The award’s very first recipient, Bobby Darin, was a huge star with his signature hit, “Mack the Knife,” and a couple other top-10s in his debut year. Ever since,...

Crash begins with Kehlani Parrish tumbling through watery depths. “I’m kind of crazy,” they sing as a backing chorus trills lightly in a reflection of asphyxia. When they hit the ocean’s floor, the beat switches on “GrooveTheory” into a slow, sinuous cut, the kind that will be familiar to fans of the non-binary singer’s vibrant, iconoclastic past work, which has exerted a major influence on the queering of contemporary Black pop. “Come talk with me/Wanna get you open,” they sing.
What unfolds on Crash proves to be anything but formulaic.

It was just last week we were celebrating the 20th anniversary of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which catapulted Michel Gondry into the Hollywood system with the likes of Be Kind Rewind and The Green Hornet. Gondry is now mounting his return to Hollywood, the details of which have now been unveiled.

Nigel Farage failed in his quest to win I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! last night as he finished third in the final of the ITV juggernaut, which saw viewing decline dramatically from last year’s closer.
Farage equalled former Health Secretary Matt Hancock’s finish last year, as ITV’s penchant for throwing controversial politicians into the jungle continued into 2023.
But the show lost a whopping 4M viewers from last year’s finale, tumbling to just 6.5M with a share of 42%, peaking with 7.5M. The show failed to even top the daily charts behind the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing results show. In 2022, 10.4M (54.2%) watched the final when footballer Jill Scott took home the crown. That ep peaked with 11.5M during a top-rated season. The launch of 2022 was also well up on 2023, by around 2M, although Gb News producer Ben Leo accidentally tweeted otherwise three weeks ago.

Restarted negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers that could mean an end to the actors strike have raised hopes for this year’s American Film Market, which runs Oct. 31-Nov, 5 in Santa Monica. What everyone is hoping for is, in the words of one leading indie producer, that “we can all get back to business.”
Even without a new SAG-AFTRA deal, there is a healthy batch of new titles on offer — a mix of international features and U.S. indie films that have secured interim agreements from the union to begin production. “In the last few days we’ve seen a waterfall of lineups,” says Nadiia Zaionchkovska, Cco of newly-founded Ukraine distributor Green Light Films, which will be making its market debut at this year’s AFM. “Lots of theatrical films, lots either in post or in pre-production, ready to shoot in the first...

It’s 2003 and Jay-Z is planning a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden to celebrate his retirement from music.
But his bass player is unavailable. Adam Blackstone, a jack-of-all-trades who plays bass, drums, piano, organ, tuba and sousaphone — and is also a songwriter, producer, composer and everything else under the musical sun — is more than ready to step in.
Twenty years later, Blackstone, now 40, is still working closely with Jay-Z; both are Emmy winners for last year’s hip-hop-heavy Super Bowl halftime show. And the musician who has helped everyone from Rihanna to Justin Timberlake shine is stepping into his own limelight.
Rihanna performed during the Super Bowl Lvii halftime show in February.
After winning an Emmy in 2022 for music direction, Blackstone is nominated again. This time, however, he’s a double nominee. Not only is he competing for his work on Rihanna’s explosive Super Bowl performance (a nom...

Two artists. Two sets of lyrics. Two controversies brewing.
Taylor Swift has changed the lyrics on the newly recorded version of the song “Better Than Revenge,” part of her album “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) released Friday.
The original version of the song – allegedly a revenge song against an unnamed actress who “stole” then-boyfriend Joe Jonas – states, “She’s an actress, whoa / She’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress, whoa.”
The new version Swift has changed the line to “He was a moth to the flame, she was holding the matches.”
Apparently, Swift has let time and changing perspectives influence her decisions on what’s acceptable. Earlier, she asked fans not to harass the subject of her song “Dear John,” allegedly about her hurt over a relationship with singer-songwriter John Mayer.
In a 2014 interview with The Guardian, 25-year-old Taylor talked about “Better Than Revenge.

The evening of April 12 was quite the wild ride on social media, as Liam Payne and Tommy Fury both added posters of them facing off on their Instagram feeds. The mock-up design looked very similar to posters publicising big boxing fights, as the profile of the One Direction singer faced the former "Love Island" star with the words "Old Trafford" and "This Summer" between them.
Naturally, the internet went into a meltdown, assuming a huge celebrity boxing match was in the cards. The idea wasn't beyond the realm of possibility either, considering Fury recently beat US YouTuber Jake Paul in the ring just days after he became a dad – he even dedicated his win to baby Bambi and girlfriend, Molly-Mae. But fans weren't impressed with Payne's career change.
