Exclusive: Margaret Cho and David Koechner have been set to round out the cast of the satirical indie comedy Faith Based, joining Luke Barnett, Tanner Thomason, Jason Alexander, Lance Reddick, Danielle Nicolet, Carly Craig, Danny Woodburn and Christoph Sanders.

Directed by Vincent Masciale, the pic is about two friends who come to the realization that all “faith based” films are extremely profitable and set out on a mission to make one of their own.

Cho will play the CEO of ChristFlix, a Netflix for Christian cinema, while Koechner is Butch Savage, a washed up 1980s action star the main characters are trying to get to star in their movie.

Production is currently underway. Lone Suspect is producing with Giles Daoust of Title Media, Thomason and Tim Kerigan. Catherine Dumonceaux, Reddick, and Matthew Emerson are executive producers.

Cho is repped by Wme and manager Sarah Martin.

Exclusive: Seinfeld alum Jason Alexander has signed on to join Faith Based, an indie comedy from director Vincent Masciale and writer Luke Barnett currently filming in Los Angeles.

It’s a satire of the Christian film industry that follows two friends, Barnett and Tanner Thomason (both Funny or Die regulars), who come to the realization that all “faith based” films are extremely profitable and set out on a mission to make one of their own.

Alexander, who earned multiple Emmy noms for his role as George Costanza, will play Nicky Steele, the eccentric head of a weight loss tea pyramid scheme and hero to Barnett’s character.

Lance Reddick, Danielle Nicolet, Carly Craig, Seinfeld alum Danny Woodburn and Christoph Sanders are among the cast.

John Wick actor Lance Reddick has come aboard Faith Based, a satirical take on the Christian film industry from Lone Suspect. Vincent Masciale is directing the comedy, which is also being produced by Giles Daoust of Title Media, Tanner Thomason, and Tim Kerigan. Reddick will play Barnett’s disapproving, adoptive father and pastor of Elevate, a hipster church in North Hollywood. Rlje Films has acquired all North American rights to the adventure film “The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot,” starring Sam Elliott.

Written and helmed by Robert D. Krzykowski in his directorial debut, the film also stars Aidan Turner, Ron Livingston, Caitlin FitzGerald, Larry Miller and Ellar Coltrane. Rlje Films plans to release the film nationally in theaters, VOD and digital HD in the first quarter of 2019.

Rlje Films announced today that they have acquired all North American rights to the upcoming adventure film The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot directed and written by Robert D. Krzykowski and starring A Star Is Born actor Sam Elliott.

The film, which marks Krzykowski directorial debut made its World Premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival and also stars Aidan Turner (Poldark), Ron Livingston, Caitlin FitzGerald (Masters of Sex), Larry Miller (Pretty Woman) and Ellar Coltrane (Boyhood).

The story follows a legendary American war veteran named Calvin Barr (Elliott/Turner) who, decades after serving in WWII and assassinating Adolf Hitler, must now hunt down the fabled Bigfoot. Living a peaceful life in New England, the former veteran is contacted by the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to lead the charge as the creature is carrying a deadly plague and is hidden deep inside the Canadian wilderness.

Obsessed with his investigation, Anderson finds out that his wife was the victim of a team of father-and-son serial killers. He’ll have to break all the rules to stop them from killing other women.

Giles Daoust wrote the script and will produce via Title Media with Lone Suspect’s Luke Barnett and Vincent Masciale as well as Mike Macari from Koji Productions. Catherine Dumonceaux will serve as executive producer.

Sony is moving ahead with its remake of “Jagged Edge,” hiring attorney-turned-screenwriter Melissa London Hilfers to pen the script for the Halle Berry-starrer.

Doug Belgrad’s 2.0 Entertainment banner is co-financing the film. Belgrad is producing with Matti Leshem. Berry plays a defense attorney in the pic.

The original 1985 thriller “Jagged Edge” starred Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges. Bridges’ publisher character was accused of murdering his heiress wife. Close portrayed the lawyer for Bridges’ character and Robert Loggia was nominated for an Oscar for his role as a private detective.

Hilfers was a litigator for Cravath, Swaine & Moore before becoming a screenwriter. She’s repped by UTA, and Alan Gasmer and Friends. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

Exclusive: Kevin and Matthew McManus, the sibling duo who serve as writers on Netflix’s crime parody series American Vandal, are set to direct The Block Island Sound, a horror-thriller which will mark their sophomore feature. No stranger to the independent circuit, Roxy Shih is a Taiwanese-American filmmaker who has screened her work at acclaimed festivals such as the La Asian Pacific Film Festival, SXSW, Toronto Independent, and Dances with Films.

“The Tribe,” her debut feature film, earned her various awards, including Best Director at Other Worlds Austin. Having just recently wrapped production on the first season of the new sci-fi anthology series “Dark / Web,” Shih has now been tapped to take on her second feature: the genre-twisting thriller “Painkillers.” The film is written by Giles Daoust, best known for his screenwriting work on genre pictures like “The Room” (no, not that “The Room” and “Artifacts”).

Frontières International Co-Production Market has unveiled the full line-up for its third European edition.

Taking place at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (Bifff) from March 30-April 1, Frontières will showcase 20 projects from the likes of Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Turkey and the UK.

A total of 20 projects were selected from a record number of submissions new projects from Baskin’s Can Evrenol, Doc Of The Dead’s Alexandre Philippe, Go Down Death’s Aaron Schimberg and I Sell The Dead’s Glenn McQuaid.
