Season 3 of “Yellowjackets” brings more ’90s tunes, including songs from Rancid, Bush, Cake, Fiona Apple and Bikini Kill, as well as some tracks from the ’70s and ’80s.
In one memorable scene, Misty Quigley (Christina Ricci) hits up a dive bar wearing the late Natalie (Juliette Lewis)’s favorite jacket, where she pounds several shots and listens to rock classics like The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb.”
Since both Misty and her friend Walter (Elijah Wood) are big Broadway fans, we might also expect some show tunes to pop up.
Here’s all the music from Season 3, a list we’ll be updating as new episodes drop. And, of course, that creepy main title theme is “No Return” by Craig Wedren and Anna Waronker.
Season 3.01: “It Girl” “Maxwell Murder,” Rancid (1995) “Morning Has Broken,” Cat Stevens (1971) “Bumps,” Imur (2017) “I Think We’re Alone Now,” Tiffany (1987) “Glycerine,” Bush (1994) “Cherry Bomb,” The Runaways (1976) “I’m Gonna Blow,...

After a nearly two-year hiatus from Showtime, Yellowjackets has finally returned for Season 3. Critics are already praising the series, saying it’s off to a “bloody good start” with even more intriguing mysteries to unravel.
As of Friday, the darkly comedic drama series has a generally favorable Metacritic score of 63 based on 14 reviews. Of those, eight are positive, six are mixed, and none are negative. On Rotten Tomatoes, where reviews are classified simply as positive or negative as opposed to Metacritic’s sliding scale from 0 to 100, Season 3 is rated 92 percent fresh based on 12 reviews. That score disparity suggests that most responses are favorable but shy of the second season: 77 on Metacritic and 94 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
Among those critics who are impressed is Kelly Lawler (USA Today), who says, “The new episodes have happily dispensed with problematic Season 2 storylines and focused on what makes the show work: its cast,...

At one point in “Yellowjackets” Season 2, the grown women who once trauma-bonded in the wilderness are enjoying a rare moment of joy. Drunk off each other’s company (and quite a bit of tequila), they can’t help feeling the camaraderie that they once had as teammates, maybe even before a plane crash derailed their lives.

With the Yellowjackets officially out of the cold, the soccer team’s future looks a little brighter. However, whether Coach Ben started the fire is still very much on the table. Meanwhile, in the present day, Natalie’s funeral provided a moment of solace. However, the murder investigation into Shauna and Jeff is unlikely to go away anytime soon. It does not help that Callie threw guts on the other girls in school either. Let’s see what’s up for the girl’s soccer team in “Dislocation” and what potentially disturbing relations are happening.

‘Yellowjackets’ Review: Showtime Hit Struggles to Find Its Footing in Intriguing but Wobbly Season 3

On Showtime’s Yellowjackets, there are (at least) two versions of every story. We’re reminded of this minutes into the third season premiere. Out among the group, Van (Liv Hewson) cheerfully recounts their journey as a heroic one, filled with sacrifice but also rewards from “the wilderness.”
At the same time, alone with her diary, Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) recaps the same events in much more cynical terms: “A bunch of teenage girls got stranded in the wilderness and then went completely fucking nuts.”
Neither feels totally right and neither feels totally wrong — just as describing this series as simply a mystery-box thriller or a character-driven drama, a tale about girls in the woods or one about women grappling with past trauma, wouldn’t quite fit either.
At its best, as in the show’s propulsive debut season, this duality is what makes Yellowjackets so deliciously rich. When it’s less successful,...

In the Canadian wilderness where the namesake soccer team of “Yellowjackets” has been stranded for months, it’s finally summer. Snow has melted; there are leaves on the trees; the abandoned cabin that burned to ash in the Season 2 finale has given way to a makeshift village of wooden lean-tos. For a group so exposed to the natural world, the change in weather marks a profound shift in the status quo, and for fans of the Showtime drama, the fresh air is both literal and metaphorical.
In the modern-day timeline that takes up half of the series’ screen time, eerily little has changed. Season 2 culminated in the first major death among the adult survivors of a 1990s plane crash and the extended isolation that followed. Just as the younger version of Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) was appointed leader of her impromptu tribe, her older self (Juliette Lewis) fell victim to a syringe of fentanyl.

In an episode from the third season of Yellowjackets, two characters cook a meal while singing and dancing along to Cass Elliot’s 1969 hit “Make Your Own Kind of Music.” For TV fanatics, it’s a song that will forever be associated with the second-season premiere of Lost, where Elliot’s soaring vocals accompanied our first glimpse inside the mysterious Dharma Initiative hatch. This soundtrack choice does not feel coincidental, since Yellowjackets is another show about characters struggling to survive in a hostile, possibly mystical, wilderness after a plane crash,...

When season 1 of "Yellowjackets" debuted back in 2021, few predicted what a phenomenon the series would become, including the show's creators, Ashley Lyle, and Bart Nickerson. For the uninitiated, "Yellowjackets" tracks characters across two timelines: the first, in 1996 after the nationals-bound Wiskayok Yellowjackets women's soccer team's plane crash lands them in the Canadian wilderness and thrusts them into barbaric survival including cannibalism, and in our current day 25 years later where the now-adult survivors are still plagued by whatever it was that happened to them (or what they did) all those years ago.
While the characters all have their own individual plotlines across both timelines, the show is at its best when it's operating as an ensemble cast. Fortunately, after the heartbreaking end to season 2, our girls are leaning on each other more than ever, but the scars of psychological trauma and enduring legitimate survival horror aren't fading anytime soon. If anything,...

Like Apple TV+’s Severance, the latest season of Paramount+/Showtime’s Yellowjackets was delayed by the WGA/SAG strikes, meaning it is being met with a lot of anticipation from fans and a high bar to live up to. Fans will be delighted to find that this season lives up to and possibly even exceeds the quality of the first two, offering all the darkly compelling drama we have come to love and more.
Yellowjackets Season 3 Review
Season 3 of Yellowjackets continues to follow the survivors and their adult counterparts as they deal with the aftermath of two major events: the burning of the cabin for the teenagers, and the death of Natalie (Juliette Lewis) for the adults. These episodes provide an enormously satisfying payoff to all of the build-up that the last season offered, taking the story in exciting, often unexpected new directions.

Mirroring the pilot episode, Season 3 of Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” starts out by following a dark-haired teenage girl as she runs through the woods to escape unseen pursuers. But unlike the enigmatic introduction to the series, by the time viewers reach this scene in Season 3, the grisly rules of the hunt have become disturbingly clear: Kill or be eaten.
Regrettably, that rule still remains one of the few clear things about the darkly delightful “Yellowjackets,” as Season 3 continues the series’ frustrating habit of spooling out seemingly endless new mysteries without providing answers to the creepy mythology at its core.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson and originally premiering in 2021, “Yellowjackets” may be best described as a ’90s survival drama and modern-day mystery stacked together in a trenchcoat. The series follows the members of a 1996 high school girls’ soccer team — mascot, the Yellowjackets — on their way to Nationals. But the girls...

Christina Ricci teased an “incredibly high body count” in Season 3 of “Yellowjackets,” which premieres Feb. 14 on Paramount+ with Showtime.
The actress, who plays Adult Misty Quigley on the series, also promised “a lot of people get eaten” in the ’90s timeline in which the teenage versions of the characters who are stranded in the wilderness resort to cannibalism to stay alive.
Ricci told Kelly Clarkson about the big events in the Season 2 finale, including the fact that [Spoiler] Misty accidentally killed her best friend Natalie (Juliette Lewis), telling Clarkson it’s “her own damn fault” she wasn’t caught up with the series.
“This season is really fun. There’s, like, an incredibly high body count,” Ricci said. “There’s a lot of people [who] get eaten, yeah, more than once.”
She added that there will be a lot of answers to some of the show’s mysteries and that the younger cast storyline ins “nonstop craziness.

Christina Ricci believes in ghosts … at least enough to take precaution when she’s filming in an abandoned mental asylum, the actress said this week.
“I always say about a lot of things that I don’t know, so I’m open to it,” Ricci said during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “I don’t have any personal experience, but … I’ve had a few things that either were manifestations of my anxiety or were ghosts.”
When Clarkson asked the Yellowjackets star to elaborate, Ricci explained that she’s worked on several projects that filmed in a defunct “mental asylum” in Vancouver — “it’s this whole compound,” she said, “and anytime you shoot there, there’s like five other productions also shooting there.”
Ricci filmed scenes from 2001’s Prozac Nation at the site, and also returned for Yellowjackets. In the former, Ricci said she “had left something upstairs where we’d been shooting,...

By the end of Yellowjackets Season 2, things were looking bleak for the girls. In 1998 their coach burned down their only shelter, leaving them freezing in the wilderness – in 2021, Nat (Juliette Lewis) died and Lottie (Simone Kessell) was committed. But in Season 3, things are looking up: in the past, it’s the Summer Solstice and the gang are thriving under young Nat’s (Sophie Thatcher) leadership. In the present, Van (Lauren Ambrose), Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Misty (Christina Ricci) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress) find some semblance of normalcy. But, as is the Yellowjackets way, the calm is short-lived – and by Episode 4, bodies are piling up again.
Season 3’s biggest challenge is keeping the lives of the women in the present intersecting. Without blackmailers, an unravelling Nat or a dead body in need of disposal, there’s little to keep them together – as we’re regularly reminded,...

Showtime has released a sneak peek at the “Yellowjackets” Season 3 premiere that doubles as a refresher on the story so far.
In the clip below, Van recounts the triumphant tale to her fellow survivors during a summer solstice celebration, while Shauna shares her traumatic perspective on the events in isolation.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, “Yellowjackets” is the saga of a team of high school soccer players who become the survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later.
In season three, as summer arrives, the Yellowjackets face a fragile victory—the brutal winter that nearly claimed them is finally behind them, but distrust in leadership and tension within the team jeopardize their chances of being rescued. In the present,...

Misty, the odd one out of the oddball group, suffered another trauma in the second installment’s finale, which aired in May of 2023. The survivors were gathered at unhinged guru Lottie’s (Simone Kessell) spirituality retreat and things spiraled into them recreating their teenage ritualistic hunt. The prey was stay-at-home mom...

Christina Ricci doesn’t want her 10-year-old son to be a child actor, but not for the reason some might think.
The actress made a recent appearance on the Today show, where she was asked if her son, Freddie, would ever follow in her acting footsteps.

However, per Ricci, he likely won’t be landing any roles anytime soon for one logistical reason.
“I’m like, ‘Who’s going to take you, like I have to work.’ So, no. Because I’m like, ‘Who’s going to go with you? I can’t go with you,...
