Peacock is developing a limited series about Thomas Randolph called “The Thing About Tommy,” sources tell Variety.
In April, Randolph was sentenced to at least sixty years in prison for the murder of his wife and the man he hired to kill her. This was not his first conviction or his first deceased wife, however; Randolph is also known as Black Widower for having been married six times, with four of his wives ending up dead, though he maintains his innocence.
The true crime series will be written by Bruce Marshall Romans, who has previously written and produced on “Shantaram” on Apple TV+, “Deputy” on Fox and “Messiah” and “Marvel’s The Punisher” on Netflix.
Romans serves as executive producer alongside Jason Blum, Chris Dickie and Jeremy Gold for Blumhouse and Liz Cole for NBC News Studios. Universal Content Productions is the studio.

The NBC limited series The Thing About Pam, starring Renée Zellweger, concluded its run on Tuesday, April 13, but has clearly made its mark for the network as its top-rated new series of the 2021-2022 season.
The show centers on the 2011 murder of State Farm employee Betsy Faria, which resulted in her husband Russ’s conviction, although he insisted he didn’t kill her and was later exonerated. This brutal crime set off a chain of events that would expose a diabolical scheme deeply involving Pam Hupp (Zellweger).
The series premiered in March and its opening episode performed decently with a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.79 million viewers. Since then, the episode jumped up to a 4.24 in the demo and tallied 14 million viewers – a 5x audience increase – across live, delayed and digital viewing, according to the network. The company also said that the pilot marked NBC’s best digital launch ever.

Exclusive: Deadline has the first pair of exclusive tracks from Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli’s score for The Thing About Pam, which is set for release via Milan Records on April 15, following the airing of the NBC true-crime ratings hit’s finale.
The Blumhouse Television-produced limited series centers on the 2011 murder of State Farm employee Betsy Faria (Katy Mixon), which resulted in her husband Russ’s (Glenn Fleshler) conviction, although he insisted he didn’t kill her and was later exonerated. This brutal crime set off a chain of events that would expose a diabolical scheme deeply involving Faria’s supposed friend, Pam Hupp (Renée Zellweger).
From Belousova and Ostinelli’s perspective, Pam is someone who “tromps through town like a predatory larger-than-life force that will crush anything that comes her way.”
The show’s main theme, “The Thing About Pam,” is billed as “a motif combined with a predatory march,...

It seems clear that there won't be a second season of The Thing About Pam because the series is based on a real murder case that has been solved. Still, if the show does well enough in the ratings, could the NBC network make other dramatizations like this? Stay tuned.

I’m not going to tell you anything you haven’t already heard; Whiplash is great, even (perhaps especially) if you’re not particularly into jazz drumming. J.K. But like I said, you already know all that. It’s hard not to with so much buzz surrounding the film, but oddly for a movie at this level of hype there hasn’t been a whole lot...

'Whiplash' movie review: 'Emotionally explosive film' (photo: J.K. Simmons in 'Whiplash') Damien Chazelle, writer and director of Whiplash, his 2014 Sundance Film Festival-winning second feature, is himself a musical prodigy of sorts. He attended the sort of prestigious musical conservatory his protagonist — played by the acerbic, ascending star Miles Teller — attends in Chazelle's sharply realized, emotionally explosive film. Whiplash, in fact, is a most appropriate title. The “insider's” perspective can sometimes burden a young filmmaker — or a filmmaker of any age, really. Knowing too much can be a trap; the inclination to “get it right” down to the last well-known detail can muddy a story and stifle narrative flow. And there's the possibility — or rather, the likelihood — that the filmmaker's personal experience is actually interesting only to the filmmaker. Chazelle avoids these pitfalls. Whiplash, while stylish and slightly elliptical, is neither muddy nor stifling. It flows freely; it's literally...

It takes quite an acting performance to outshine Tom Arnold on the koo-koo front, but Overkill, the new comedy web series from 60Frames debuting this week has accomplished just that. You see, it's his daughter Carrie (Allison Munn) who takes the bonkers cake in this one, a pretty young lady with a zesty penchant for serial killers. Allison Munn has been playing crazy so long I'm starting to wonder what's going on there. Yes, I remember her from That '70s Show as Fez's' psycho-possessive girlfriend Caroline. Apparently so do Overkill creators Jeffrey Ventimilia and Joshua Sternin who incidentally produced That 70's Show a few years back. Her scrunchy-faced brand of crazy really got going as Cindy in ABC's short-lived half-hour Carpoolers, and it lends a polish to this otherwise risky storyline. The story picks up at Episode 1: "Dead Man Walking" (above) with a quiet young retail clerk Henry Graham...
