I loved this book!!

I've known Donna in the book community for a while and was intrigued to read her debut crime novel. I was genuinely blown away by how brilliant this book is. It immediately grabs your attention and layers of intrigue are added chapter by chapter, making it REALLY hard to put down! Donna knows how to keep you turning the pages! I finished this one in a couple of sittings, it is so addictive.

I was so impressed by Donna's writing, which feels really sophisticated, especially for a debut. I also really appreciated her characterization. I loved Cora, the DCI investigating Peter Markham's disappearance, and the cast of characters at the station. They were so well-drawn and felt so real. All the police procedures and investigative processes also felt real and credible too, which as a true crime junkie, I appreciate! It does annoy me when authors are sloppy with that side of things, but Donna knows her stuff and it all feels spot on.

If you're looking for a gripping, compelling and intelligent crime novel, this is the one. I'm really looking forward to book 2 and expect big things from Donna Morfett's career! She's one to watch for sure. Highly recommend!
