The Love Witch has set her sights on the UK. The Final Girls have teamed up with Icon Distribution and FrightFest Presents to bring Anna Biller's latest film to select UK theaters. There's a pernicious misapprehension afoot that the Brits are the polite ones while Yanks are inclined to brusqueness or brashness, but a comparison of the varied reactions to the deaths of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher would seem to give the lie to this. While "The Great Communicator" was hailed for ending the Cold War (something surely Mr. Gorbachev deserves some credit for), with little mention of his disastrous economic policies and illegal covert wars, Thatcher has received her due as a "divisive" figure, even on the BBC. And, as I write this, there is a genuine chance that "Ding Dong, The Witch is Dead," will reach number one in the UK charts.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced Tuesday (April 24) the nominations for its 2012 television awards. British miniseries "Appropriate Adult," which chronicles the real-life serial killer Fred West, leads the way with four nominations.

Other notable nominations include Dame Maggie Smith up for Supporting Actress for her work on "Downton Abbey" - it's the only nomination "Downton" received, after earning two nominations the previous year. "Modern Family" also earned a nomination in the International category.

The Comic Strip returns to British TV on Friday 14th October as Channel 4 air a one-off special entitled The Hunt for Tony Blair. The former Prime minister’s fall from grace may be no laughing matter for his political supporters but comedy writers Peter Richardson and Pete Richens have a rather different take on the matter.

In this film noir style caper Stephen Mangan plays Tony Blair as he tries to evade the authorities after committing a murder after a rough day at number 10.
