been a popular (if unconventional) means of investing money, of course, but even the high prices some of those fetch at auction pale in comparison to Pokémon. As the highest-grossing entertainment product in history – total revenue currently stands at an eye-watering $103 billion – it’s perhaps not at all surprising that some of the oldest and rarest merchandise ever created for the franchise demands premiums in the hundreds of thousands. As Pokéfans will undoubtedly already know, several incredibly sought-after cards have gone under the hammer for six-figure sums this year alone, and that list has grown even further today.
Perhaps even more surprising, however, is the identity of the individual who just dropped $220,000 on Pokémon’s so-called crown jewel.

With many of the country’s independent concert venues in limbo — having been without business since March because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic — over 600 major recording artists, including Dave Grohl, Neil Young, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Robert Plant, Willie Nelson, and Coldplay, have signed a letter to Congress imploring legislators to financially support these institutions.
The National Independent Venue Association, which formed in April and announced the letter with 600 artist signatories on Thursday afternoon, has warned that more than 1,000 independent concert venues face a permanent shutdown if they don’t receive more federal assistance.
