Tom Sandoval Ditches Lawyer In Big Case
It is not a good time to be Tom Sandoval. First, he and Tom Schwartz announced the closing of their restaurant bar lounge, Schwartz & Sandy’s. This was a passion project and cost them an immense amount of money. His mother even invested $250K into the project. When it took forever to open and there was a plethora of questions surrounding the bar, fans wondered if she would get her money back. They were more concerned about his mother than him. It did open but faced...

Before Tom Cruise was driving motorcycles off cliffs, clinging to planes, and fighting bad guys atop moving trains in the name of "Mission: Impossible," the franchise had its humble beginnings in the form of a very '60s CBS series. The original "Mission: Impossible" was a spy series with a rotating cast of characters created by Bruce Gellar, who died in a plane crash just five years after the show ended. Several key cast members have passed away in the years since then, including Peter Graves, Greg Morris, Martin Landau, Steven Hill, and, of course, Leonard Nimoy.
"Mission: Impossible" was a huge success when it aired, winning 10 Emmys throughout its seven-season run and producing 171 episodes. The show inspired an '80s revival series, but "Mission: Impossible" really took off when Cruise (and Brian De Palma) got a hold of the franchise in 1996. The near-superhuman character Ethan Hunt was created for the movies,...

Are Tom Sandoval’s lawsuits taking down his second restaurant bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s? The Vanderpump Rules star is either on the receiving end or, more recently, dishing them out. So, how is that impacting his businesses? Keep reading for more details.
Tom Sandoval’s Lawsuits Taking Down Schwartz & Sandy’s?
When ‘Scandoval’ hit, that was an absolute disaster for Tom Sandoval and his two bars. He co-owns TomTom with Tom Schwartz and Lisa Vanderpump. Plus, he had just opened Schwartz & Sandy’s with Schwartz and Greg Morris. Unfortunately, Sandoval having an affair with Rachel Leviss was extremely destructive and caused him to have to take a big step back. Since many fans were on his ex-girlfriend, Ariana Madix’s side, they boycotted his restaurants. TomTom had to turn off their Yelp reviews and people were writing awful comments in the bathroom at Schwartz & Sandy’s. Statements had to be...

Is Vanderpump Rules’ infamous bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s closing down after just two years of being open? It appears that this is the word going around town. So, what is actually being said about the restaurant bar owned by Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz? Read on for more details.
Vpr Bar Schwartz & Sandy’s Closing After Just 2 Years?
Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz were so excited to branch off from TomTom and have their own bar. They shared this in Season 9 with Lisa Vanderpump and had found a partner to work with. Unfortunately, there was a lot of tension and things were being held up. That caused a lot of money to be spent and it took forever for their bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s to finally open. It, in some ways, cost Schwartz his marriage to Katie Maloney who endlessly butted heads with Sandoval. She not only hated the name...

When "The Dick Van Dyke Show" kicked off its third season on September 25, 1963, the United States was in the midst of a societal transformation. The Civil Rights Movement's Birmingham campaign, which sought to desegregate the Alabama city's downtown businesses, was in full swing, and the images being transmitted to Americans' living rooms were ugly as hell. Birmingham's Commissioner of Public Safety Eugene "Bull" Connor countered peaceful protests with disgusting brutality. He ordered law enforcement to blast marching students with fire hoses; these children were also attacked by police dogs and the equally savage white locals, who, when they felt Connor's violent tactics weren't going far enough, bombed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's headquarters.
And then, one week prior to the show's season debut, a pack of racists killed four little girls when they blew up the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church.

Vanderpump Rules season 11 faced issues at Schwartz & Sandy's due to the fallout from Tom Sandoval's scandal, leading to a ban on filming at the restaurant. Tom Sandoval felt "pushed out" of Schwartz & Sandy's, with his business partner, Tom Schwartz, taking on a more active role. Despite Tom's diminished role, there is hope that he can positively promote the restaurant in the future as his reputation improves.
Vanderpump Rules season 11 has been off to an interesting start, and with Tom Sandoval having taken time away from Los Angeles after the scandal, Tom Schwartz was left with a shocking decision about their joint business venture, Schwartz & Sandy's. While Tom was filming Special Forces: World's Toughest Test season 2 after the fallout from Scandoval rocked his friend group, his business partner was left to clean up the catastrophic mess he'd left behind. Since 2021, Giancarlo Esposito has held the distinction of being the most-recognized Black performer in the history of the Best Drama Supporting Actor Emmy category. After coming up short on all of his past nominations for “Breaking Bad” (2012), “Better Call Saul” (2019-2020) and “The Mandalorian” (2021), he now has a shot at finally triumphing on his potential third “Better Call Saul” bid. This would not only finally make the six-season AMC drama an Emmy-winning show, but would also make Esposito his category’s first Black winner.
Esposito’s appearance in the final season of “Better Call Saul” serves as the conclusion of a performance that had begun 13 years earlier on “Breaking Bad.” Although the newer series mainly functioned as a backstory for Jimmy “Saul Goodman” McGill (Bob Odenkirk), it naturally fleshed out many more featured “Breaking Bad” characters, including Esposito’s Gus Fring. In his last moments on screen, the narcotics kingpin...

Covert operations, shadowy government agencies, foreign intrigue, technological wizardry, masters of disguises, heist-like action, self-destructing tapes — Mission: Impossible had it all. Oh, and that iconic theme song, of course. Mission: Impossible ran for seven seasons and 172 episodes on CBS before ending 50 years ago, on March 30, 1973. Steven Hill, Barbara Bain, Greg Morris, and Peter Lupus made up the original Impossible Mission Force — whose missions, should they choose to accept them, involved retrieving sensitive information, recovering ill-gotten goods, neutralizing targets, and averting geopolitical crises. As the show progressed, the faces of the Imf changed — and not just because of the latex masks the operatives so often wore for disguises. Peter Graves took over as Imf leader, and Martin Landau, Leonard Nimoy, Lesley Ann Warren, and Sam Elliott joined the elite team full-time. With the Mission: Impossible finale a half century behind us — and the next installment of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible...

“My preoccupation with animals is an open secret,” wrote Betty White in her 2011 book “Betty & Friends: My Life at the Zoo.” The legendary star, who died this week at age 99, was known for more than just her TV and film work. She was a self proclaimed “zoo nut” who spent her life advocating for animal welfare.
White’s parents were animal lovers and she grew up going to zoos regularly. As her profile as an actor and TV personality grew, it became natural for her to use her platform to spotlight that passion.
In 1971, White created and hosted “The Pet Set,” a syndicated series that featured White interviewing celebrity guests including Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Burnett and Doris Day, and their pets and animal trainer Ralph Helfer. She produced the series herself along with her husband, longtime “Password” host Allen Ludden. “The Pet Set” ran for 39 half-hour episodes, and was...

Alan Canter, whose family deli has been a late night fixture in Hollywood for decades, has died. He passed Friday of natural causes, according to his family.
Relatives wrote a tribute on Facebook: “He kept his family legacy alive and built and L.A. landmark. He worked 18-hour shifts and took pride in hand-cutting each fruit cup. He taught his children how to run this business just as his father taught him. We are deeply saddened by this loss.”
Al Canter’s father, Ben Canter, and his brothers opened the original deli in 1931 in Boyle Heights. In 1953, Canter’s moved into its North Fairfax Avenue home, and became one of the city’s first 24-hour restaurants, a favored haunt for club goers, stars, rockers and just the merely hungry. Four of our Emmy Experts and one Top 24 User are predicting Jeffrey Wright (‘Westworld’) to win Best Drama Supporting Actor. If they are correct, Wright would be the first black champ of the one remaining acting category that has never had one.
After Viola Davis’ drama lead actress victory in 2015 for “How to Get Away with Murder,” Best Drama Supporting Actor is the only existing category that has yet to award a black performer. Eleven black actors have been nominated, including Wright last year; the others are Greg Morris (“Mission: Impossible,” 1969, 1970, 1972), Taurean Blacque (“Hill Street Blues,” 1982), James Earl Jones (“Under One Roof,” 1995), Eriq La Salle (“ER,” 1995, 1997, 1998), James McDaniel (“NYPD Blue,” 1996), Steve Harris (“The Practice,” 1999, 2000), Dule Hill (“The West Wing,” 2002), Andre Braugher (“Men of a Certain Age,” 2010, 2011), Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad,” 2012) and Ron Cephas Jones (“This Is Us,” 2017).

Oscar-winning actor Martin Landau has passed away at age 89. Landau had originally intended to be a cartoonist before studying at the esteemed Actors Studio in New York City. With his intense looks and persona, he began to be noticed by Hollywood studios. In 1959 he was cast as James Mason's gay henchman in Alfred Hitchcock's classic "North by Northwest". It was Landau who suggested playing the role as a not-so-closeted homosexual, a rather daring strategy for the era. The result made Landau standout in a cast of heavyweights that included Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and Leo G. Carroll. Roles in epic films such as "Cleopatra" and "The Greatest Story Ever Told" followed. Landau also appeared regularly on popular TV programs including "The Twilight Zone", "The Untouchables", "I Spy", "The Wild,...

Before 1996, "Mission: Impossible" was a long-since-cancelled TV spy series, beloved by Boomers but forgotten by anyone younger. Today, of course, it's a popular Tom Cruise movie franchise, known for its twisty plotting and jaw-dropping stunt sequences, whose five installments to date have grossed $935 million in North America and $2.8 billion worldwide.
The change came, of course, with the release of Cruise's first "Mission: Impossible" 20 years ago, on May 22, 1996. Since then, Brian De Palma's clever, convoluted blockbuster has been watched and copied plenty. And while some of the spy franchise's secrets have become widely known, there are still some that have remained classified -- until now.
1. "Mission: Impossible" marked Cruise's debut as a producer. In a deal that would become his then-customary contract, he took no money up front but negotiated a lucrative percentage of the theatrical and video gross profits, reportedly as high as 22 percent. Cruise reportedly pocketed an estimated $70 million for the first "Mission.

The Wasteland:
Television is a gold goose that lays scrambled eggs;
and it is futile and probably fatal to beat it for not laying caviar.
Lee Loevinger
When people argue over the quality of television programming, both sides — it’s addictive crap v. underappreciated populist art — seem to forget one of the essentials about commercial TV. By definition, it is not a public service. It is not commercial TV’s job to enlighten, inform, educate, elevate, inspire, or offer insight. Frankly, it’s not even commercial TV’s job to entertain. Bottom line: its purpose is simply to deliver as many sets of eyes to advertisers as possible. As it happens, it tends to do this by offering various forms of entertainment, and occasionally by offering content that does enlighten, inform, etc., but a cynic would make the point that if TV could do the same job televising fish aimlessly swimming around an aquarium,...

Blu-ray & DVD Release Date: Dec. 11, 2012
Price: DVD $359.99
Studio: CBS/Paramount
One of the great all-time Cold War spy drama-action TV shows arrives in the 56-disc set Mission: Impossible: The Complete Television Collection.
We ain’t talking about the Tom Cruise Mission: Impossible movies starring Tom Cruise (like last year’s Ghost Protocol), which are quite fine in their own right, but rather the original one. Or, as purists might put it, the real one!
Highlighted by a newly-produced bunch of bonus features, the set includes all seven seasons of the original series which ran from 1966 through 1973, along with its 1988-90 revival, in cool-looking dynamite-shaped packaging. The original series minus the revival was previously issued on DVD back in 2009 and is still available.
The original action drama Mission: Impossible follows the adventures of the skilled I.M.F. (Impossible Missions Force) team who carry out highly dangerous and mysterious tasks for the government.

After his electrifying performance as Blacula (1972), the great William Marshall was briefly considered a worthy successor to Christopher Lee's vampire king. A respected Shakespearean actor with an impressive theatre background, he was set to become a major horror star of the seventies, but like his fellow stage actor Robert Quarry, who achieved the same status as Count Yorga, his film career faded rapidly after the genre went through a radical re-think following the commercial success of The Exorcist (1973).
Marshall remained in New York to train in as an actor and director in Grand Opera and Shakespeare, although he had to support himself in a variety of jobs before making his professional stage debut. At 6ft 5inches, he was an impressively built, handsome, strong-featured actor with a booming bass baritone voice to match his towering presence. Not surprisingly, he quickly built up a formidable reputation as America's finest Shakespearean actor,...

The many facets of his life are covered in the documentary directed by Michelle Esrick.
We had a chance to sit down for an extensive interview with Wavy Gravy and Michelle Esrick when the movie premiered at 2009’s Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.
This first part has him discuss getting drunk with Jack Kerouac (On the Road) and dropping acid at the Electric Acid Kool-Aid Tests. Ahhh good times.
Now we get...

Chicago – With the release of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” there is a reminder of all the films in cinema history that dared to challenge something, within an existence that sometimes has trouble getting out of bed. Here are ten such films, filling in the holes of and taking on the mantle of (Blank) vs. (Blank).

This weeper did take on some pretty lofty issues in a post feminist society where gender roles – while loosening up considerably – were still pretty rigid. Meryl Streep does her usual scene stealing as Joanna Kramer, a frustrated wife and mother who shakes up circumstances by leaving her husband Ted (Dustin Hoffman) and their young boy Billy (Justin Henry).
Ted is forced to care for a child he’s barely known, and goes through a transition of his own. This Academy Award winning Best Picture...

I never really thought about it before, but there are few really good trilogies out there. Sometimes when you get that second film, you feel it could all be wrapped nicely with one more great movie. Yet how many times have we all greatly anticipated a part three only to be let down and left disgusted? The Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men and several other trilogies all had a great beginning and middle, yet ended up fizzling out in the end. Why is that? Did the directors, producers and writers even have an end game? Or where they making things up as they went along?I started to really look at the many trilogies out there and noticed how most of them had terrible conclusions. I'm talking stories told in three films, not a continuing series that goes on and on showing no signs of ending. Some of the...

Greg Morris’ son Phil Morris, is 51 years old today. The Black Dynamite co-star has been working consistently since 1980, but hasn’t ever quite had the opportunity to really shine, relegated to mostly secondary, peripheral roles in both TV and film. His IMDb resume shows 2 films in post-production, but neither looks to be anything coming soon to a theatre near you. He even starred in a web series last year called Hot Sluts! The plotline reads, “Endless cleavage, bitchy girl fights, and an 800-pound disco ball. All in one slutty nightclub.” Well then… I guess a brotha’s gotta work, right?
Marguerite Annie Johnson, aka Maya Angelou, is 82 years old today! Although she’s known more for her activism and written words, Ms Angelou has appeared on screen – most recently in 2006, in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion (There aren’t many black actress in Hollywood who haven’t appeared...

Peter Graves, best known for his role in the 60s TV spy drama Mission: Impossible as well as the Airplane! films, has died.
Graves passed away on Sunday, just a few days before his 84th birthday, outside his home in Los Angeles, his publicist, Sandy Brokaw, said. Graves was returning from brunch with his wife of nearly 60 years and his family when he had what Graves's doctor believed was a heart attack, Brokaw said.
Graves first gained attention with the 1950s TV series Fury, but remained best known for the role of Jim Phelps, leader of a gang of special agents who battled evil conspirators in TV's Mission: Impossible.
Graves appeared in dozens of films and a handful of television shows in a career of nearly 60 years.

Hunger (Criterion) Harrowing true story of imprisoned Ira member Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) and his 1981 hunger strike protesting the British government’s refusal to recognize him, and other Ira members as political prisoners. Director Steve McQueen delivers the story with true filmmaking panache, mixing startling imagery that blends both stunning beauty and stomach-churning horror. Fassbender is absolutely brilliant in the lead. Not for the faint-of-heart, but not to be missed or, particularly, ignored. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Interviews with McQueen and Fassbender; Short documentary; 1981 episode of BBC series “Panorama” that covers the Ira hunger strike; Trailer. Widescreen. DTS-hd audio on Blu-ray.
Adam (20th Century Fox) Quirky romantic comedy about an eccentric, borderline Asperger’s Syndrome, astronomy buff (Hugh Dancy) who is drawn out of his self-imposed shell by a beautiful and sympathetic neighbor (Rose Byrne). Charming film with engaging performances by the two leads,...

The concept behind Mission: Impossible had never been attempted on television before and the CBS series about a covert government operation taking on; well, impossible, cases became a smash hit. Guided by the steady Peter Graves, Greg Morris and Peter Lupis, the series received awards, acclaim and most importantly, ratings. Early on, the show was also headlined by Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, but they left after three seasons. In stepped Leonard Nimoy, Lesley Ann Warren, and Sam Elliot for the next two seasons but by spring 1971, the show was beginning to feel tired.
Season six, airing 1971-1972, was the season that should not have been. Paramount Pictures wanted the show canceled and placed into profitable reruns but CBS saw ratings upticks at the end of season five and wanted the series back. Nimoy wanted out, saying he was bored. It was time to change everything up.
