Richard Allen began his career as an actor with the Theater Co. of Boston in the mid 1960s. He went to New York as a writer and actor with Channel One Underground TV, which later became the hit movie, The Groove Tube. He was busy then making his own short films. Since then, his shorts have shown in film festivals worldwide and on PBS. He's been awarded fellowships in film from the National Endowment on Arts, twice, as well as a New York CAPS fellowship. He is the author of a book: Street Shots/Hooky NYC Photographs 1970s. The comedy Side By Each [2008] was his first feature film. He's now finished his 3rd feature called: Poems Without Words. He lives in Rhode Island. His production Company there is called City Pound Productions.
