What are your favorite crime fiction/thriller books that you think we all would love to read? What impressed you about the books? What made you add the book/books to your favorites?

This thread is empty - where are the crime thriller members hiding?! LOL

Here I will help kickstart this thread. Here are a few books that I have enjoyed in the last few years. Some of them are in series and I will mark the book if it is in a series.

Rules of Prey (series and it seems to be ongoing)
Maniacal (series)
Last Look (series)
Whiskey Sour (series)
Backwoods Ripper
Mr. Mercedes (trilogy)
A Perfect Evil (series)
Black Diamond Death (series)
Heartsick (series)
The Fourth Monkey (trilogy)

I am actually on a roll right now trying to finish up the Jack Daniels series by author J.A. Konrath - I just finished book #10 and will be stepping into book #11 here soon. This series is really fun as there is humorous quips throughout the books as one character is funny as hell.

Ian (RebelGeek) Seal (rebel-geek) | 409 comments I’m partial to the Hannibal series by Thomas Harris.
I’ve watched a lot more than read this genre.

I need to read that at some point in time. I have watched the movies, but that is about it.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 294 comments I'll be honest, it's been a while since I've read a good crime book. I have a few interesting books on my Kindle I should start reading.

What books do you have, Justin? I am curious. :)

I can't recommend the TV series Hannibal starring Mads Mikkelson enough! It is top notch & superb in every way. It's very beautiful in a twisted way.

Me too. These have been on my radar for a while and I’ve never pulled the trigger.

Felina | 648 comments Mads is already so awesome. I imagine he’s great in that series.

Bryan Farrell | 198 comments Gonna blow the dust off this thread to say that after years of meaning to, I finally read a Sue Grafton book, A Is for Alibi and she has jumped right into my list of favourite crime writers! The main character, a female PI named Kinsey Millhone, must have been groundbreaking in the 80's when this book was first published because honestly/sadly, she still feels kinda groundbreaking now. Quirky, funny, tough yet emotional, she's a great protagonist and I'm looking forward to reading more in the Alphabet series.

This thread was dusty wasn't it, Bryan?! LOL Happy that you swept off the dust and put it back in play.

I read Sue Grafton way back in the day when she first came out - I read some of the series but stopped somewhere around M or N - I have never gone back to reading the series. Need to probably step back into it at some point.

Happy that you are starting your Grafton journey. :)

Bryan Farrell | 198 comments Jeez Marie, you made it pretty far!! Sue Grafton sadly passed away before getting to finish the alphabet but she made it as far as Y which is impressive (especially considering she was writing other books as well). Looking forward to more.

On the subject of crime, I'm about to start the audiobook of The Honjin Murders, a Japanese detective novel from 1946 which I'd never heard of until recently but is apparently a classic so I'm looking forward to that!

I remember when she passed away and at one point I thought I had read somewhere that someone in the family was thinking about having another author finish the series out. I know I had read it somewhere but now I cannot find anything on it.

I need to reread that series though as it has literally been years since I have read anything by her. Might need to start the series over and then continue on with where I left off.
