There's nothing worse than starting a TV show, getting invested in the rich plot and characters, and having it ruined by a bad final season. Ranging from rushing through the plot to destroying a beloved character's growth in the final seasons, many TV shows fall into the trap of being ruined because of unsatisfying and terrible endings. Sudden cancellations of TV shows and cutting down on the length of the final season are often the culprits behind messy final seasons.
Given more time to flesh out character motivations and intricate plotlines, a lot of shows that suffered a lackluster final season could have been improved with a few more episodes. While the addition of episodes can't fix mischaracterization issues and terrible plot twists, they can potentially make the final season feel more coherent, maintain the storyline's quantity, and provide a meaningful resolution.

There are loads of fantasy TV shows that audiences love for their stellar visual effects and high-quality production value, but there are also many other titles with a low budget that are just as great. The best fantasy TV shows of 2024 demonstrate just how much the genre has grown and changed, but these projects also highlight just how expensive they are to make. Fantasy is such a wide-ranged genre, and when wild and wacky creatures or magic are involved, a lot of behind-the-scenes work is needed.
Even the best animated fantasy TV shows ever are familiar with these struggles. Creating a particular chunk of animation, with all kinds of imagery and detailing, is a lengthy and costly process. However, money isnt everything, and making a good TV show is possible without breaking the bank. Fantasy stories are up to interpretation and rely on the imagination of others, especially for book adaptations,...

Medieval war movies have often struggled to find commercial success at the box office, despite positive critical reception. The Last Duel, The King, and The Green Knight are recent medieval war films that were well-made but underperformed commercially. Ridley Scott's Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven is considered an excellent medieval war epic and a must-watch for fans of the genre.
Medieval war movies are generally few and far between, and several worth watching have flown under the radar. While World War II films have remained consistently appealing for decades in Hollywood, sword-and-sandal war movies have been far less consistent in their success. The Golden Age of Hollywood popularized historical epics, and they had a slight resurgence in the '90s and 2000s with films like Braveheart and Gladiator that found commercial success. Great medieval movies flew under the radar between eras, flopping at the box office despite positive critical reception.

"I hope to bring you a life of ease and pleasure." Brainstorm Media has reveal a new US trailer for a kooky UK sci-fi thriller called T.I.M., made by filmmaker Spencer Brown. What if M3gan but about a sexy robot instead of a child's doll? That's pretty much the concept here. The sci-fi AI thriller, T.I.M. (which stands for Technologically Integrated Manservant), stars Georgina Campbell (from Barbarian), Eamon Farren as T.I.M., Mark Rowley, Amara Karan, and Nathaniel Parker. Inspired by '90s stalker thrillers, the film follows Abi (Campbell), a prosthetics engineer, and her husband Paul. As they adapt to a new life outside the city, Abi's latest project, the A.I. humanoid T.I.M., initially appears as the perfect aid. Programmed to serve only her, it begins to transform into a perilous obsession, determined to replace Paul and be with her. This looks much better than it sounds,...

Netflix’s new techno chiller T.I.M. follows a career-conscious woman called Abi as she moves into a new smart home with her seemingly not-very-trustworthy husband Paul. Even as she tries to make an impact with her new employer, he decides to gift her a “Technologically Integrated Manservant” (T.I.M.) to fuss around the house and help her out while she’s busy at work. T.I.M. might be the creepiest robot version of Alexa possible!
It’s not long before T.I.M. is taking it upon himself to do more than re-up groceries and sweep the floors, becoming obsessed with Abi and having a marked distaste for her formerly wayward husband. Things soon spiral out of control in the spotless smart home while Abi is distracted by the wild demands of her boss. Can T.I.M. be stopped from doing something deadly before it’s too late?...

There’s no denying that William Shakespeare is one of the most well-known and widely respected literary figures in history: a fountainhead for so much of storytelling to follow. Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel” is set in France in the late 1300s, and after a clangingly violent early battle scene, as well as a flashforward to the title duel, in which a pair of sworn rivals in heavy armor come at each other on horseback, each brandishing his lance a lot, the film looks like it might be a swords-and-blood-in-the-mud movie: one of those flashy brutal period spectaculars which Scott, the director of “Gladiator” and “The Duellists,” seems ideally suited to. But no. Despite a brief action interlude here or there,
Written by the unlikely trio of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Nicole Holofcener (it’s the first script that Damon and Affleck have collaborated on since “Good Will Hunting” planted them at the epicenter of the indie-film universe), the movie is trying for something. It’s based on a true story, and it tells that story in...

In AMC’s six-part revenge thriller “The Beast Must Die,” Cush Jumbo plays a mother who will stop at nothing to find her son’s killer. It’s her toughest role to date, but she welcomed the challenge.
“I was looking for something that would stretch me, and Gaby Chiappe’s script came across my desk and it was truly the best script that had passed over my lap, maybe ever,” she said. “I just couldn’t put it down, and I thought, ‘I have to do this’, so from the very beginning I was quite excited by it. So, yes, I was working hard, but I was enjoying it because I enjoy working hard.”

There are several reasons to tune into AMC's The Beast Must Die, and Jared Harris is one of them.
Harris has a knack for picking roles that dig into your soul, and George Rattery does that with aplomb.
For Harris, the role has been kicking around for six years when series executive producer Nathaniel Parker was staying with him in Los Angeles.
He had just optioned the book, claiming it was the best thriller he had ever read, and there was a juicy part for Harris if he was up for it. Harris read the book, but his interest really increased when Gaby Chiappe was set as the series creator and writer.
Harris said, "For me, that's the most important element. You want to feel as though you're in the hands of someone who has something to say and knows how to say it. They have a point of view,...

BritBox, the ITV and BBC joint-venture streamer, has announced that it is developing a second season of its UK drama series The Beast Must Die.
Produced by New Regency Television and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, BritBox said the first two episodes of the Jared Harris and Cush Jumbo drama have broken viewing records since premiering last week, but the service declined to disclose actual figures.
Vera writer Gaby Chiappe adapted the first season from the 1938 novel of the same name by Nicholas Blake, the nom de plume of poet Cecil Day-Lewis, father of Daniel Day-Lewis. It tells the story of a grieving mother who infiltrates the life of the man she believes killed her son.
Season 2 will be an original story told by Chiappe, which has been titled A Sword in my Bones. It will center on Billy Howle (The Serpent), who is poised to reprise his role as Detective Nigel Strangeways.

Exclusive: Left Bank Pictures was trailblazing among British producers in forging strong ties with Netflix through The Crown — and now the company is on the brink of landing its first series with Amazon.
Deadline can reveal that Left Bank is closing a deal to adapt Louise Penny’s bestselling Chief Inspector Gamache crime novels for the Jeff Bezos-owned streamer, in a series titled Three Pines.
Left Bank has attached The Tunnel and Law & Order: UK writer Emilia di Girolamo to pen the show, while The Crown and Humans director Sam Donovan will be the lead director, helming four episodes.
The title, Three Pines, is a reference to the fictional French Canadian village in which Chief Inspector Gamache operates. The French-speaking detective probes crimes in his Quebec community, digging up long-buried secrets and discovering his own ghosts. Among his quirks is speaking English in an English accent thanks to his Cambridge education.
