Read 2 times. Last read April 5, 2019 to April 6, 2019.
I read this book years ago and wasn't sure how it would hold up if I ever re-read it. But I'm glad to say I still enjoyed it. It's not one of my favorite books, but it was still quite entertaining.
This was fun! Never expected that a book with a doctor kink would be so enjoyable.
Evan is a doctor with severe migraines. So severe he is no longer able to practice medicine. He is out one night drinking a beer with his depressed self when he spots cute blond younger Jamie walking into the bar. He is instantly attracted to him, but Jamie appears to be straight. When Jamie gets beat up in the restroom of the bar Evan takes care of him and takes him home, since Jamie refuses to go to the hospital.
Evan is not only a real doctor, playing doctor with a hot guy also gets him all hot and bothered. And even though Evan takes good care of Jamie, it's not long before Jamie figures out that Evan is a real kinky bastard. But Jamie isn't gay. Well, he might feel some attraction to Evan, but he's still not gay.
Jamie ends up staying at Evan's apartment for several weeks. Jamie is not in a hurry to leave, since he has no one else. And he likes it when Evan takes care of him. And when they throw some sex in the mix, Jamie is just fine with this arrangement. But he's still not gay...
This book was pretty funny at times. I didn’t know what to expect with the whole playing doctor thing, but it was not that bad. I liked how Evan never hid his kink and how Jamie kept commenting on it. He had some pretty funny names for Evan. And it was not as if Evan was constantly waving his stethoscope around. He just liked the power play that came with the doctor patient relationship. He was very open about everything he liked and not embarrassed at all. That's why it didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable to me. Evan also knew it was not okay to cross a line as a doctor. That he did with Jamie was really bothering him, but Jamie set him straight on that one.
I do felt that the sex was a bit too much at times. I'm not a big fan of endless sex scenes these days so I skimmed some when I got tired of them.
This was a lovely hurt/comfort book. It wasn't perfect, but overall I quite enjoyed it.
