really liked it
The author has some whack opinions about some of the tracks on Let it Bleed. Whack opinions and omissions: failure to even mention the ragged riff that drives "Monkey Man" -- and then saying the song was too slickly produced; dissing the fiddle solo on "Country Honk" and not appreciating the propulsive force achieved on acoustic guitars is totally bogus. Remarkably well-written and insightful. Among other things, this is a great sociological history of Boston in 1974 at the height of its shockingly intense massive resistance movement.
SPOILER ALERT
I could have done without the superhuman feats of strength and derring do, but those are more or less essential features of the thriller/crime genre. If the revenge parts of the book had been a bit more subtle, say, this book would be in the same class
