In the universe of James Bond, there are several tiers of villains. There are the primary villains, of course, the mad geniuses like Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Auric Goldfinger, Karl Stromberg, or Max Zorin, who plot to take down financial institutions, governments, military installations, or even the entire world. Sometimes it’s even all of the above Next, however, are the secondary adversaries who may support the main villain in their plans but are often either in it for their own financial gain (as opposed to world conquest), or because they’re in trouble, and this is their only way out. Think of Pussy Galore from Goldfinger, Milton Krest from Licence to Kill, General Ouromov from GoldenEye, Professor Dent from Dr. No… and the list goes on and on.
And then there are the henchmen who are there for one sole reason: to kill James Bond, or in the words of one famous villain,...

"Have you still not understood what that means, you amateurs? Damn." Dark Star Pictures has unveiled a new official US trailer for the strange German drama Enfant Terrible, a film about the infamous German filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder. This was originally set to premiere at last year's Cannes (watch last year's trailer), then played at a few other fall festivals anyway, and is now opening in the US this spring. The film examines the life and the impact of iconic German New Wave director, Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Fassbinder had a strong connection with Cannes after his drama Ali: Fear Eats The Soul, starring Mira and Salem, premiered in Competition in 1974 to critical acclaim, catapulting him onto the world stage. Oliver Masucci stars as Fassbinder, with a cast featuring Katja Riemann, Erdal Yildiz as the director's lover El Hedi ben Salem, Eva Mattes as actress Brigitte Mira, Antoine Monot Jr., Götz Otto...

"Everything is film. Everything." Screen Daily has debuted the first official trailer for Enfant Terrible, a brand new German biopic film about the iconic/infamous German New Wave filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder (whose birthday was just a few days ago). Filmed in Cologne and Munich over the summer of 2019, the film was supposed to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, but after the pandemic changed the plans, the distributor reset the film for release in cinemas in Germany this October. Oliver Masucci stars as Fassbinder, with a full ensemble cast featuring Katja Riemann, Erdal Yildiz as the director’s violent actor lover El Hedi ben Salem, Eva Mattes as actress Brigitte Mira, Antoine Monot Jr. as producer and actor Peter Berling, Götz Otto as Oscar-winning Us actor Jack Palance, and Alexander Scheer as Andy Warhol. The film is said to be about his entire life, with a focus on making films in the 70s.

"Let's make Earth great again!" Vertical Entertainment has released a new official Us trailer and a poster for the long-awaited, delayed-for-years sci-fi sequel Iron Sky: The Coming Race, which has been in the works since 2014. This film was released in Europe earlier in the year, and we posted two trailers back then for its initial debut. It's now opening in the Us in July, for those who still want to catch up with it. The plot is just as absurd as the first Iron Sky - the Nazis are back after lying dormant in a secret base on the Moon, now they're attacking with an army of ancient shapeshifting reptilians riding dinosaurs. Madness. Starring Julia Dietze, Götz Otto, Christopher Kirby, Tilo Brückner, Peta Sergeant, Stephanie Paul, and Udo Kier. This is one of those films that you know is going to be terrible, but you also just have to see it for yourself.

Pierce Brosnan's second outing as James Bond may not be Goldeneye strength, but Tomorrow Never Dies still has its moments...
For many, Tomorrow Never Dies is the forgotten middle child of the Brosnan era. Neither as loved as Goldeneye, nor reviled as Die Another Day, and it doesn’t have Christmas Jones. A muscular, accomplished outing that certainly deserves the prefix 'action' before any mention of 'thriller', Tomorrow Never Dies is the moment Brosnan hit his stride and simultaneously fell over. Great chases, hissable villains and one of the brightest of Bond’s flames in Paris Carver keep this viewer happy. The over-explosive climax and reluctance to experiment hint at trouble ahead.
The villain: I think Rupert’s gonna sue somebody… The antipodean qualities of megalomaniac media mogul Elliot Carver have only grown more pronounced over time. He’s a fine villain in his own right, with that fine...

'Downfall' movie: Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler 'Downfall' movie: Overlong and overwrought World War II drama lifted by several memorable performances Oliver Hirschbiegel's German box office hit Downfall / Der Untergang is a generally engrossing psychological-historical drama whose emotional charge is diluted by excessive length, an overabundance of characters, and a tendency to emphasize the more obvious aspects of the narrative. Several key performances – including Bruno Ganz's now iconic Adolf Hitler – help to lift Downfall above the level of myriad other World War II movies. Nazi Germany literally goes under In Downfall, which by the end of 2004 had been seen by more than 4.5 million German moviegoers, Nazi Germany is about to lose the war. In his underground bunker, Adolf Hitler (Bruno Ganz) grows increasingly out of touch with reality as he sees his dream of Deutschland über alles go kaput. Some of those under his command are equally incapable of thinking coherently.

Slamdance winner won the Max Ophüls Prize at the weekend, granting it a slot in the Berlinale.
Jakob Lass’ feature debut Love Steaks, this year’s winner of the Slamdance Trailer Competition Grand Prix, was awarded the prestigious Max Ophüls Prize in Saarbrücken at the weekend.
The film, which is in the Lola nomination long list, will therefore also have a screening slot in the Berlinale’s Perspektive Deutsches Kino on Feb 16.
Billed by the filmmakers as “the world’s first Fogma film” (with the obligatory manifesto), Love Steaks had its world premiere at Munich Filmfest last June where it won all four prizes of the Young German Cinema Support Awards.
This included for Best Screenplay, despite the film not having had any written dialogue and featuring the staff and guests at a wellness hotel on the Baltic Sea coast playing themselves alongside newcomers Lana Cooper and Franz Rogowski..

*spoiler alert! Director: Timo Vuorensola. Writers: Johanna Sinisalo (original story), Jarmo Puskala, Michael Kalesniko, and Timo Vuorensola. Cast: Julia Dietze, Christopher Kirby and Götz Otto. Nazis have fled to space! Who would have thunk it? In the movie Iron Sky, the last remaining survivors from this regiment fled to the dark side of the moon and spent the last 70 or so years plotting to take over Earth again. But nobody told them that World War II is over and life has gone forwards ... or maybe not. But now they want to come back, with no thanks to astronaut James Washington (Christopher Kirby). He found their moon base and that does not bode well for humanity. When this space explorer gets captured, the Nazi's plans are accelerated. That leads to some humourous nods to B movie culture and retro-a-go-go. The music is what sells this product. The driving magic by Slovenian...

Udo Kier has worked with the likes of Lars Von Trier, Gus Van Sant, and Rob Zombie. He’s portrayed Dracula (and assorted other vamps), Hitler, and Jekyll and is still going strong after over three decades of acting, his latest role being in Nazis-on-the-moon horror-comedy Iron Sky.
Some would say it’s his piercing blue eyes and thick accent that cement Kier’s presence as deliciously memorable regardless of the size of the part. I would also say it's his unique presence, the way he moves with such elegance and a dash of old world, unearthly sexuality and a twinkle of humor.
This time around we find Kier on the dark side of the moon playing Nazi leader Wolfgang Kortzfleisch. The movie takes place in 2018, in a world with a political landscape much like our own, filled with propaganda, global infighting, and a race for new fuel. Little does...

I guess even schlocky sci-fi counts as sci-fi, right? Anyways, here’s the latest U.S. trailer for director Timo Vuorensola’s “Iron Sky”, which dares to posit the question, “What would happen if Nazis, who have been living on the moon for the last 70 years, decided to launch a new invasion of Earth?” Apparently a Sarah Palin clone saves the day, though I’m sure that won’t prevent the film from mocking her to death in the process anyway. In the last moments of World War II, a secret Nazi space program evaded destruction by fleeing to the Dark Side of the Moon. During 70 years of utter secrecy, the Nazis construct a gigantic space fortress with a massive armada of flying saucers…and now they’re coming back to claim Earth for their own. In case you haven’t caught Timo Vuorensola’s “Iron Sky” while it was playing the festival circuit the last year and change, the film is finally arriving in theaters Stateside this Summer. That is, if enough of you in a specific city request it. To do so, you can head over to Tugg and make your voices known. Who knows, it might happen. Though you’ll probably find it easier to just buy the DVD/Blu-ray and watch it in the comforts of your own living room. Hey, it’s up to you. We've seen about four trailers for the sci-fi moon Nazi invasion film Iron Sky. This movie sounded really cool at first, I loved the initial concept, and liked the first couple of teaser trailers. I'm not sure if the comedy aspect they've thrown into it will work. I hoped the film would have more of a serious tone, like what we saw in the first couple of teaser trailers. There are movie situations like this where serious is funnier than comedy. I hope the movie turns out to be good though! I'm rooting for it.

Director: Timo Vuorensola. Review: Adam Wing. As far as killer concepts go, you don’t get much better than this. The idea has been knocking around for years, but it took the combined efforts of Finland, Germany and Australia to finally get it off the ground. Produced in collaboration with online film enthusiasts - who were invited to share their ideas and input - Iron Sky is the latest in a new wave of ‘participatory cinema’. Too many cooks can spoil the broth though, and if Snakes on a Plane proved one thing, it’s that you need more than a kick-ass trailer to keep your audience enthused. Iron Sky has a killer concept, but can the filmmakers stretch an ingenious concept over 90 minutes and milk it for all its worth? In the last moments of World War II, a secret Nazi space programme made a daring escape into outer space.

When you hear “Space Nazis,” certain episodes of Star Trek come into mind. A popular theme in works of science fiction, it is a phrase coined with the idea of Nazis settling on the Moon after their defeat in World War II, not to mention it being a popular conspiracy theory.
Iron Sky is the latest reimagining of this theory.
The film is set in 2018. James Washington (Christopher Kirkby), a black male model, is sent to the Moon in a bid to help the President (Stephanie Paul) be re-elected. He is captured by the Nazis, who have been based on the dark side of the moon since 1945, and subsequently becomes involved in their plan to invade and rule Earth.

Moon Nazis are coming. Yes, that’s right; Nazis from the moon will be invading select UK cinemas from Wednesday 23rd May. That is the premise, at least, of Iron Sky, a partially fan-funded space-war b-movie that is every bit as absurd as it sounds. When the initial directorial choice, Terrence Malick, dropped out of the project over “creative differences” Finnish black metal singer Timo Vuorensola stepped in to take the reins. The outcome is a film as daft and factually questionable as the previous sentence, but enjoyable enough in its own silly way.
Though last summer Michael Bay theorised that the dark side of the moon concealed a gigantic transforming robot, Iron Sky reveals the far more obvious, logical truth: with their plans...

Iron Sky offers up an intriguing Nazis on the Moon concept, but can it live up to its batty premise? James finds out...
For the last few years there’s been something of a buzz building around the Finnish/German/Australian co-production, Iron Sky. Famously pitched to investors at Cannes in 2008 off the back of an impressive VFX demo reel, director Timo Vuorensola’s sci-fi comedy about Nazis on the Moon finally went into production in late 2010.
With the addition of cult movie icon Udo Kier to the cast and several strong early trailers, anticipation was high that the finished film just might deliver on its gloriously bonkers premise. Unfortunately, that doesn’t really happen and - despite its strong high concept - Iron Sky never seems entirely sure of what type of film it’s trying to be.

If you're excited to see see moon Nazis invade earth, here's the first four minutes of the sci-fi film Iron Sky. The clip shows a lunar expedition that surprisingly comes across a massive Nazi base on the moon. From what I've seen in previous trailer, the movie looks like a lot of fun. The film recently screened at SXSW, and unfortunately the reviews I've seen haven't been kind. As outrageous and crazy this film looks like it could be, according to some of the reviews I've read, it doesn't take it to the level of lunacy that it should. I'll still give the film a chance, as the premise is so ridiculous.
Here's the story breakdown:
Towards the end of World War II the Nazi scientists made a significant breakthrough in anti-gravity. From a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late ‘45 to found...

Iron Sky had it’s world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival a month ago and last weekend it had its Us premiere at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

In the wake of the 2012 Berlin Film Festival, THR has just reported that the “Finnish Nazis-from-space” film, Iron Sky, will get a U.S. premiere this upcoming weekend at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Entertainment One obtained the distributing rights for the film, which had its world premiere at Berlin.
Directed by Timo Vuorensola, the projected actually started online where it obtained crowdsourced financing. It enlisted Internet fans at each stage of production to help design the uniforms for the Nazis in space. It stars Julia Dietze, Gotz Otto, Christopher Kirby and Udo Kier. I haven’t really seen many films that enlist the help of its projected audience, so the whole idea of the film is intriguing. Plus, who doesn’t love the whole concept of Nazis in space?
And if you need more convincing about the film’s plot, its been described as the “Citizen Kane of Nazis-in-Space movies.

It features Udo Kier as the Moon Führer, a parody of Sarah Palin as the President of the United States, and Nazis that operate out of a swastika shaped base on the dark side of the moon. I may be slightly overselling my excitement, but I really do think this looks fun. It’s hard to guess how well it will play as a feature-length film, but it works as a two-minute trailer designed to make me want to see it.
