HA's Chills and Thrills Challenge 2018
I set my goal at 10 and I'm starting now. The Devil and Tom Walker being the first one of that list. next some Poe, Hawthorne, and many of my other favorites to read around this time of year.

Fall/Halloween or any scary book you like for this time of year.

I love how you read so many of the classics of horror. I have to get back to reading some of Poe again. I have an entire collection of his stories on my kindle app but I keep forgetting they're there.

Can we do re-reads?
Also, Peter Straub's Ghost Story is on sale for Kindle $1.99 I usually borrow from the library but I am buying it as soon as I finish this post.

I was going to do my own Halloween challenge as I have some Halloween books sitting on my tbr that I haven't read yet, so I will do them here instead. Great idea HA mods! Definitely will be joining this challenge! :)
For Halloween I have 4 chosen, and 11 alternates.
1. Dead Boy by Laurel Gale
2. The Disappearance of Emily by Barbara Summy
3. I Text Dead People by Rosie Cooper
4. On The Day I Died by Candace Flemming

Thanks for posting about Ghost Story being on sale. I picked it up too, because it is pretty long and now I won't have to rush through it to return it to the library.

This is a great way to get myself out of the reading slump I've been experiencing this year. I have 3 trilogies that I get to finish so I'm already really excited about that. Count me in!

Speaking of long Horror novels I think I'm going to read House of Leaves and I'll be doing audio book for The Passage. I've never read either and I want to do them for this challenge. Happy reading :)

That's a great challenge! I got for 6 books here, as I already planned on doing some creepy Halloween reads in October and maybe I can add 1 or 2 more from the lists above. This will be fun!
This sounds great, I'm going to finish up
and then only read books I already own, and NO BUYING ANY NEW ONES. *she says taking some deep breaths*

I'm starting my Halloween reading with The Lottery and Other Stories because I'm trying to bump off some classics that I haven't gotten around to yet this year. My goal is 10 books.
Can't wait to hear more of what everyone is reading. Already sounds like you all have so many good books in mind for the challenge.

Me too. For classics I'm reading Something Wicked This Way Comes and Whatever Happened To Baby Jane.

Me too! Even though I'll be doing the passage as audio book it's fairly long. Hope it doesn't stunt the number of horror books I can do for this challenge. 😁

So exciting! This will be my first reading challenge. I’m going to try to read 5 books, starting with The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.
I need to finish at least one of the four books I'm currently reading but when I do, my first book for this challenge will be

Should be a fun way to start.

Me too. I am reading this for quite a while now and hope to finish it in October.
Okay, I just looked over my other challenges and the maybe-tbr I did for October and this is, what I will try to read for this challenge:
1. Frankenstein
2. Eternal Frankenstein
3. Something wicked this way comes
4. The Wicked
5. Doorbells at Dusk: Halloween Stories
6. Not decided yet, maybe a book from a subscription box which will arrive soon. All the other books I already own so this will be a good opportunity to read them :)

I'm in! I've already been in the mood for just such a challenge (though really I'm always in the mood for spooky reads).
Sorry, I am wanting to join the challenge but am struggling to see how I do that. Is there a join button or do I just leave comments? Loving the lists, by the way

4. The Indie Eclective: The Halloween Collection
5. Halloween Carnival Volume 1
6. Bad Apples: Five Slices of Halloween Horror
7. Bad Apples 2: Six Slices of Halloween Horror
8. Bad Apples 3: Seven Slices of Halloween Horror

If you look at the menu in the upper right, you'll see 'challenges'. Click on that, the Chills and Thrills challenge is the top one. Add the number of books you'd like to read, name the shelf (Chills and Thrills would work) and then save it. When you go to your personal bookshelf, you'll see the name for the challenge. Add the books you want to read. Enjoy the scares!
